good stuff evan! I have built bankrolls several times just being very methodical and not being greedy. I find greed to be a major downfall/weakness of a lot of players.
Greed is what always takes down my bankroll. I'm starting my rebuild next week, and this last broke finally taught me to follow my own rules especially when I'm winning big.
as long as you have studied up on MTTs i think it's a perfectly good idea. Remember, just because you have done well in cash games though doesn't mean you will do well in tournaments (they have different dynamics so it's important to understand the differences). That being said, you'll still have an advantage on the majority of players. Practice, study, practice, study, eventually you'll understand MTTs just as well as you do cash games!
Yo potplucker, you still in the game? I've started making videos for pokercoaching premium, check out pokercoaching.org if you'd like to get a 3 day free pass!!!

Hi all. I think this video has some very key points. I'm working on making a bankroll, but I play live cash games (usually small stakes like 1,2). I really like where he mentions studying. My best way to study is to talk to the people that I beat out of pots or that beat me. It gives insight to the hand from another view and you can pick up some info on your opponents. Just be careful what you share. lol
I buy-in to the main event myself and make swaps with my friends, it's a good way to lower the variance in the tournament, and it's really fun to have a sweat of your buddies tournament :)

If you're capable of making 25 BI's why would you be less likely to reach 50? It takes longer, and obviously variance will play a large part in the overall time taken, but it should have little impact on the final outcome. 25 is fine generally but I use 30 to give me a little padding if things go sour. I also think losing 5 and stepping down is too finite a margin given variance. You can easily get it in good and lose 5 buyins over the course of one long session. 10 gives a truer indication IMO.
Im glad i stumbled on to your videos your a funny guy with some solid advice on how to improve at poker. i have been playing for around 4 years and love playing, but i never hold on to my bankroll.Things start well but I always try to reach the upper limits to quickly and i am forced to re invest, look for promotions and play freerolls. i have subscribed to your channel and look foward to watching other videos on how to improve my game and keep some of that hard earnt moolah.

Hey I just started playing online. Very new but not completely new to poker. Started reading and doing free plays before I worked up to make a deposit, I am on sportsbook. I only did $40 to test where I am at. Went on a variance ride down to $12 but worked back up to $29. My first goal is to get a good bankroll have my room money pay for PT4. Is there a tip to be a little more consistent or is it just due to my low buy in.

I like what you say about poker tracking software in this video and I like what you say about keeping track of one's results in order to be accountable about one's play. It's just a shame you didn't make the link, because poker tracking software automates that last bit. Which is the main reason I invested in it, because I was sick and tired of keeping track of results by hand. The profiling of opponents and spotting the inept at your table sooner then one might do by observing is just a bonus.
25 buyins offers you to jump up in stakes asap. if you want to progress your bankroll and not grind for the rest of your life at 1 level trying to reach 50 buyins which in effect would take ages and moving up in stakes earning better money is what you want. your case is dependable, some donks would consider AA vs 76 on a certain board texture where 76 is winning varience lol. its all dependent on how you play what style and how many table you play but i feel 25 allows you to progress quick
Just thought i would continue the trend of when i viewed the video. I thought it was a good video and as you correctly say do not be afraid to take a shot i see people never take a shot , take some money out and just never give them selves the chance to move up. As alot of people say do not take a shot unless you have 100 buyins for instance , if you only feel comfortable having so many buyins then fair enough but you can always try a small sample size of 9 or 10 at the next level, try it !

Hello :-) I just got back to grinding poker, used to do it daily like 3-4 years ago, and back then I had PT3.. but now I see they've upgraded to PT4 and that I have to buy that product, my question is: Is it really needed in the micro/low levels? I was thinking about spending $50 on your MTT guide instead, please let me know what you think :-) Regards

As a sit & go player who has never played at the tables before. Should that person start at the 1/2 cash games to build hes bankroll ? Thanks,So interested..
+PowaH You definitely want to sit at the smallest limits that will stimulate you. Depending on your income, you may want to play bigger than the lowest stakes. Whatever SNGs you play, find cash tables where the max buyin is 100-200% the amount of your regular sit n go buyin and you should feel good Make sure you play a limit that keeps you interested (not bored), but not so high that you feel anxious (fearful), that's when you'll find the sweet spot. Then put in that practice and move your way towards perfect.
sounds like a great place to many money :) I've watched a couple of friends play on there and the games looked really really good! you can still develop reads on your opponent during the session. My question is, can you take notes on them that will stay during the session, do they disappear after the session, is note taking even a function that bovada offers?
You can take notes on players, but yeah they disappear after the session. Every game I've played in up to 50nl seems pretty soft. They seem to be geared towards the recreational player.
dude your name is hilarious :P btw, I've started making videos for pokercoaching premium, check out pokercoaching.org if you'd like to get a 3 day free pass!!!
AP plays with an edge so will almost win in the end. But we don't know when. Especially with bundling effect (wins/losses bundle together). If we play with 4% edge we still lose 480 every 1000 hands played. Imagine 200 of them bundle together. Some win first then lose, or vice versa. Some never win cos we don't live long enough for the extreme cycle to come around.

In 1994, the US Native Gaming Agreement led to the establishment of casinos all over the world. I initially planned to promote my club, but ended up losing a lot of money. When I sought advice from the people who opened the casino, I was told that the only way to make money in gambling is to play with an advantage ie., learn to count cards and be disciplined. I eventually became a gaming analyst, receiving recognition from experts in the field. However, the gambling industry is often frowned upon and those who engage in it are seen as cheats. Famous gamblers: Stu Unger (OD), Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer (thieves), Phil Hellmuth (mouthpiece), Daniel Negreanu (retired Pool Hall hustler), Garrett Adelstein (bully, accused without proof), Xuan Liu (charmingly showed cleavage for an edge); who have all achieved success but have also faced controversy. I learned the game 20 years ago but chose not to switch to poker, which may have saved a bankroll from Full Tilt. The author still supports those in the industry, but refuses to be involved in anything that is "EXPLOITATIVE" or AI aided "GTO". We need more people like you with their hearts in the right place.

I am a great fan of ur videos and really want to take my game to the next level..atm to be honest I go deep in tourneys on stars but barely make money.my question would be wat do u think about playing poker on a mobile device coz I only play on my tablet n my bankroll is currently donut :(
Beat the games at the low limits and keep moving up in stakes. If you start losing drop back down and don’t move up until consistently beating the game. I’ve been at it since 1977 and have made lots of money at poker without any fanfare. I have always been in it for the money and the less attention one draws to himself the better. Quietly take their money and never criticize a sucker, sympathize with them you don’t want them to quit. I don’t play tournaments because I like to pick my games, seat, etc. Have a plan and know when to go to the cage. No drinking as this is a job not a party. If you sit down at the table and don’t see a sucker it’s you. Online games are not a safe place to play poker for a variety of reasons. Cheating and getting paid are enough to keep me away and I crushed them years ago until the NetTeller scandal.
You got it down Jimmy. Keep it up and thanks for sharing! btw, I've started making videos for pokercoaching premium, check out pokercoaching.org if you'd like to get a 3 day free pass!!!
also whats the definition of *taking shots* in ur opinions is?what i said before about putting ur 30% of a bankroll at cashgames where there is a maniac spewing away money?
id donate to ya bro MTT thing helped me out alot your videos. , shove charts and small poket pair relative to BB helped me from other sorces like poketfives. question you playing in poketfives open $11 buyin ?

Hi Evan ! :) I want to build my bankroll on 888Poker by playing Microstakes MTT's of 1 dollar with a bankroll of 150 dollars.. But before i start the grind, i wanted to study your MTT strategy guide of a few years ago (which is fkn fantastic btw) but i cannot find it anywhere... My question is if your MTT strategy guide is still available for me to study ? Thanks anyway for the energy and time you put in the Gripsed poker training !! :D We love you !

Im guessing you will be sitting down with max amount ($10) a rough estimate is 5% of your bankroll so you will need more than $200. But thats going off average
Youre the shit Evan. You've helped me a ton. My ability rating has steadily climbed until a recent run of bad luck. My hand history is scary. Im playing smaller buy ins to get passed the bad luck streak so we'll see how it goes. Been watching since the beginning! im2high710 on the merge network

Bankroll - estimate your rate of winning. If you are a losing player, no bankroll required, cos you will lose it. Set aside a losing fund to learn how to win, like a tuition. 8f you are a winning player, play the same % bankroll as your % edge. If you are a 100% winner, you can play 100% of your money, cos you know you will win. If you are a 1% winner, you play 1% of your bankroll. If you have lost 10%, you calculate your new 100% with remaining 90% money. You will be 99% safe. To be a professional, play 0.4 Kelly. You will never go bankrupt.

Hello :-) I just got back to grinding poker, used to do it daily like 3-4 years ago, and back then I had PT3.. but now I see they've upgraded to PT4 and that I have to buy that product, my question is: Is it really needed in the micro/low levels? I was thinking about spending $50 on your MTT guide instead, please let me know what you think :-)
Regards

What are your thoughts on Bovada where players are anonymous?
No tracking software, fast cashouts, fishy players...
how much money would i need to have to play 05c/10c bankroll sorry if it seems like a dumb question i'm new to poker.
$200-400 is a fine start. Btw, I've started making videos for pokercoaching premium, check out pokercoaching.org if you'd like to get a 3 day free pass!!!
hey gripsed, i play cash games for a while, played almost 600k hands, moed from NL2(3 deposits of $10 dollars) to NL50, i'm thinking about playing MTTs on sundays and saturdays, do you think that it's a good idea?
do i already have the experience on cash so i can play other games?
Just keep playing and studying, if yo repeat that over and over it will all work out.

You probably get asked this question a bunch but what site do you recommend for US players to build their bankroll?
America's Cardroom for Playing and pokercoaching for studying

grinded up some free bucks on merge. is a 20 buy-in roll large enough for sng's (stt)? a book i read said at least 20, but that even seems too small.
haha @ 0:15
"hi evan
my name is edvan
and ive been playing poker online since two-thousand eleven"
does this rhyme count as three of a kind?
"I am from Sweden". He hit quads mate.
Hoyyyy gawensss hahahahaha ga poker diay ka? Hahahahaha
i believe your money is safest with America's Cardroom between those sites. I also feel like they have better software.
Whatever SNGs you play, find cash tables where the max buyin is 100-200% the amount of your regular sit n go buyin and you should feel good
Make sure you play a limit that keeps you interested (not bored), but not so high that you feel anxious (fearful), that's when you'll find the sweet spot.
Then put in that practice and move your way towards perfect.
Thank you buddy, Great". You are appreciated".
ok thxs.
sounds like a great place to many money :)
I've watched a couple of friends play on there and the games looked really really good!
you can still develop reads on your opponent during the session.
Sounds like you know your stuff Don! Btw, I've started making videos for pokercoaching premium, check out pokercoaching.org if you'd like to get a 3 day free pass!!!

Hi Evan ! :) I want to build my bankroll on 888Poker by playing Microstakes MTT's of 1 dollar with a bankroll of 150 dollars..

My question is if your MTT strategy guide is still available for me to study ? Thanks anyway for the energy and time you put in the Gripsed poker training !! :D We love you !

I play 2/5nl. Is $500 good for each session/day???? Or it need to be more?
that's pretty good. saying that you make 500 a day . that's 3500 a week and 10500-14000 a month..thats more than good
GODOFCOD1225
you should aim to make 1 buy-in per 100 hands on average over a month/year and not base your information on 1 days play
You can take notes but as soon as you leave the table, or they leave the table, the notes are erased.
Im guessing you will be sitting down with max amount ($10) a rough estimate is 5% of your bankroll so you will need more than $200. But thats going off average

+Ismael Blind-ox you're welcome bro, glad you got value from it!!!
Let’s Goooooo!!!!
