    I am always astonished at the ignorance and arrogance of people who criticize without any knowledge or understanding of someones focus and competancy. I love what you are doing. I am in awe of your patience, creativity and your competency. The transformation of the house has been amazing.

    Andy, I love watching your restoration of the finca. It marvels me that you can bring such an old building back to life. You do put in some modern touches here and there of course, but the best part is seeing the old parts of the building being restored. I love how you have been able to do the monumental amounts of stone work around the property. And by the looks of it, we will have years of seeing the finca being restored to its previous glory. I’m so happy I found your channel. You and Sharon are quite a team.

    You are both doing superb work and exactly the right ethos. I wish my late husband and I had known about lime mortar 60 years ago when we were starting our long restoration of our old house. We couldn't have done too bad a job as our Son and his family now live there. There is much more information, resources and appropriate materials available in the UK now. Saving an old house is always worthwhile - you are saving history

    There do seem to be a lot of know it alls out there. You obviously know what you are doing and you are a great team doing a super job. We live in a barn converted about 40 years ago by a builder for for himself. We bought from him about 30years ago and have spent a lot of time and money sorting out problems this guy caused by using modern materials on an oak framed structure built in hand made bricks and lime mortar, some expert he was. So fantastic that this old building is getting the right care and attention it deserves. Hope Sharon is feeling better and not in too much pain. ❤

    • @FincaLife
      @FincaLife  4 месяца назад

      Unfortunately, there is much of this about now - people just don't understand the damage done by modern building materials and it's often not apparent until it's too late

    • @sue7190
      @sue7190 4 месяца назад

      @@FincaLife you are so right Andy. We had a beautiful old granary on staddle stones. The oak frame was badly attacked by woodworm and someone decided to patch it up with cement. The oak frame snapped and a brick infill wall fell out. It was irreparable. We rebuilt it in green oak with wood fibre infill panels, lime render and sheep wool insulation. We now use it so much but it was tragic the way it was treated.

    I just want to add .. There are not many Stone Masters living in today's world and in your case you can only do your best to rehabilitate what you have and that is not an easy task, I respect all of the thought that both of you put into the choices you make and then the hard work of trying .. Sometimes it works and sometimes not but either way (You Tried ) .. I can't say to just ignore the negative comments because any human would be effected by them, People need to realize you are sharing your knowledge and lessons with us and for me I know I will never find myself
    doing this and I can only hope that what I have learned from you serves me in my life .. And it has in a way, I like to draw and paint so I get inspiration from you and color combinations and I just want to say thank you for continuing and sharing your journey .. Both of really deserve a lot of credit, Happy Easter and God Bless 🕊

    Ignore the criticism from naysayers. A restoration is so different to concreting over everything and covering the original charm and function of a finca. I have come up against the same mentality here in Portugal. It may not be as comfortable/easy to clean or weather proof but it will more beautiful and to your taste. That’s what counts.
