    Grandissimo compositore e magnifico interprete. Frescobaldi meraviglios espressione del tardo Rinascimento e giovane virgulto del Barocco , anticipatore e dominante e pioniere di tutta la piu' importante musica del 700 , e Pater di Rameau e seguaci .

    A long lost jewel. There are so many great Renaissance and Early Baroque genius composers that I am learning about, and I have a degree in Music from UNT.

    I am fascinated: one gets the impression that this toccata is just improvised under our eyes!

    A beautiful example of maturity and interpretative strategy. He makes it clear that he has understood the hidden depths and makes them understand even those who listen to him. The harpsichord and tuning are excellent

    • @liamsandal6360
      @liamsandal6360 7 месяцев назад

      Why does he make it clear? Because his eyes are closed, and he sways in an affected manner?

    • @insulajupiter
      @insulajupiter 7 месяцев назад

      @@liamsandal6360 Many performers play with their eyes closed to have maximum concentration on making the musical text clear and intelligible. In Frescobaldi it is not easy to make the complexity of his writing understandable. Try listening to other performances and compare them..
      The swaying is a marginal fact that does not detract from the validity of this execution. Every performer has their own instinctive approach to the keyboard: it is personal and I understand that it can be criticized, but it is irrelevant. A performance must be evaluated for the interpretative result, the rest doesn't interest me.

    • @liamsandal6360

      It's an affectation, just as Horowitz once said in an interview.@@insulajupiter

    @christophebursens2627 you added this to a playlist for Harpsichords after Guarracino, but this is a copy of a Celestini, not to be confused with the other harpsichord that Marco plays, also by Livi.

    Maestro Mencoboni, muchas gracias por darnos este oasis de belleza. Quisiera preguntarle ¿La afinación de este clave es diferente al temperamento igual? ¿Qué afinación es esta? Saludos desde México. Sigo con deleite sus interpretaciones. Ah y ya cociné el Spaghetti Frescobaldi. Muy bueno. Saludos.

    Was i just me, or have other been confused into thinking mr. Mencoboni is blind; because of his habit of playing with eyes closed?

    • @cromorno8749
      @cromorno8749 3 года назад

      I don't think he's blind, but he close his eyes in order to be able to go deeper in the interpretation of the piece

    If i was a home player only would this be a better option for me than say a flemish double? For example less string and parts to falter and maintain? I love the doubles but dont see any use in the registers it its minor changes in a smaller room. Theres no one to learn from where i live so itd be a huge poor investment and loss of space but its something ive wanted and thats never gone away.

      I completely get here, where I'm from there are no builders and only 1 harpsichord and 1 harpsichordist in my city. And it isn't a historical instrument but a revival.
