You measured further toward your hand than where you would wear a band. You have to measure behind your wrist bone unless you wear your watch on your wrist bone.
You’re right! That does give me a 16.3 cm measurement and Apple puts that at a 6! So in the end, it’s correct for a perfect fit but those that want a tighter fit should only size down one! Given that I tried 4 and 5 would be ideal for me. Thanks for the heads up, totally goofed on that part!
I’m a size 7 according to Apple but i figured it would be too loose so I got a size 6 and it fits perfectly. I love these new bands, I definitely recommend sizing down by 1.
yh thats what happened to me. I went to the apple store and the measurements said 8 (which was slightly too lose) but when I tried size 7 it was perfect.
You know, there’s also a difference with the 40mm and 44mm. So if you’re getting a band for 44mm, you should subtract 4mm from your wrist because 4mm will be added by the bigger watch. I tried out different numbers on the sizing guide (using cm) but i don’t think the guide takes the different Watch sizes into account
I’m right in between size 9 and 10, I tried size 9 for 2 days and it was way too tight. Went to size 10 and it’s perfect. No problem with all the sensor
as I don't have an Apple Store near me, I'm very happy that I took the time and effort to do some research about the Braided Solo Loop Band sizing before buying one online and stumbled across this video. my wrist measures 17.5cm on the spot where I wear my Watch normally, which Apple converts into a size 8. following the advice of this video, I ordered myself a size smaller (so size 7) and it fits perfectly! thanks Daniel!
Did anybony get the sign of the bracelet around the arm even with the correct size? According with most of your comments, I chose the 6 size instead of the 7 and it seems it fits right but when I take off the watch, it leaves my arm signed. Is it normal?
I ordered the braided loop. I printed the Apple tool and ensured it was printed out at the correct size by putting my credit card in the area shown. The Apple tool showed my wrist to be 7, so I thought to be safe I will order a 6 & 7 (as I have read some people say about going for a size less than shown). Well the straps arrived and the 7 was way too big and so was the 6. I've returned the straps and I have just ordered size 4 and 5 (size 4 is the smallest size in the 44 mm strap). Hopefully one of these will fit. Apple have put a note on their website that the Solo Loop increases in size over time. But there's no mention of this for the braided loop (probably due to them been different materials). If I was in the market for another silicone band, I would just go with the original one as its not worth the hassle in my opinion having to try and specifically pick the right size, and also when there is a chance of them increasing in size over time.
I was a size 4 according to apple and now I regret it because my Apple Watch fits soooo loose I hate it (I measured with the printable chart) I think I’m buying a size 1 so it feels secure because I’m afraid that I’m not even a size 2, I have a preettyyy small wrist 14 cm circumference to be exact so if someone has the same measurement Please let me know if size 1 or 2 is the correct for me because I just got my Apple Watch series 7 and hate how loose it fits
Hai estefania..may i know what size are u wearing now? Because my wrist size also 14cm.. wondering now to get size 3 or get one size smaller.. tq in advance😊
You should be measuring where the Apple Watch will sit on your wrist. Wrap the cut tool tightly around your wrist and size down if you are below half a number, so if you’re between an 8 and 9, go for 9.
I know people say to size the solo loop and the braided loop differently, but I’m wondering if, say, a size 5 in both types would technically be the same length, millimeters-wise?
When I get paid, I’m upgrading my series 2 for a series 6. I want the navy blue and matching band. Just deciding between the braided blue loop or just have the silicone standard strap. I’ve measured my wrist multiple times, and got a U.K. size 5. But ppl have said to down size ?-?
Should it leave a little indent mark. I’ve tried size 5 and 6 , 6 feels slightly slack but 5 feels tight. Shall I stick with 5 and hopefully it will get slightly bigger when worn in???
i am not sure that the measuring strip available is correct or not i am size 8 on the scale provided but i am not sure about that any idea what to do and which size to order
@Daniel Romero: I think the recommendation on whether to a) Go with the recommended size, b) Go down 1 size or c) Go down 2 sizes might depend on whether it's a 40mm or 44mm and whether it's a silicone or treaded band. What are your thoughts on this?
I measured myself 6 inch 1/4 , and in apple store, they measured size 6 too. But when tried 6, it’s loose, tried 5, it’s just ok, maybe slightly on the loose side. Tried 4, too tight, choking my wrist..So always at least go down a size
do you feel, that anytime a band will collapse your skin, or in other words, squeezes your outer skin it is too tight in the long run and will cut circulation? As the tighter one is doing? Thanks.
THANK YOU for addressing the pet hair and dust issue! I have 3 cats and a dog and was hesitating about buying these bands because I worried the hair sticking would be a constant problem. You are the only person I have seen who has addressed this! I thought the braided band would be the worst, but it looks like that is not true at all. I think I’ll pick up one of each type.
I’d buy one if they could get their sizing sorted! The sizing tool (credit card size checked) tells me one size while the measuring tape tells me another. I think I’ll just not bother.
On the looser band are you having misreads on heart rate, blood o2, ECG sensors ? I would imagine it would have to tight enough not to slide without leaving much of an imprint on skin when removed.
The top of the measuring tool is a square to simulate the watch, put that where you would wear the watch not on your wrist bone and you’d get a better estimate
I went in the Apple store and my wrist measured a 5. I actually got a size 3 with my Series 6 watch. The 5 was was loose and would slide down my wrist when I put my arm down (I wear my watch just above my wrist bone)
I measured a size 8. Got two bands at a size 7 and they fit perfect. HOWEVER, two weeks later, after taking one of them on and off daily, it stretched to a point that I noticed it. Annoying. So my new bands are all size 6.
Hello all, I used the Apple tool also use the other method measuring my wrist and all methods provided by Apple are absolutely correct. My wrist is 15 cm measured tightly and the Apple said I’m between 4 and 5 and they recommend size 4. That’s what I did 😊 I have ordered size 4 and fits perfectly 🙂 very happy 😃
Only one video on RUclips I saw someone measure their hand correctly. You are meant to place the watch bit on the front where you wear your watch, after that wrap the remaining bit around tightly, check the number and finally if it falls between two numbers you should be picking the lower number. This is how Apple say do it on their site.
Just got mine too. I measured a size 8 but I went a size smaller and it fits perfectly. My advice, get a size smaller. It's not tight or loose. Just right.
Want to upgrade but not sure which WRIST BAND size I need... my current sport band says the wrist size is "M/L" --- but the new AW7 gives sizes only in 'mm' (ex: 140-220mm)
i wanted to get the solo loop but i have a 45mm watch which only works with a size 4 and up and im a 2 :( even though the measurements said i was a size 4 it was way off
I saw that when you were measuring your wrist the tape measure close to your hand. I think you should measure a little lower from your hand like 1 cm lower, because it’s not exact place on your wrist that you wear the watch.
I ordered a size 7 because that's what the tool told me. Of course it turned out too loose. Now Apple doesn't want to exchange it for a smaller one without exchanging the Apple Watch I bought as well after I already set it up and stuff. Intensely bad customer service experience. Somebody in California didn't think this shit through at all.
I also measured myself and I was a size 3 so which color solo loop do you recommend I was thinking either the white solo loop Outpt the abyss blue and it is navy and I like navy so which apple watch solo loop color band do you recommend the white or the abyss blue?
I agree on the comments to order a size down. With their tool, I went with an 11. I assumed I didn't want it too tight...but now it slides up and down my wrist. I am going to the Apple store this weekend to swap out the band for a 10, or maybe even a 9.
One question. Did you get the 40mm watch or the 44mm? Because my wrist is also about 7 inches and what to see which of both Apple Watch sizes go for me. I don’t want the Apple Watch to be looking bulky on me.
I had the exact same experience. Size 7 recommended by Apple + Size 7 from the printout. Ended up buying Size 5. I didn't try Size 4 but now i'm tempted. I'm just worried it will eventually stretch out and become loose.
Online measurements had me at 10. Went in person and used the official tool at Apple. Apple Staff referenced the outside edge (weird): 5 or 6 (which were too small). The arrows pointed at 9. I tried on some bands and am either a 7 or an 8. Not sure how the online tool or official tool were so off for me. Definitely good to try in person if possible. 9 or 10 would've been no good. Definitely go smaller by a size or even 2 sizes.
How about measuring using the older version of Apple Watch bands with the punch holes? Simply check which setting is ok whilst wearing the watch on the wrist, then take it off and measure from the pin to the hole you used. This way you’ll be measuring where on your wrist you’d wear your watch. Just thinking out loud.
So the silicone Solo Loop material, would it attract more dust than the regular Sport Band? I've been avoiding "third party" copies because Apple's Sport Band is best in this regard.
What color Apple Watch do you recommend for the solo loops I was thinking the white but it will probably get dirty very easily and I was also thinking about getting the abyss blue solo loop because it is envy and I usually like navy but I also like the white so which color band do you recommend?
Now I’m worried because I used the sizing tool and it said I’m a 7 as well and I don’t like a loose fit for a watch. And Apple doesn’t do swaps for these bands.... I hope it fits me good or I’ll have to return the whole watch and try to reorder with the proper sizing.
😯 what size is your wrist? I still can’t decide what size to buy. I have small wrists too! Apple guide says size 4 but if this guy is a 4 there’s no way I am.
Same here. My wrist measurement is 13cm (just nice not fit), now i dont even dare to order the size 1 because of this. Should i just stick to the old sport band instead of trying this new band? But it looks pretty much comfy
How do you charge your Apple Watch with these bands because with the normal band you have to unbuckle it and then you can lay your Apple Watch flat on its charger
Mine was also too big. I had to sit for an hour on a call with Apple just to have to return the entire watch today... I thought they had revised the policy and accepted just a band return... Not pleased!
Ive measured 14 centimeters and apple says that my size should be 3 but im concerned that it will be too big and then i have to buy another one (even if i dont want to😭😂)should i go with 2 then?? Need help😭🙏🏽 (im also from Austria and on the Apple Store we only have 9 sizes to choose from)
Tiffany D. OK so the band finally came in and I’ve been wearing it for a few hours now. Honestly a size 2 isn’t bad at all! The watch doesn’t move up and down my wrist when I move/shake my hand, but at the same time it doesn’t feel like it’s constricting circulation lol Idk if you’ve already ordered a band yet, but I think you’d be good with a 2!
evergreenpenguin i ordered mine about a week ago and it came today so I will probably exchange the band into a size five (I have a seven right now and it’s fine but a little bit too big)
I prefer to wear my watch for workouts on my forearm. Gives better results on the left arm since it is closer to your Heart and does not get in the way while lifting weights, pull ups, push-ups or and funky wrist movements that mess up the tracking. Pretty much all of my workouts.
Is the regular solo loop more comfortable than the braided? When upgrading to the braided loop, it's actually only 50 dollars. Is this worth it? Thank you!
Regular is definitely more comfortable because it almost feels like nothing! The braided feels more like a traditional watchband while still being quite comfortable!
About a year ago I got a size 7 at first, had to change it to a size 6. Which was a bit loose as well, but I was afraid 5 would be too tight. But the size 6 has stretched enough now to be similar to a 7 or so.. so I'm no longer able to really use my size 6 band due to the watch not having contact to my skin at all times, so every time I look at the watch I'd have to retype my pin code. Apples really fucked up with these tools. The band itself is great quality though, just terrible sizing guidelines.
If I am a size 6 in the solo loop and fits very snug, would a size 6 in the braided solo loop feel the same size or bigger/looser so i should go with a Size 5 braided solo loop for a snug fit?
Does a card fit in the square of your printed page? Mine is showing smaller, so I’m not sure if I have to size down or just keep it the one is showing me Apple measure paper.
measured my wrist with tape measure and apple website gave me a size 6. I ordered a 5. fits not too lose and not too tight. i think 4 for me woulda been too tight. apart from sizing inconsistency, the loop feels super comfortable like I could wear it while sleeping unbothered comparing to the bands I had which was a bit heavier.
You measured further toward your hand than where you would wear a band. You have to measure behind your wrist bone unless you wear your watch on your wrist bone.

Exactly!!
Good info!!
I’ve heard a lot that in the Apple site you can download it but until now I don’t know where to find it 😭😭😭
Daniel Romero
I noticed that right away. In fact I said out loud, “you’re measuring too high up on your wrist! You’re not gonna wear it that high!“
I’m a size 7 according to Apple but i figured it would be too loose so I got a size 6 and it fits perfectly. I love these new bands, I definitely recommend sizing down by 1.
HeReads yup the bands are REALLY STRETCHY so it’s better to size down than size up.
yh thats what happened to me. I went to the apple store and the measurements said 8 (which was slightly too lose) but when I tried size 7 it was perfect.
Is your watch 40mm or 44mm?

HeReads Did you use the recommended size or the looser one on the website?
do you think size 5 would be good or too tight? im a size 7 but idk if to go for 6 or 5

5:56 “Another question is about dust” ... *Casually rubs the bands on a cat* ... 😯😂😂
Cat was like WTH!
What are you doing to have smashed both of your Watches' screens?
Word. Maybe buy a cover first ? Was wondering how a case affects the touch screen too.
Would you recommend sizing down 1 or 2?
For the braided loop, would you also recommend sizing down two sizes from the paper cut out sizing tool?
I ordered the braided loop. I printed the Apple tool and ensured it was printed out at the correct size by putting my credit card in the area shown. My wrist is so small, I'm a size one from Apple's sizing guide. I can't size down, hopefully it still fits perfectly.
Did it fit??
i am not sure that the measuring strip available is correct or not i am size 8 on the scale provided but i am not sure about that any idea what to do and which size to order
What about in cm? What is it then
Hey, how does the band cope with water/sweat? Can you use it for your work out?
I measured so diligently and was between 5 or a 6. It was way too big. When I went into the store to exchange, I ended up being a size 1! How off!
My wrist is 17.3 cm. Braided loop size 6 fits perfectly. The Silicon loop, size 7 fits perfectly.
Broo u have the same measurements as me. I don’t know whether to buy the size 5 or 6 with the silicon loop
So I should get a 7 if I measure between a 9 and 10
@Daniel Romero: I think the recommendation on whether to a) Go with the recommended size, b) Go down 1 size or c) Go down 2 sizes might depend on whether it's a 40mm or 44mm and whether it's a silicone or treaded band.
What are your thoughts on this?
Yeah you are right! There are a few variables to consider! I don’t feel like Apple went about sizing properly
so please which band is better in your opinion? braided or solo? it’s worth it the $50 more for braided one?
I measured myself 6 inch 1/4 , and in apple store, they measured size 6 too. But when tried 6, it’s loose, tried 5, it’s just ok, maybe slightly on the loose side. Tried 4, too tight, choking my wrist..So always at least go down a size

Thanks for the tip-I’ve seen tonnes of people saying the same thing. I cancelled my order of a 7 and ordered a five. You saved me a lot of hassle!
How did the size 5 feel? I'm also a size 7, thinking to order a size 6 Braided Solo Loop.
did the size 5 feels snug? or should i get size 6?
THANK YOU for addressing the pet hair and dust issue! I have 3 cats and a dog and was hesitating about buying these bands because I worried the hair sticking would be a constant problem. Hello! Then what size to order for a 16.5 cm wrist ?! 5 ?!
On the looser band are you having misreads on heart rate, blood o2, ECG sensors ? I would imagine it would have to tight enough not to slide without leaving much of an imprint on skin when removed.

does it leave a mark in your wrist, ?

I ended up going to my local Apple store and getting sized. I measured a 7 at home and a 5 at Apple. Ordered a 4 solo loop after trying them both on.
Is your watch a 40mm or 44m one?

Thanks how many cm is your wrist?
wow I measured between a 5 and 6 but after measuring at 14cm I think I'm going with a size 2.
How many inches is your wrist? Please help …

I just bought a watch and the fourth hole on the included sport band gives me perfect fit. How would this translate to loop sizing?
So the silicone Solo Loop material, would it attract more dust than the regular Sport Band? I've been avoiding "third party" copies because Apple's Sport Band is best in this regard.

@@alexalucard1611 ok, thanks
For the braided solo loop, would it leave marks as the solo loop does after a while
the cut out tells me i’m a size 7. Would you recommend going size 5 to a more tighter fit?
I am a woman and mine is a size 8.! Hate it tight. And it never stretched out!! Tight is uncomfortable when you are very warm
I’m a size 1 I want to go a size down because that’s what apple recommends and all the RUclips vids I watch but I can’t 😅😅😅😅 skinny wrist problems 😅🥺
😯 what size is your wrist? I still can’t decide what size to buy. I have small wrists too! Apple guide says size 4 but if this guy is a 4 there’s no way I am.

I just flip it so the band loops over the screen, makes charging it with these a breeze!
You put the cracked screen watch under the tap??? Does it still work

Thank you Daniel, this is great. So I just measured my wrist, its 15,5 cm. What size would you recommend given your experience? 4?
What size were you good at?
Hello Daniel! I want to ask a question.I purchased sport solo loop and size is 7.If I buy braided solo loop ,should I buy size 6 or 5?
Could that measuring method be meant for the non-stretchy bands?
Would opt for the Leather link but I’m sure whether should I wear it as a student.
Mine was also too big. I had to sit for an hour on a call with Apple just to have to return the entire watch today... I thought they had revised the policy and accepted just a band return... Not pleased!
I mreasure size 6 but but brought 5 but it's still too lose! I think going to returen it for 4 T-T
If I have a size 1 on apples website but I want it tight and that solo loop band what would I do?
Ive measured 14 centimeters and apple says that my size should be 3 but im concerned that it will be too big and then i have to buy another one (even if i dont want to😭😂)should i go with 2 then?? Need help😭🙏🏽 (im also from Austria and on the Apple Store we only have 9 sizes to choose from)
Ahh yes! I also measured 14cm and I'm nervous to order the size 3! I have really small wrists so I hope the loop fits well :(
Lilly Pad Thai samee😭my wrist is rlly small actually and i dont wanna choose the wrong one😂😭
Tiffany D. I just ordered a size 2 just to be safe! I’ll keep you updated once it arrives next week 😩
Lilly Pad Thai Thank u so much😩🙏🏽 I rlly appreciate it🙏🏽Now lets just hope that it will fit👍🏽🙌🏽😩
Tiffany D. OK so the band finally came in and I’ve been wearing it for a few hours now. Honestly a size 2 isn’t bad at all! The watch doesn’t move up and down my wrist when I move/shake my hand, but at the same time it doesn’t feel like it’s constricting circulation lol
Idk if you’ve already ordered a band yet, but I think you’d be good with a 2!
is it possible to exchange the band if it’s too loose? Apple recommended a size 7 but I‘m really sure it’s way too big...
Definitely! Apple recently changed their procedure so no need to return the whole watch, you can just get the band replaced!
evergreenpenguin I don’t have an Applestore anywhere near I live
evergreenpenguin i ordered mine about a week ago and it came today so I will probably exchange the band into a size five (I have a seven right now and it’s fine but a little bit too big)
Which of the 2 stretch? Silicone or braided?
If I am a size 6 in the solo loop and fits very snug, would a size 6 in the braided solo loop feel the same size or bigger/looser so i should go with a Size 5 braided solo loop for a snug fit?
did you buy size 5 of braided solo loop?
Hows Apple’s exchange policy? I bought a band and still waiting for my series 6 to come in. If my band is too big can I exchange it for a smaller one?
Yup! They recently simplified the whole process too! No issues with exchanges/returns!
Would be cool if i could find the link to print the measuring tool
So for a good snug fit you would recommend going 3 sizes down from the recommended apple size?
I would say Max two sizes! 1 size down should be snug enough for most!
Has the solo loop size 4 loosen up now that you have had it for a few months?
I found them to actually get a little tighter over time so I’ve ended up getting a larger size!
How do you size someone else without telling them your buying them a Apple Watch?
Does a card fit in the square of your printed page? Mine is showing smaller, so I’m not sure if I have to size down or just keep it the one is showing me Apple measure paper.
Yeah my card fit perfect on the printed square!
Daniel Romero Thanks a lot! That really helps for my order 😊
Are these watches the 40mm or the 44mm?
these are the 44mm size
measured my wrist with tape measure and apple website gave me a size 6. I ordered a 5. fits not too lose and not too tight. i think 4 for me woulda been too tight. apart from sizing inconsistency, the loop feels super comfortable like I could wear it while sleeping unbothered comparing to the bands I had which was a bit heavier.
Darf ich fragen, wie viel cm deine Hand hat?
So 5 would be perfect for you?
I believe so! But that's also because I prefer a tighter fit!
thank you for this! now i know to size down significantly and im definitely getting the two band types you tried. very informative! thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
does the case work on the 5?
