Hi my awesome friend I always enjoy watching a good garden video clip by my awesome friends you always do such great videos and full of great information. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy until the next video
New to your channel I’m planting Liatris for the first time your videos (Beijing now😂) your landscaping is BEAUTIFUL!! You’re very informative 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m in zone 6a Michigan. Oh yeah I have fallen in love with this song (💪🏽🙋🏽♀️) Powerful. Thank you for sharing!🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
I battle noise when recording too. I like by a super busy main road and I'm in the flight path for the airport. Ugh! But it was a great video! Can't wait to see everything in bloom!
Hi Amanda, As I recall you are in Texas. I'm in Windermere, Florida zone 9b. My Amaryllis are in pots and the ground. I have about 50 that multiplied from the original 5 bulbs. Other bulbs don't do as well in this heat and humidty. Your yard is really coming along. Your subscriptions are growing nicely👍💕👍
I see this was uploaded may 1st. Asking when the video was made. If I remember correctly, I think you are in a warm climate. Today is March 19 in zone 6 and I am itching to try to plant these. I’m guessing it’s too early for me. The only thing i see here in flower are snow drops & some daffodils. Irises & tulips are starting to poke out the ground. Maybe I’ll scratch the itch JUST A LITTLE and plant 2 of each since so many come in a pack. And I’ll stake a cut milk container over top just for fun. WWOW YOUR SPIREA ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! What an inspiration! Thanks!!!
I don’t do a lot of bulbs in my garden but I do have some I have trouble where I live growing bulbs I think one of the promises we don’t have any real winner here in California where I live never gets colder than 40° and that’s usually just one or two days a year most of the time it’s usually between 40 and 70° all winter long. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy thank you so much for such great information. Maybe next year maybe I’ll try growing bulbs again
Hi sweetie ...just want you to know iam learning alot from you ..iam plantings some of these just didn't know when to plant them out...Joann From Circleville Ohio
Nice garden! Quick Liatris questions - planting them from the corms (bulbs) for the first time - 1) Is the "hairy" side, what looks like thin litter roots, the bottom? 2) how many inches deep should the bottom of the corm be placed from the surface of the soil? Looking forward to your other videos.
+Leigh A the bottom will have lots of little bumps and may have some thin roots … when I serious doubt, plant on its side and the bulbs can slightly correct itself over time. Plant 3 inches deep.
@@shesamadgardener Thank you! I got some further guidance - I also just heard back that when you plant in pots, plant more shallowly for better drainage, so no deeper than 2 in., while planting in-ground should be deeper. The Blazing Star plants that we planted last summer we planted 5 in. deep and the stalks are already 4-5 in. tall.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am new to gardening, one week ago I planted Gladiolus bulbs. I didn’t know the top or bottom. If I buried some upside down. Will they still grow or be a dud? I am just starting to see little tops poke through the dirt.
They will try to grow up, so if they are upside down, you might not get blooms or if you go, they might be lacking compared to the others that are planted correctly.
I was cleaning out a neglected garden this weekend that used to have gladiolus planted in it. We found a number of what I’m sure are gladiolus seedlings. The corms are about the size of a match head! Do you have any experience or tips for gladiolus seedlings?
Sure, each of those tiny bulbs will become a plant. It’s best to separate and move them in the fall, but if you want to do it now, I suggest dividing out the small bulbs planting them in small 4inch containers and caring for them until the plant gets about 6inches tall ... than transplant where you want them. They will not bloom their first year.
@@shesamadgardener thank you! Wish I could show them to you! The tiniest corm is only an 1/8th of an inch wide! I have fourteen so I put them in a group, bucket planting until they get a little bigger.
Hey Amanda🙋🏾♀️ I’ve never planted bulbs before but I’m going to Lowe’s tomorrow to buy some! Thanks to you! I’ll also pick up Plantone because you always use it! So will these bulbs bloom this summer? Thanks in advance. -Robin
Hi! I am a bit east of the Dallas area and I am trying gladiolus for the first time this year! Do they come back for you? Can you leave the bulbs in the ground?

Since it doesn’t get cold enough for long enough, you would need to plant “pre chilled” bulbs each year.

Great explanations. We learn. Thank you so much. I have a small garden and my gladiolus are dying by thrips. What can i do?.
+RICARDO NOVIllo you can use a string blast of water specifically under the leaves. I also suggest captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew.
👀 What’s that frosty looking foliage at around 11 minutes in?
Any updated video on what this looked like after they came up? Just found this video.
+Matthew F they are on their way up now so I’ll do a garden tour … they should be in full bloom by June.
@@shesamadgardener awesome, thanks!!!
Gracias
+Martina Morgan You are welcome! 💚
I was wondering if bridal wreath would grow here. I’m originally from Louisiana and learned this growing area.
You should plant it!
I love your channel!!!! ❤️ what are those circular Trillis cages you have!? I need to get some of those! Also curious what kind of soil you have!!!
+Kimberlin they are from Amazon and are plant supports! I typically use Viguro, but it really depends on what is on sale.
hahah oh dear, I went out to film today's video and the neighbor decided to clean out some buckets with a hose!!! DOH!
When do you plant these types of bulbs? What month?
I’m planting mine at the end of March

I just got a liatris bulbs , but I don’t find no videos when to plant them . What month was this and what zone are you at .
+THE GONZALEZ'S it depends on your zone … I’m in zone 8a and you can plant them now until May.

What month do you start planting? I’m in the North east zone 7?
Zone 8 in Texas

Yes they come back each year and yes you can leave the bulbs in the ground.
My bulbs of liatris from home depot said to plant 6 inches. Some were already sprouting. Hopefully they don't die 😢
No worries! Mine have done great at their depth but that doesn’t mean yours won’t do well! And already sprouting is a good thing!
When they flower it will be like a mix flower shrub
Hi MadGardner😊😊 I have tried so many times & so many packets of bulbs from (liatris)1 year I had luck next year trans planted them. They never returned,,, & so many packets no success what am I doing wrong. From Germany 😮😮😮
