"Yes, ma'am." Priceless. Mr. Farnsworth was an old school gentleman, and it's sad that he came to acting so late in life. But what he did was marvelous - every role, just wonderful.
He reminds me much of one of my grandpas. How I miss him...his quiet ways, his unending and loyal support. He was just there. He touched my heart in a way few others have. Just like Matthew with Anne.
In the 1980 film, Resurrection, he plays Esco, a man who runs a small service station in the middle of nowhere. Ellen Burstyn has an exchange with him that makes me cry every time. His few moments in this film made me admire him so much. And his dream trip comes true.
Such a kind heart, this came across onscreen through Matthew’s character. I love how Megan knows his history and accolades. Sounds like she’s known him for awhile and hung out with his grandson, how awesome.
These are actors. Not like today. These actors are less vein and have more depth and have given great memories.💓 There is something very endearing about Canadians.
Awww he looks and acts so much like my beloved birth Father who sadly passed away almost twenty years ago. May they both rest in peace. God bless them.
Mr. Farthsworth what a beautiful man with such beautiful soul. He truly was Mathew.... He could be my grandpa any day.. Just a humble kindhearted soul, just love him.. Yes ma'am I just love his laugh.. Cowboys with John Wayne and Colleen Dewhurst... RIP Richard what a great legend in our heart's
Hello, everyone. I highly recommend watching a movie called, "Straight Story." It is a gem of a movie and what some might refer to as a "sleeper." Mr. Farnsworth is in it, along with Harry Dean Stanton.
I often work with stuntspeople. The moment he said "yes ma'am" to Megan, 60 years his junior, I thought he sounded like a stuntman. Humble and respectful, and also kind of soldier-like. What a golden soul. A badass Matthew, through and through.
I love his voice. Kinda boyish and shy. So sweet. The cast was all perfect together. I see a hint of green in Megan's hair, here. I wonder what scene they were about to shoot?? Hmmm 😆
Just doesn't seem like the type that one finds in North Hollywood. He lived there most of his life. Was expecting a more interesting bio. Nevertheless a great actor.
Watch that young girl start some subliminal alluring seductive body language near the end at 3 minutes in on the vid ..She was smitten by the old guy ..So was I :)
Such a humble man with a sweet shyness. Nobody else could have played matthew.
He was perfect as Matthew. Kind, mellow, with a sparkle in his eye.

Richard Farnsworth gave this part such warmth.
I fell in love with his character, Matthew Cuthbert, now I've fallen in love with him. What an absolutely lovely gentle man.
He really was!
Love this man. He is absolutely riveting on film ... can't take my eyes off him.
Monelle Richmond what about marilla :(
@@darkbubblepenguin9865 I am certain she loved Colleen as well. It's evident from the interview that he admired her very much

He doesn't say it here but Richard was also on the set of Gone with the Wind - and until his death was the last remaining (living) cast member.
Actually, Olivia de Havilland, (Melanie Hamilton) is still alive.
She is 100 years old.
Who did he play?
@@mimijoyce6232 At the time he was a stuntman. It was much later he started acting.
No, that was Olivia de Haviland who played Melanie. She's only recently passed within the last year or two.
He was just so humble and kind. So sad he’s passed now. I would’ve loved to met him.
No wonder he played such a perfect Matthew, he basically was playing himself
Love him. He always reminded me of my Papa.
me too

Goodness! He was a stuntman! Thanks for posting this. Love Matthew!
He was in his house 4 miles west of Lincoln, New Mexico when he took his life. The pain of his cancer had become unbearable. RIP Richard Farnsworth.
This encounter was so sweet and genuine. What a lovely lovely man, humble, honest, hardworking and unforgettable. Thank you for posting it.
I loved the movie, Anne of Green Gables with Richard Farnsworth (may he rest in peace).
I have admired him fir years. He was the perfect Matthew Cuthbert. R.I.P. mr Farnsworth

I loved this interview. It was very interesting.
Megan is adorable
Matthew , que personaje mas lindoo.
Ultimate grandpa for me
Check out Straight Story with Richard. He was amazing in that.
Thanks for posting! :)
Very sad what happened to him. Poor guy had cancer and shot himself back in 2000
He was amazing when he was Matthew & I feel sad that it was a one shot!
La parte mas triste cuando murio el abuelito.
It seems that Megan is just as lovable as Anne.
Was Megan knitting while talking to him?
He killed himself which is so sad
Tej Canada już nie ma
He's sweet Matthew in the series, but there's something sexy about him? He's very charismatic.
I didn't know Matthew was American....
didn't Richard commit suicide due 2 cancer?
Darlene Ferree That´s what I read too.
He was partially paralyzed due to cancer, and he he knew that that it was going to get worse, so he shot himself to avoid future suffering.
Abinash Mishra thxs for infor-he was great in "anne of green gables".
Darlene Ferree yes. he did.
Just doesn't seem like the type that one finds in North Hollywood.
He lived there most of his life. Was expecting a more interesting bio.
Nevertheless a great actor.
