When I was a child we had raw milk all the time. No one ever called it raw milk. It was just milk 😂. My husband was just saying ice cream was better when we put the eggs in it
I’m highly allergic to raw eggs. I cannot even imagine what would happen if I accidentally ingested some. Please always tell people when you have raw eggs in anything.
I grew up on a farm drinking loads of raw milk everyday as well (albeit from a Holstein cow). We used to do the hand crank ice cream as well - it was amazing. Since moving into the "big city" I really don't drink that much milk anymore - just not the same. Every time I see someone put raw milk they just produced into a cup a coffee though it makes me long for those days - nothing better. Nice work on this video.

Ok, could you have ended this video any more adorable!?🥰 We are just getting started in dairy with our first small herd of goats. We are loving having raw milk around the house! Currently any extra goes straight into our freeze dryer to powder because I don't want to buy any milk over the winter when we dry our girls off! Next year hoping to have even more to "play" with and make all the things! I love the morning drink you demonstrated; one of my twenty-something sons is always looking for something with a bit more protein to help him make it through his day!
Our favorite basic way to use dairy is to make yogurt! We use Greek culture like you and find that overnight 12-14hr does the job well without it getting too sour. We have it on pancakes as a special occasion food on a Saturday morning, with fruit. Thanks for your easy to watch video as always.
Hello from NC. I am new to your channel just happened along y'all within the last week and I am truly enjoying your content. Very excited to have a new homesteading channel to watch and learn from. Thanks and God Bless.
I absolutely loved this video! You gave so much important information about milk and its benefits and even the downside of consuming too much dairy. The kids are so cute and love that they are so happy on your farm. Thanks so much for this wonderful video and all the tips you gave, as well.
We make butter, yogurt and cheese every week and ice cream at least once a month... I'll have to try your ice cream recipe next time! The easiest way we have found to make yogurt is in an instant pot and a yogurt strainer because we like thick Greek yogurt.
That's awesome! Greek yogurt is a favorite of mine as well...It's a bit more time-consuming though so Michelle only does it occasionally:) Good luck on the ice cream!
Sounds like you have a good handle on utilizing your dairy abundance! I just learned how to make butter....we love the taste. It is nothing like store bought!
I just found your channel yesterday and I love your videos! I also think we live within an hour of your farm!!! We currently live in northern Fayette County (Jeffersonville) but will be moving soon to northern Ross County to a property with just over 5 acres. So, hello neighbors!!! We have laying hens already and plan on adding a beef cow or two in the near future. I'd love to have a dairy cow and am so pleased to hear that you only milk once a day...I think that's way more doable than the thought of having to be home by a certain time every single day twice a day. Can't wait to continue learning stustainable homesteading with your family!
What an awesome video! Thanks for reminding me about my stick blender. It was in my sons shed and I totally forgot about it. I’ve made homemade ice cream, but my favorite thing to make would have to be butter! Your little girl is an absolute doll. I was raised on fresh raw milk and it’s so inspiring to see her being raised on natures best! Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed this video. 🥰
Thank you! One of the best things about milking our cow is watching the kids enjoy the milk! Our oldest son used to cry and refuse to drink store milk when our cow was dry;) Cheers for stick blenders!
Thanks for all the great ideas and the kids and I can't wait to try some or all of these! We found your channel by watching all the videos in this collab playlist! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Hi Codi, great video about all of the uses for milk in your Household. I don't know if you follow The Pastured Homestead channel but Zach also had a lot of stomach issues that were helped with Guernsey milk as opposed the other cows milk. Glad that Michelle found something that helped as having Gut issues is the worst.
Someday, I will have a homestead of my own, and your videos have given me some seriously good information. I hope to be at least half as skillful as you guys when that day comes.
What a little cutie! "it's nummy, Dad". Thanks for the great video. Loved all the ideas! We have a few Guernsey as nurse Moms for extra beef calves so when I get that first rush of milk, I'm making all sorts of things to freeze, butter being the most important. Then I get told there's calves on the cow and I'm done for the year Wow, if you haven't tasted cookies make with homemade butter, you have no idea what you're missing!
All the way from KY, we are happy to meet you, new to your channel! Cant wait to watch more of your videos. Love the fact that you all do the cow share. We have been looking for a farm to get milk with no luck yet. Milk has so many uses as you have shown but ice cream would be my favorite if I had to pick one as well. Thanks for showing us all the ways you all like to use it. Butter for a year, wow, thats a lot of work but will be so rewarding! Blessings to you and your family. Watching through the collab.
Thank you so much for sharing these delicious, nutritious recipes with all of us! I recently discovered your channel, and I love watching. I actually knew nothing about this collaboration on dairy month before I saw this video!
I healed my gut the same way Michelle did! Took time but so worth it! Unfortunately I live in homeowners association that will not allow cows. I buy organic milk and cream. Still can’t drink milk but can enjoy other dairy products.
Thanks for sharing all your dairy ideas. We enjoy making yogurt the most. So easy, and gets used up quickly. I don’t have anything fancy and also pour my cultured milk into mason jars and have a seed mat on the bottom of a small cooler with a towel on top. Works like a charm.
Thank you for the tip to add raw eggs to my ice cream recipe. I hadn’t added eggs to my recipes yet because of the hassle of cooking them first then letting the mixture cool. I got over my out of proportion fear (seriously, I eat raw batter!), I made a batch and it was amazing! Sooo happy! Thank you!
Good morning new friends. I got a tick bite and cannot do meat, dairy, gluten, or processed foods it’s been a life changing event. So I cannot consume dairy. However, my family still can. I would love to find a local farmer for raw milk. There are a few and they have a waiting list for the milk. Before the tick bite I have asthma and couldn’t consume much milk but loved chocolate milk. I can do the nut milks. Building a house is stressful we are in the process and have waited a year for windows and the waiting on materials has been so hard. I am so ready to be done! I appreciate the wife’s explanation on the difference in the cows and grass fed vs, grain fed and different breeds. New to your channel. I hope you have a blessed week! Wendy🙏🏻🇺🇸🌎
Wow...sorry about the tick bite. Food restrictions are tough...we hope that you will find healing for your health issues. We know it can be a long hard road. Best wishes on the house!
Don't forget your can culture your cream for homemade Sour cream, cultured skimmed milk for "buttermilk" , and kefir and CHEEEESE. Though i know cheese making is no joke when you're first learning. But you can use up A TON of milk that way. I'm working my way through the "homemade dairy" course through Carol they have a you tube channel "homesteading family" and she has great tutorials on all kinds of stuff. Thanks for the reminder to make ice cream with it! ❤❤❤
A small portion of the milk, you can add lemon juice and turn it into sour cream for taco night! Plus, I wondered if you could split milk with additional water which reduces the excess weight gain yet still provides the nourishment for your body.
Thanks for the video. Even 14 gallons of milk a week would be a lot to get thru for me. I hope to find a cow share, otherwise I guess I will be getting milk goats. I think having access to fresh raw milk is something most people would benefit from. Cheers.
i have a brother-in-law that grew up on a dairy farm in Nebraska and still drinks lots of milk. The problem with too much of anything is there are side effects. His was kidney stones from having more calcium in his system that his body could use. Great video. Yes, I am binge watching as I just found you on RUclips about a week ago.
Thank you for putting in the fda warning. ❤ I don’t know the ratio, but vanilla beans and gin make vanilla extract. I made mine almost a year ago, and it’s the best vanilla extract I’ve used.
We are in southern Ohio about 40 minutes outside cincy. We had our wonderful jersey cow Tink for over 3 years. But then our hay guy ended up ghosting us and we couldn’t find any hay to feed her over the winter. So we sold her to a family in Tennessee. Miss her so much. Want to have a cow back on the homestead again. Miss the raw milk so much
I used to buy Guernsey milk from a country neighbor and it was so rich and delicious. Better than all other kinds of milk. Their cows were Gigantic! Very big and tall. Enjoy!
I used to be able to buy raw milk when I lived in the States. Now not only do I not have access to raw milk, I can rarely find fresh milk. When I do it is about $5/liter! Boxed and powdered milk are the norm. I can hardly wait to get a milk cow so I can have all of the deliciousness! Thank you for the great video!
I found your video/channel through the collab and LeAnne's playlist. Glad to meet you. Your video and editing is beautiful. I've recently moved to my homestead (it'll be 2 years this fall). I'd like to have a milk animal at some point but I'm not ready yet. Thank you for this video! I'd LOVE to be able to make my own ice cream.
When I lived in Missouri I only bought raw milk from the farms Knowing that they were grass fed and the people was really nice. And I really can’t drink store milk but had no issues with the fresh raw milk. And yes! You definitely can add weight with out moderation. I learned that the hard way. Since moving to Texas I’m back on a hunt for a good dairy farm. Really enjoyed your video
I was always told that raw milk was not safe to eat or drink. I'm learning that is not true thanks to people like you. We dint have dairy cows now but it's definitely something to consider in the future. Thanks again.
I love your channel. Side note, for me, raw milk was the cure. I have suffered with IBS for 40 years, bad enough to be hospitalized many times. Since getting my cows 12 years ago that went away. I also have a 15 year old ice cream maker like yours. They are so convenient and easy. I also make frozen yogurt in it. Best of luck!
If you hang some fresh yogurt in a bag made of cheesecloth some of the whey will drip out and you will get a thick spreadable yogurt spread. There are also a few types of soft cheese that are super easy to make like mozzarella or farmers cheese.
If you grow cucurbits and they develop powdery mildew a mix of 10% skim milk and water will sloe the spread significantly, you can increas the milk to what ever level you want so 100% milk will also work on the PM
Dont hate me, but i despise ice cream. Im all for making butter though. Its probably the most usefull, versatile and necessary item to be made from milk.
When I was a child we had raw milk all the time. No one ever called it raw milk. It was just milk 😂. My husband was just saying ice cream was better when we put the eggs in it
Yes! The eggs make it creamier:) Let's make raw milk that normal again!
Me too! We had raw milk until i immigrated to the US. 😢
I’m highly allergic to raw eggs. I cannot even imagine what would happen if I accidentally ingested some. Please always tell people when you have raw eggs in anything.

Good morning new friends. I got a tick bite and cannot do meat, dairy, gluten, or processed foods it’s been a life changing event. So I cannot consume dairy. However, my family still can. A small portion of the milk, you can add lemon juice and turn it into sour cream for taco night! Plus, I wondered if you could split milk with additional water which reduces the excess weight gain yet still provides the nourishment for your body.
I’d rather keep it whole and drink less 😊
Thanks. Interesting journey with your consumption
Wow! Love this chocolate shake recipe. I have a bad knee didn't know the extra collagen could help. Thanks for the tips.❤

Thanks for the video. Even 14 gallons of milk a week would be a lot to get thru for me. I hope to find a cow share, otherwise I guess I will be getting milk goats. I think having access to fresh raw milk is something most people would benefit from. Cheers.

I think learning to make your own yogurt and ice cream would be amazing. What a nice treat
It really is!
Thank you for putting in the fda warning. ❤
I don’t know the ratio, but vanilla beans and gin make vanilla extract. I made mine almost a year ago, and it’s the best vanilla extract I’ve used.
Sounds great!
Miss the raw milk so much
That's a rough time. Hoping you can get that wonderful milk somehow this year!
I love ur lifestyle, ur relationship and ur beautiful children.❤❤❤
I used to buy Guernsey milk from a country neighbor and it was so rich and delicious. Better than all other kinds of milk. Their cows were Gigantic! Very big and tall. Enjoy!

Welcome to the community! So glad to have you here!
Wow! That's such an interesting story! Thanks for sharing! and so glad you can enjoy raw dairy!
You guys are awesome
I found you guys about three days ago and I'm in love with you , your parents should be proud of you and your way of life. Love it.
Thank you so much 😊
@@morethanfarmers You are very welcome .
Milk, yogurt, butter, cheese, ice cream, they're all my favorite. Enjoyed the video. Thanks!
Amen! No need to choose just one;)
If you hang some fresh yogurt in a bag made of cheesecloth some of the whey will drip out and you will get a thick spreadable yogurt spread.
There are also a few types of soft cheese that are super easy to make like mozzarella or farmers cheese.
Wow! That’s all I can say!!❤
Love your videos. Watching from Jamaica 🇯🇲 😊.
That's awesome! Welcome to the community!
Ice cream is my favorite dairy product
If you grow cucurbits and they develop powdery mildew a mix of 10% skim milk and water will sloe the spread significantly, you can increas the milk to what ever level you want so 100% milk will also work on the PM
Thanks for that!
This was great I’ve been on the fence about getting an ice cream maker and now I’m sold! Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
Getting a dairy cow is next on my list. So many great ideas for using up the milk in your video. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Go for it...You won't regret it:)
There is nothing better than Chocolate Milk!!
Amen to that!
I’m so excited to find your channel! I’m from SE Ohio and homesteading too! ☺️
Wonderful! Great to have Ohioans on here!
Dont hate me, but i despise ice cream. Im all for making butter though. Its probably the most usefull, versatile and necessary item to be made from milk.
Haha...each to his own:) We love butter too!
