When weather is bad, showroom is better. However, I think outside does more justice to the trucks, especially the T800's and W900's, by having the natural lighting gleam on the fresh paint and the cab view outside gives a better perspective on what a driver would see from the drivers seat.

I'm not in the market for a new tractor but I had to stop and drool over such a gorgeous truck.
I can't wait to be able to go to a dealership and buy my own truck. I'm only 27 and been driving for 3 years but it's definitely something I wanna do long term so I can truly be my own boss. Loved the video, huge fan of Kenworth especially the W900s. I call them the castles on wheels

In Australia we have maximum OALs so we don't anything but skinny sleeper cabs so we use every inch we can for cargo.
Paccar/Kenworth is located in the suburb of Kilsyth in Melbourne.
In regards to your question about how someone would lock themselves out:
With the door open, you hold the handle so the latch is in the open position and then you manually lock the door by pushing interior lock. Then when you close the door, it remains locked. I do it all the time when I keep my truck idling if I’m just running in the store real quick and then use my spare key to get back in. So perhaps some folks do the same thing but forget their spare key isn’t with them, thus locking themselves out. I’ll do it to myself one day. 😂

Being a trucker for over 40 years. Kenworth has always been my type of power unit since the 1960s. But it was the infamous W-Series of the '70s when the TV Show Mov'n On was on, with the W925A I think it was. I guess we almost lost the W900 to the new variation the W990, so I hear. I am glad smarter heads prevailed this time around. So she will be with us a bit longer. Good news. Good video and good information...

Pull the door handle and then press the lock button, should lock then. Or manually roll the lock to the locked position. That said the lockout prevention feature is a nice touch. Also showroom tour is best, nice and quiet and clean.

That light on the door that lights up the steps and the ground. Came out first on Land Rover they installed it on the bottom of the outside mirrors. They call it puddle lamp. The idea came at the suggestion of Queen of England. Interesting tidbit.
I have always liked the looks of a Kenworth. They have a more aggressive looking front then other trucks. Also drive really nice going down the road. My issue are those damn steps. I don't know if it is because I'm not the tallest person or how the top step angles outwards. But I can't even count how many times I have had my knee slam into it. Which usually leads to me bolting to a standing position on the step leading to slamming my head into the top of the door frame.
my dogs have locked me out before , but luckily more sidebox was unlocked and i managed to climb into sleeper
From my experience driving my kw, the only way to lock the driver door with the door open is if when you hit the lock button but the electronics are glitching/lagging and it just does it, it’s not an every time kinda thing, just every once in a while
I would like a little bit of both tour of the vehicle, I would love to see the performance of the vehicle you present.

As for your question, I don’t mind where you film. It’s nice when you do it in the showroom so you don’t have to deal with wind or other sounds like trucks and cars driving by. But if it’s nice and quiet outside, then go for it!

No real preference on the videos location, but if I have only one choice, the showroom inside tours, is my pick since day or night can be done without a lighting issue or weather issue. 244 seems to be really short wheelbase for a W900L. I know you guys up in Canada cannot have the longer wheelbases that we have here in the states. 280 and 290 are common here. Great looking truck. If someone told me today this is my truck I would take it in a heartbeat and be a very happy camper. Does Santa Claus deliver in April?? Something about the red color makes this KW stand out. Great color. Once again another great video with lots of usable informative content. Baseball season is here and ANDY has hit a grand slam with this sweet KW 900. Thanks for posting and sharing.
Hahha. Thanks bro! We can go longer than 244”. The law changed a few years back. Not sure if you’ve seen some of the purple trucks I’ve done... those are 265. I also have done some 270” trucks. Coming soon.

Hold the door handle open inside the truck while moving the lock into the lock position. You might have to work the handle back and forth a little. I do it in my 680 every day.

Maaann, she's one sharp ride and not a bad walk-around either. Two things, A- never heard of "sleeper extenders" before, we call them "fairings" in the states & B- she needs the chrome panels/plates/dress up thingys under the headlights to "look proper" and to save the hell out of the paint behind them. Ohh yea, this is the first and only video I've seen of your's but I thought the Showroom Tour was very sharp and professional but maybe mix it up from time to time with the yard/parking lot man. But again, good job and one slick ass ride jack!!! Dumb question but curious, is there anyway to special order a W9 with the B style hood these days??? Used to drive one with a 3406E turned up a bit and damn what a truck she was... That stocky "little" hood could hide 3 civic's lol! :-)

Didn't have the guts to give the MSRP on it? Very nice tho. Last new KW I was in was 1995 435 cat electronic- studio sleeper about the same color. I'm still impressed with that truck. Kenworth makes a nice truck for sure

Im currently in my third t680 and you can lock the doors with the door open.
If you push down on the door lock while pulling the handle it will lock. Not sure if you can do it with the lock in the handle assembly like shown on that truck

It's missing some things for me. I prefer disc brakes over drum brakes. And it's sad to say but in the application that I use it for the short hood works better than the long one. And since I have a messed up knee, I would probably spec a Eaton ultrashift, or maybe an Allison TC10 if it's available. I really love the color on it. It's a nice looking truck.

Another well done video Andy. I find it hard to believe that with all that room & storage in the sleeper there is no dedicated space & tie down for a microwave . My way of thinking goes like this. The reason for the 990 is because Kenworth saw the need to replace this antique cab style . I had the chance to get up close & personal with a very well spec'ed 990 last weekend @ Pac Car's tech center open house. It will make a very worthy replacement for the W900 & be the best looking truck on the highway in the process .

Both are sweet.
A minor issue like microwave placement isn't a reason to discontinue a very iconic and profitable model. Kenworth can certainly make whatever changes are necessary at little cost.
The T600/660 and T700 series were in need of updating and consolidation, and the 680 definitely fills those needs. The 880 is a fair partner to the bulletproof T800, but the T800 and W900B/L are models that satisfy their markets so well, Kenworth could easily decide to end the 880/990 trial periods, if you will, and continue on with the T800 and W900's, perhaps with a sensible, modest reengineering program.
I would love if that were true but the writing is on the wall. The 2.1 meter cabs are here to stay and the 1.9 are on the way out eventually.
That is spec'd out how I'd want one but longer wheelbase to accommodate matching kenworth sidebox and APU. Also would opts out of the 8 airbad suspension, as I am not a fan of the ride quality.

older kenworths and western stars its easy to lock the keys in, if you elbow the lock down then shut the door it will stay locked it wont pop unlock like a car

I know it sounds redundant but i guess a glider kit would be in store in order to ascertain cat power in a new kw, not a big fan of problematic anemic horsepower, thank you very informative.
