Love the fact that he's like playing at home, if he is playing a song and all of a sudden gets tired of it, just stops playing and goes for the next one.
he does that a lot, usually its when he’s had to play a song so much he’s tired of it, or when his voice isnt up for it. mostly when he screws up. but it doesnt feel like he’s lazy or impatient, just understanding of his limits and wanting what he performs to be great
At 29:13 when he doesn't want to continue with Waterloo sunset and then the people convince him, he shines through the rest and its incredibly beautiful as is the whole concert. Love the audience's encouragement.

Yeah he wrote a lot of songs and put them aside before coming back to them later. He was playing "Last Hour" back in 1996, Strung Out Again in the late '90s and others. Every time I saw him he had a whole new batch of songs, almost like his hand couldn't keep up with his brain. And even the songs Elliott wrote but wasn't happy with were brilliant songs. The wonderful grace and charm of Billy Ruane here is truly heartwarming. I was lucky enough to speak to him on the phone a couple of times, and he was always the epitome of style and class. From what I gather he was a sophisticated, well-heeled and charming Boston legend, a one of a kind impressario whose energy and knowledge helped to form an entire musical culture in Cambridge in the 1990s. I only regret the fact that I was living in Boston and working office jobs at Harvard and MIT and missed out on all of this EXCEPT Mary Lou Lord, whose appearances at Harvard Square and on 'the T' (while coming to and from my office jobs) inspired and galvanized me with her forthright and confident, graceful voice with unexpected legatos and sharp insightful lyrics that lifted her songs to ever new heights in the nineties concurrent with Elliott's shooting star career. So striking to hear Elliott here play and sing with such ultimate skill, and to realize that his harmonic composition knowledge was right up there on par with the greats like Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and John Lennon. He embodied musical sophistication and guitar technique par excellence. Heartfelt lyrics.that make you want to cry with their emotional and intellectual depth. Nobody else in the world like him, and again a true inspiration for someone like me aspiring as a songwriter/singer/guitar player. Wow. We miss you both, Billy and Elliott!
& again @ 30:58 ..... i think he must really having enjoyed playing that song! Its so very nice to see him looking happy and secure, as I think he was @ that moment in time.
This makes me want to cry, just knowing about his life and his addiction. I really do appreciate seeing his live performances, feels as if I was there.
his guitar playing is amazing, so unique. Plays the bass lines like the old blues masters simultaneously playing melodies but has his own style! GENIUS
i always feel the need to point out how great/original of a guitarist he was, seems to be underlooked as fuck due to how powerful his songs and lyrics are
He was also a hugely talented multi-instrumentalist. Piano, drums, base. He knew it all. I always have said his style of playing was somewhere a mix of Bach and the Beatles.
