@Hecatecrossways it's the beginning of Metal. some Sabbath songs can be considered funky, or soft, but they're the creators of metal. Forever My Queen is straight up metal. Review Your Choices is absolutely Doom. But even later iterations, like the Keg Full of Dynamite era (around 1977) was full on Doom metal by that point. Then the Death Row era. Pentagram has largely been Doom Metal for much of their existence, but this 1973 era was definitely more diverse in their sound. Bobby came from doing 60s covers (like Cream) which you can find on RUclips (their pre Pentagram stuff). Vincent (the guitarist here) idolized Hendrix and Blue Cheer. Now Bedemon, which was a offshoot of Pentagram in 1973 that had Bobby on vocals, Geof Okeef (the Pentagram drummer) on drums and guitar, was straight up Doom, even doomier and heavier than Pentagram, with a much more Sabbath influence.
@BSIII I really like their early material, sometimes texting an idea gets lost in translation , especially expressing it in as few words as possible. My favorite song is definitely Burning Savior from Day of Reckoning. I was disappointed in their self titled 1985 debut , it just seems so 1990s Grunge sounding in places. The only songs I really liked from the debut album were Deathrow , and Relentless ( maybe also the album title? ) . I like everything from First Daze Here?. I recently lost a lot of albums when I moved , unfortunately the aforementioned Pentagram releases were among them. All I currently have to listen to is some scratched up Day of Reckoning, Be Forwarned greatest hits? Placerville package CD . Even worse, every track but Burning Savior? Plays fine . That song won't play through. I can't find anything by Pentagram in the Record Stores, and have tried to order some, and gotten phone calls from the stores a month later telling me that they can't find anything.
@Hecatecrossways Burning Savior is probably my favorite Pentagram song too. It's insanely good. That intro riff is 🔥 There's a few rare live versions uploaded to RUclips. You'll probably see me in the comments on them 😆
@@BSIII exactly, the rest of pentagrams discography is amazing but all this early 70s stuff is mind blowing, would’ve blown the entire world away if they landed the right deal back then, might’ve even been bigger than sabbath
This definitely has a Groove to it. If they added even heavier elements later on they could have been one of the first Groove metal bands just saying. The guitarist is definitely a beast.
@BSIII Thanks, it just seemed like a funny thing to say. The dude ain't really that fat , but posing for a photo with skinny dudes makes someone appear Heavier. I only have seen one picture of Victor in my life ( taken around the Be Forwarned era) and he had dark hair. Although being huskies, I just thought that he looked the most like the photo I had seen. People often lose weight, especially when they are in a touring band. I have been a Pentagram fan for many years, but I have never really seen many pictures of the classic band. Other than Bobby, they have had multiple musicians in and out of the band. I have never seen them live . They have never played within 500 miles from where I live. And I haven't heard anything about shows
Funky music, not very Metal. It sounds like Traffic's more Bluesy tracks. Bobby looks like that he was inspired by David Byron's image. I bet a lot of people mistaked him for Byron during the popular era of Uriah Heep.
This is probably the closest we will get to hear Vincent McAllister live, and in his purest form. What a monster guitarist.
This ain't Heavy Metal at all , it sounds like Funk

Didn't even know this existed... I am very late to the party. but thanks very much for uploading 😎
1973, full album--amazing stuff!
7:40 Vincent going absolutely bonkers on lead guitar.
Love the chemistry he has with Greg too playing the bass under and around Vinces solo, RIP to the both of them
@@thewitchfindergeneral4015 these guys would've been household names if things didnt turn out the way they did. Doom legends

GREAT ... a very HENDRIXIAN beginning !!!

Dam been looking for this version of Yes I do! It's so groovy! 😎🤙
El mejor 🎸
If things had been different..
I swear Vincent was a funkadelic/eddie hazel fan. I can hear maggot brain and free your mind in his playing.
For sure
He heard it I'm sure at least
😂😂is Victor the big fat dude in the band?😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Hecatecrossways Nah, Vincent is the tall blonde guy. The heavy set guy is Geof Okeef.

1971 I believe!
It's all over NOW!
Groovy!
Awesome!

Whoa
Full album звучит хуже чем Pentagram Demo того же года. А качество игры лучше. Жаль. Но такое бывает..
