Same to you! Your hair looked great! I should try this. You're right; it is only expensive if you make it that way. Natural hair is expensive to me because companies are tapping into the black hair community. They want to sell their products at the highest cost and the lowest volume. When I was relaxed, the kit came with shampoo, conditioner and leave in. Now that I’m natural, shampoos come in an 8oz bottle for 15.00-20.00 dollars. I usually buy suave, Pantene, tressemme and trader’s Joe’s nourish spa shampoo and conditioner. They are cheap and come in 32oz bottles for 5.00-8.00 dollars.

Natural hair doesn’t have to be expensive but you can make it that way. Natural black owned products are like $15 and up and everybody can’t afford that. I feel like those products sell because it has natural ingredients but the outcome doesn’t necessarily mean you will like them. I did the whole clean silicone free thing and detangling became harder and the definition wasn’t to my liking. A lot of end results on RUclips with these products are mediocre to me. My hair is always highly defined and it never fully silicone free products. I actually started sealing in my leave in with grease and seals the definition in before my styler.

First off I stopped by, because hunny your skin is just gorgeous sis! Secondly, natural hair isn’t expensive. People need to learn how to use products better. Your cleanser is so important, and if your hair is actually clean, you can use less conditioner because your hair can actually absorb it! I also think if companies would concentrate on making more concrete formulas, instead of making a new line every 2 seconds would be great. Especially when all they’ve done, was change an oil or 2, plus the packaging!

I agree with you. When finding a new product yes. However, sometimes companies get sold and the formula changes. This happened to me. Also I realized that certain products were dying out my hair so I started making my own products and I have 3 brands I stick to.

Although this Blue Magic cholesterol was trash on my hair I am a HUGE fan of cholesterol treatments for afro textured hair. They are cheap and game changing. Queen Helene cholesterol is what I use and it's BOMB and cheap! Don't sleep on regular cholesterol treatments it will turn your hair around. Just find the right one for you and you will never turn back. These new age products are drying and damaging people's hair and scalp. Cholesterol helps with dry scalp too. Afro hair needs those fatty lipids from cholesterol.

    Cholesterol (Fat) = Moisturize
Protein = Strengthen and Rebuild protein bonds in hair.
*The tighter your curl pattern - the more moisture and hydration you need to enhance the elasticity(sign of healthy hair) in your hair.
*The tigher your hair pattern you need less protein. Because, type 4 is very coarse and strong. So, too much protein will break your hair. So, every 3 to 4 months is more then enough. It's best to use a protein after, straightening (applying heat) your hair.

I believe the expense comes in when you’re learning your hair type and when you’re trying to change your curl pattern. Once you accept your hair and learn to love it the way it is, then you can begin learning what works best for it. Also, if you stick to products using the healthiest ingredients for your hair, you can learn to budget your money and the amount of product you use. It’s all in stride.

I think Natural hair is expensive because we're trying to keep our dollars with the black owned business who can't afford to sell their products at $5.00 yet. When they do get to that standard they begin to sell and bam the recipe changes so some people( including myself) try to find something else that works for us with better ingredients. Now I have 3 heads of hair and I'm trying to find 1 brand or 1 product that works on all of our hair. My daughter has midback/waist length hair at 3 and baby a deep conditioner from TGIN only last 3 washes for her head alone but if I have to wash mine and my son hair it gone that day and that stuff $17. My hair is armpit length and I can typically get about 4 washes out on my head if I'm the only one using the jar.

I just oil my scalp and put leave in on and twist. Low maintenance with less products has really been helping me plus it fits my busy schedule.

And that’s just like a variety of like Indian him hair grease BB hair grease or crown royal hair grease and there’s other things including with water that seems to work best for me. Not all those expensive oils that I can barely afford

I’ve wasted so much money on extraordinarily marketed products😂 yo! It’s crazy how I feel like I’ve been robbed of my and damn hair from trying all of this ish!!! When all the while, blue magic grease and ol’ shregular cholesterol conditioner would’ve continued to get the job done. It’s funny how I search cholesterol conditioner and then you popped up first! I Lol because of the title! I knew You was already gone make me laugh about this😂
Natural hair is not expensive, the products we chose to subscribe to are. And before we can finish those we’ve already order a completely different product 😂

Personally, I combine diy products with affordable products. If there's an ingredient that I find is working wonders for my hair, I'll get that ingredient and use it in a diy product. That's how I save money. Then I'll get affordable products to work around my diy stuff. For example, I make all my oils and butters. I don't buy premade oils and butters-unless I just need some traditional hair grease or mineral oil for something, which costs very little. My favorite shampoo is $5. It doesn't have to be expensive. But it can be if you want all natural products made for you.

I just like to make my own natural hair care products except my conditioners and hair mask. Sometimes I buy my moisturizers. I haven't found a good scalp cleanser neither. But i'm going to be making a much, much deeper moisturizer being that my hair drinks oils, water, or anything I put on it. My scalp gets so dry.

I stopped using cholesterol. I was using the olive oil one and it has DMDM hydantoin in it. It’s formaldehyde. It was making my hair fall out and other brands of products with that ingredient got shunned by its users after the discovery of the ingredient.

I feel likes its a yes and no. If you're someone that constantly manipulates your hair with flat ironing and blow outs and wigs then yeah of course. and yeah, if you're just going natural and finding what works for you then its pricy to find what your hair likes. But when you have a routine then its easy breezy. Mostly I just use aloe vera and rosemary water and natural oils (tea tree, almond, lavender oil) Aloe vera is a great pre shampoo, great deep conditioner, and anytime moisturizer for protective styling. And rosemary water I use once a week as a rinse after a wash (makes my hair super duper soft)

I feel like going back to the product my mom used in my hair as a child. I had no breakage. She used no conditioner. She just put hair oil in my hair after a wash.
I need to bring my hair back to that time. Hair just break as I touch it. Like rotten rubber band.

That sounds like hygral fatigue. You need some protein in your hair try aphogee and going forward don't deep condition overnight or use rinse out conditioners as a leave in.
It's true your hair can thrive with just shampoo and oil, but not with the kind of damage you have right now.

When you have very short or very long natural hair I don't think it's expensive but when you natural hair is at that stage where its too long to rock as short hair but too short to pack into one .. that's where it becomes time consuming and expensive to maintain. As it takes a lot of product and time to get a nice style and texture and still look good without make up ... well this has been my experience.. 😊

Natural hair is very expensive. I don’t believe there is no way around it to be honest. Even after you buy different products and eventually find out what your hair likes (which could take months to a year or so) , you have to maintain that. You always have different styles that require certain products. Your basic moisturizing set ( leave in and cream/butter) won’t work for a blow
Out or perm rod set or twist/braid out. Some products can be used for multiple purposes but most aren’t. You always have different seasons and air humidity depending on where you live.
What you do in the summer may or may not be the same as winter. Then you have the range of quality of products. Some good ones are at $5-$7 while others are $20-$30 per bottle. If you style weekly then you using all the products and oils more often causing you to purchase again. Not to mention that some products are good stand alone but in combination with other products causes clumps.

Yes they can, two possible ways that I know of so far.
      1. The products that you apply might not be getting into your hair properly because they're getting wasted on the added hair too. (So maybe soaking your entire head is the way to go before sealing, instead of spritzing water on the outer layers of your braids).
      2. There's an alkaline coating on the hair or the hair synthetic hair is made of an alkaline material (either way it's the reason some people itch), alkaline pH raises hair cuticles so moisture can be lost from the hair(possible fix: some people do an vinegar rinse on the hair and then moisturise and seal the hair so it doesn't take moisture from their hair)
Furthermore there is friction between your hair and the added hair as you go about daily life, plus the dryness, it shreds our ends over time, but it's more noticeable with people with fine strands. I dropped added hair in my braids and started using grease too and the thickness of my fine hair is more preserved.

I'm confused! At the beginning, it looked like your hair was short, & then you put a wig on, but maybe it's because of the way you had your hair pinned up, towards the back of your head! However, that's a lot of hair to hide! Don't know how you did it, but yours or not, that hair is fabulous! It looks dope on you!
