Never heard of using Shelton pony’s before. I have heard they can be a little cantankerous. The donkey so far has been pretty good. But only time can tell. Thanks I appreciate it.
I had llamas for years. A herd. They protected each other. I also had donkeys. But that being said, I’d get a couple good guard dogs. It’s worth the trouble.
We may have to in the end. For now with the small number I have I will try to work with the donkey. I may change my mind as we increase our numbers. Thanks
That's a great point about the dogs needing their own food, whereas the other guard animals will eat grass. I was leaning toward getting a llama, but now am reconsidering.
Yea. So far the donkey is working out. Seems to be very good with the kids. I will still say dogs are the best so if the donkey does not work for us we will have to go back to dogs. If you go with a donkey consider a Jenny or a gilded jack. I would avoid a jack. Hopefully whatever you decide will work well for you. Thanks
15 years is not a short lifespan for any dog. You said dogs are the best protectors, in your opinion. I agree. You mentioned that dogs require different feed. All animals need appropriate food. Why is it an issue to buy dog food? I feel like I missed some part of the video. Final thoughts: Dogs are the best to protect your goats and they live a long time. So, buy a few guard dogs. They are easy to train, if they are raised with goats.
@caroldocherty6810 I used to have one. One of the best dogs I ever had. Could not keep her in though. She could climb a 6’ fence. Great dog though. Thanks

@caroldocherty6810 Wow I don’t know of anyone that has used Ostriches before. That is kinda cool though. I need to check out the channel. Thanks I appreciate it.
Awesome to see some footage on your homestead great video
Thanks
The work never stops thanks as always
Maybe try training a stud Shelton pony, they will fight anything that doesn't feed it, but you need good fencing they are masters at escaping.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your thoughts.

Never heard of that bread. I looked them up reminds me of the Anatolian. I am sure that dog would work very well.
Thanks I appreciate it.
@@3DFarmingLife Yes it is the Anatolian. You let them live with the animals and they protect them
