Just realized the actor who plays Arthur is Ethan Hawke, father of the actress who plays Robin in Stranger Things! Very cool to be seeing the fam in different shows!
it's so adorable how you say 'we' when referring to the protagonist instead of 'him' that's so cute! loved your reaction and commentary, you got yourself a new subscriber
I absolutely love Emme, and her reactions show how sweet she is. I am so glad it eventually occurred to me to check out her earlier reactions. Lots of reactions to watch!
Moon Knight is my 2nd favorite Marvel show (after WandaVision) and the storytelling is fantastic because it remains very unpredictable and keeps throwing loops. Glad you'll be doing the MCU in release order! Definitely the way to go 👍
@@emme OH and I meant to say I love your reactions and how thoughtful you get in your questioning. I grew up on Marvel Comics and I'm loving the shows and movies because moreso than DC Comics (in my opinion), Marvel shows heroes with struggles and gray areas, and how they are often shunned for being "different". Always great social commentary.
Moon Knight is indeed a hell of a ride. Most of if not all your questions will be answered. Any lore questions you have, several creators in Tiktok have done interesting facts about Moon Knight without going into spoiler territory. I loved the darker tone it takes compared to other marvel projects and dives deep into the psyche as well. As you pointed out already it really makes you think which I find so refreshing
I love all your thoughts throughout this reaction. It's interesting seeing you dive into philosophy while watching, can't wait for your other reactions!
I used to go camping all the time as a kid. I was also a pretty bad sleepwalker. On two different occasions I woke up somewhere in the woods, my untied shoes on, far enough away from my tent that I couldn't see it any more. It's a pretty horrifying experience.
This was one of my favorite MCU series. Love how you just started calling Steven as Me, We, Us. I know this is over a month old but since I discovered your channel, I'm binging those shows that I have also watched and loved.
Moon knight definitely my favorite MCU show along with Hawkeye, FATWS and loki❤️ thank you for reacting to this☺️ will wait for your more Moon knight reactions
MK Is one of my favorite MCU titles. It is rather special in that it's almost entirely self-contained with no knowledge of the MCU needed and very few references.
Watching this and Split has got me wondering about DID. Like what it's like and how people handle this? I know the "personalities" are not all evil, just different minds living in one body. Side note, I can't stop watching the ending of this episode. It's so epic and I have the credit song on my ipod.
I had a lot of the same questions. There is a channel here on RUclips called The Infinity System run by someone who has DID. He breaks down a lot of the myths of the illness (no, people with DID are not any more dangerous than anyone else) and he even did a Moon Knight series where he judges it based against real DID. Be patient, his first episode or two, he thought Khonshu was another "internal voice" personality, but he gets this all cleared up by episode 3. It is an amazing viewing experience! The host is Chris, he is amazingly honest about his condition. It was very educational for me. (if I seem like I am geeking out on it, I just discovered his channel a few days ago and binged it all.)
Great reaction. Very good observations and questions. Moon Knight has been my favourite comic book character since the early 1980's. You're in for quite an amazing ride. Easily the best video content Marvel has ever created, movies included...
Watch the entire MCU in release order only!....never break off from the release order no matter what happens...else it will also affect the post credit scenes experience!
Your apprehension about facing judgment reminded me of a great issue of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing (#43); Swamp Thing is able to grow these hallucinogenic tubers that a character named Chester Williams discovers will give good people an amazing become-one-with-the-infinite-beauty-of-the-universe kind of trip, but it gives bad people a terrible nightmare trip into madness reliving the horrors of Swamp Thing's life. The issue ends with Chester, understanding this, agonizing over whether he should try the last piece himself: "I think I'm a good person. I mean, that's what I try to be... I don't abuse the planet, or other people, and I'm never violent or anything... But, like, I still eat meat, and I sometimes think some pretty bad things... I said some stuff to Suzanne before she left, and I wish I hadn't said it. I was so bitter. But, hell, there's worse people than me. At least I never hit a woman. Some guys do that all the time! I guess in the end, you're as good a person as you think you are... It's just a question of faith, that's all." He picks it up, brings it up close to his mouth but can't bring himself to eat it, putting it down. "Nahh."
I collected comics from 1987 to 2005, almost twenty years. I have 20 long boxes of comics, each box containing maybe 200 comics. In those boxes I have complete runs of every single comic book Moon Knight ever appeared in, including both of his series, the West Coast Avengers run where he was a member of the group, his miniseries, and even his guest appearance in other comics. It's one of the prides of my collection, having every Moon Knight comic. He is one of my all time favorite superheroes, number 3 in my Top 5, right behind Spider-Man and Captain America, and just before Daredevil and the Shroud. I am a certifiable Moon Knight expert. Consequently, absolutely nothing in this show surprised or confused me. It is *really* fun watching someone who knows *nothing* about this character get to experience him. You have no idea what an insane trip you are in for. Moon Knight is one of the most unique characters in comics. He often gets written off as "Batman in white," but this show really does a great job of showing how Marc Spector is nothing at all like Bruce Wayne. And that's the only spoiler I'm giving you. :)
@@isaacbrown7936 I'd give it a B. Moon Knight has a very complicated history and has been handled by a host of different writers with very different ideas about the character which has result in some "canon wars" as different writers tried to undo the work of other writers. Some writers have tried to erase the DID aspect, others have tried to remove the mystical elements. Often the DID writers were the ones who hated the mystical aspects, while the mystic writers hated the DID aspect. The writers of this show managed to focus on the most interesting aspects of the character and did a great job of realizing it. And I do want to give the writers credit for incorporating all these diverse elements and balancing them all. I don't want to spoil anything in case emme reads this comment, but I *really* liked how they incorporated the alternate costume. I don't even mind that they *completely* changed who Steven Grant is (he's supposed to be a suave, ultra-rich playboy, not a nebbish Egyptologist). I can't give it an A however because of three things: 1) Moon Knight himself is just...not in the show enough. I really would have liked some more focus on his costumed identity and his awesome collection of Egypt-themed toys. And just more scenes of him fighting. The "Steven passes out and all the villains are beaten" is a cool conceit, but it does rob us of a lot of Moon Knight action. 2) The complete and utter lack of the Mooncopter, which is silly but one of my favorite aspects of the character. Maybe they'll do a second series and we'll find out Marc has it stashed away somewhere. 3) The complete absence of Frenchie and Marlene. Layla seems to be a replacement character for Marlene and is basically indistinguishable from Marlene (except that Marlene is blonde European and Layla is brunette Egyptian), and that's fine (though I don't know why they had to change her name), but Frenchie is just completely missing. I kind of understand why they did that, since Marc basically plays the role of Steven's confidant, which is Frenchie's role in the comic, but I still miss him.
Nice reaction, you pay attention and you're very observant ! Little info for future episodes (it's not spoilers since it's said in the synopsis of episode 1) Steven has DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). But there's something else going on too, which you saw got explained in episode 2. Also alter-ego isn't accurate but it's better than saying 'other personality', fyi the word is 'alter' for future use ^_^
Let me tell you one thing about this show... you're gonna have a LOT of questions and a LOT of overthinking, but you will understand it all in the end Keep in mind this entire show is based on foreshadowing ;)
Yeah the plenty of questions was definitely a theme in this video for how much I said the phrases "what" or "what's happening?" or "what's going on" LOL
Regarding real people and their sleepwalking, look no further than Mike Birbiglia. He's a very successful comedian and storyteller, and he's got plenty of stories about how bad his sleepwalking is and why his sleep routine _has_ to be so extreme so he doesn't accidentally kill himself. As a touring comic, I'm sure he spends more of his year in various hotel rooms than at home. In each hotel he has to ask for a ground-floor room, since I'm pretty sure at one point he got up and sprinted himself through a second-story window? I believe his routine involves zipping a sleeping bag up to his neck and taping mittens onto his hands so he can't work the zipper himself. He made a movie about himself called _"sleepwalk with me"_ that must cover some of it in a scripted way, but I've heard many stories on podcasts. I'm not sure where I could point you, but I'm sure searching his name and sleepwalking would get you somewhere easily.
I'm intrigued with the sign off. Stay hydrated and stretch your legs are pretty standard but don't get arrested? It makes no damn sense... Compels me, though.
#emme, you're so sweet. I love you very much, and I really appreciate you for uploading this awesome reaction video. Your content is absolutely amazing, and I love watching you react to different shows and movies.
In the marvel watch order I would recommend putting other movies or shows outside of the mcu, like: fox's x-men franchise, netflix's defenders shows, the tobey maguire spiderman movies, andrew garfield spiderman movies and sony spiderverse movies (with the exception of morbius, that movie you should skip). The other things outside of mcu you can skip. Websites doesn't talk about these franchises, because it wasn't produced as part of mcu. If you want to you can skip the last two x-men movies (dark phoenix and new mutants) and you can stop watching "netflix" shows if you don't like them, only essential is daredevil, it is way better than most disney+ shows. If you want I can short these non mcu produced things down, or if you need anything for your marvel watch order, I would be happy to help.
After Moon Knight you should really consider watching the MCU in release order otherwise the end credit scenes are pointless if you watch in chronological order.
This is my first MCU reaction although I am planning on going in release order through it all after Moon Knight! Just thought I'd start with Moon Knight since I'm relatively impatient and have heard really cool things about this show, and also the fact that it is more stand-alone from other MCU series/movies.
Interesting choice. It is about as Stand Alone as you can get right now in the MCU. But also one of it's more fantasy properties. So if you can get behind the idea of gods among us then I'm sure you'll enjoy all the mystic, mythic, and superpowered suspensions of disbelief. I can tell that you're in for one helluva ride. The MCU is so good. Even it's "worst" movies/shows are still highly enjoyable popcorn flix. And just a little FYI. A long time ago, Marvel was doing really bad and they wanted to expand into TV and Movies. I guess they got a taste of The Hulk on TV and wanted more but it was some pretty horrible stuff. The original Captain America is just pure cringe. So yeah, Marvel was on it's deathbed. So they sold some of their IP. Universal Studios got (and still has) The Hulk. I guess they have permanent rights to him but Marvel is allowed to use him as long as it's not his own feature thing. Sony Pictures bought Spiderman and still owns him but recently they have been playing nice with Disney and allowing Spidey to "go home" and see his Marvel buddies...been a pretty good arrangement. And Fox Studios had bought the X-Men and Fantastic 4. Then recently Disney had bought Fox Studios so now the F4 and X-Men are back in the Marvel sandbox. But this means for a while the MCU had to be creative. They couldn't refer to mutants because Fox owned that term referring to superpowered enabled people. So they would call them "enhanced". In the Marvel world there's a very powerful & useful metal. But because Fox owned the character Wolverine & his use of that metal they had to call it by another name, "vibranium". And there are sometimes grey areas with a character's origin. In some stories they are mutants but in other comics they're just superpowered. That's why you may eventually see duplicate characters.
Isn't Moon Knight the best? Oscar Isaac is great in this, I hope they have a second season of this show or have Moon Knight in some other Marvel movie, maybe like Blade.
