- The country’s political parties now have just one week left before the first sitting of parliament. With a government of national unity being what the ANC wants, parties have so much to discuss but so little time. What happens if they can't come to any agreement at all?

Do what’s best for the country and its people. That simple
Corruption and division has plunged this country into total chaos. Agreements between these parties remains to be seen.
Agreement must be made based on honesty of purpose, with the country being the main issue. A collective effort to galvanize South Africa forward as a nation which is a common niche to all these parties that are bickering.lts either South Africa sinks or it rises. These leaders Must realize this, bury their hatchets and build the country together, with honesty of purpose. That is what defines Great Nations.
Filling up stadiums did not result in any party improving on their previous votes results. Only M.K became a winner from Zero to 15%. Parties should stop the stadiums madness and use that money wisely.
Celebrating your electorate's continuous support is literally spending money wisely.

I dont understand the fights and disagreements between parties regarding the forming of a coalition. The matter is quite simple, either the top 2 or top 3 parties that were voted for should form a coalition. A party that came out 4th of 5th has no right to claim that one that came out 2nd or 3rd should not be part of the coalition. These parties are in those positions because they have been voted in that way by the people of South Africa. If they are excluded then the voices of those citizens that voted for them have been shut. You are basically saying that voters have no voice and thus there was no point in voting, meaning the elections were not free and fair and also meaning there is no democracy in this country. You cannot give someone that came out 5th place a prize of a 2nd place winner and completely removing one that came out 2nd place and not even give them the prize they deserve. Then there is no point at all in competing. Remove the word democratic from our constitution then.

I hear you. It's just that the way our constitution works and is intended that the voices of the people need be heard. Whether a political party has the most votes isn't enough really. It is about what most of the people want in the end. So that is the intention of the system. It is to give power to the parties that might not have the majority.
It is just really unfortunate how deeply divided our country is politically.
And it is an awkward transition we are dealing with now. Into a more thorough democracy. There will be growing pains.
And if they want to do something useful, the other parties can vote for it. Would be amazing if the politicians actually acted in the best interest of the country!

Seems like the GNU is basically a bit of a cop-out - more lack of leadership and decision-making in the best interest of SA and all South Africans!
If only parties with more than 10% can join the GNU as in 1994 and MK not interested or invited then basically a coalition between ANC and DA (as EFF below 10%)... if you drop the participation % (even as low as 1%), then at best you add IFP, PA, Action SA and FF+... will be very difficult to control and very volatile as well as a hectic opposition of EFF and MK - could be tough times ahead! Fingers crossed for good leadership for SA!
