- Yes! It is possible to use that multi-line VOIP phone to control your smart home with Home Assistant, Piper, and Whisper. It's actually simpler than even I thought.

This works just as well with a software based SIP phone. MicroSip is a good option.

Great videos (all of them)... I was able to get it run...quite long response , I'm using Obihai 1062 sip phone, I'm NOT using cloud Assistant...

Hi, i see u already figured iut pabx and ither stuff. I am looking for video on getting info on video intercom voice on tablets in my home running HA. I am using dahua vto 2201 and using hacs integration, i am able to get bell push button etc and off course rtsp feed as well. The only thing missing is getting voice on table to enable two way talk with the person on vidoe intercon side. Can u make a video on this? I see jsip card also available for HA but somehow no info available how to make all this work together. Many people are looking for this voice feature and i belive its available now and just need some tutorial
I used a Grandsteam with a basic phone.
I have stuff to do that as well. Figured I'd try the phone already sitting on my desk.

Imo the STT delay is way too long and inaccurate to run locally. You really need a powerful GPU to run whisper lightning fast with a proper accurate model.
With the HA cloud as the assist pipeline, it's as fast or faster than telling my smart speakers to activate something. If I use the HA Blue, it's not useable.
i tried to do this with a Yealink device.... home assistant is not recognizing my phone. any ideas?
What is the setting that acts like a "hotline" for yealink? You have to force it to dial to HA's IP.

For me it doesn't work with my Yealink T54W, because I can't open a line without a password and there is not menu entry for "hotline". Very sad!
