  • Okay, the thing that I liked so much last winter turned out to be not quite what I had hoped in late summer. But this being southern Alberta, there was plenty more to see on the way!

Shade…and flies. That’s why the horses were in the trees. Beautiful video, and very peaceful to watch.
I saw you with Chris and Jordan recently, which got me curious about your work. Glad I looked!

Yes summer is good…all seasons are. I’m over the heat as I’m not a heat fan. But, in its way it’s good too as you showed us Mike. That moss and algae and tannin filled waters are all beautiful in your lens. New R5 ii yet?

I’m curious what the yellow flowers are in the background of the mallards? A type of helianthis perhaps? Seems the horses were sheltering from the bugs… pasture so nice their bellies would fill quickly.

You have a gift for telling stories. Thank you. It was very nice, and i am humbled. As for your question, horses and other wildlife, even livestock need wind breaks shade for their hides and shelter from rain or winds. Helps to scratch and ich or to be lazy a sense of protection also some plant help keep Flys and other little anoiences away. When walking through or swinging their tails, taking naps or recovering after a threat or just gathering in a place of comfort and earth bathing themselves. Being held in confined fenced off lands should always have tree shelters or building wind breaks shelter from snow wind rain and heat.. it is the proper way of keeping livestock healthy and it unethical to any different. How would you be able to find comfort in a building under florescent lights, concrete floor or mud, and poop body waiste causing bacteria and infection stress and ads to infestation of pest. To stand in all day long or be corralled in narrow places is disgusting and animal abuse. How we take care of our livestock is just as important and should not be overlooked. We would not be using more man made pharma vacs or growth hormones to compensate malpractice. If we were more ethical with livestock and in turn, we would live healthier and not get poison these harmful practices.
We are all just as ill as animals who are trapped.
We really need to change this narrative and motivate ourselves to stop misused practices that affect us all.
Not healthy for our environments, and those we benefit from are relying on us all for them to be living healthier. Great reminder the next time you become ill was it really from not washing hands often perhpas but questions these ppl in charge of implementing unethical laws for the bottom of the dirtiest dollars. They loosen laws to tighten our budget tax us and then make us dependent on pharma to save the day... one big wheel that is nothing but greed and wealth at its finest

Oh ya, I think I heard a big bird, not a crow, but maybe a raven?

And not to mention these farmers have feilds for them to be in but most are empty because all in product lines day in and out inside these buildings.
If lucky once a year, they get to play, but most have never had the sun warm them or grass to jump and play on or eaten food from the earth with fresh grass and roots even sand or mineral dirt or have never slept under the stars and clouds.
Yet ppls are homeless and not enough land to call home. Over cropping over stocking over waist over taxed over whelming, and I am so over it all. I am sick and overwhelmed of it all.
