Jeez that was some festival. I worked for Jim and Paddy that year and they were the soundest couple of guys you could ever meet. It was said that the festival generated £7 million punts in business in the area over the weekend. Some going back then. Top of the bill wasn't Jackson Brown. It was Chris DeBurgh that year. And the stage they used was the Pink Floyd touring stage. Will we ever see the likes of those days again?
I was 22 in 82 and trying to find happiness in all the wrong places when l met the happy Hare Krsnas there in their Lisdoonvarna camp. They fed all comers with hot porridge and hot curry's non stop without bias. They sang and danced and smiled all weekend long and on seeing this l became convinced they were the only sane ones there and the real spiritual deal so l then and there started to chant their ancient chant of deliverance from birth and death, the maha mantra (maha/great man/mind tra/freeing) of Hare Krsna Hare Rama (Gods names meaning Reservoir of Pleasure) and got higher than I'd ever been and l havent come down since. All glories to the Krsnas and all glories to the Lisdoon organisers. Visit the Krsnas at Govindas vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Middle Abbey St Dublin (beside Easons side door) for best ever vegetarian/vegan food
I was also there and I was also 22 and I was also fed by the Hare Krsnas. I only found the program booklet again yesterday. We camped in Doolin at McGann's pub behind the house. We hitchhiked from Stuttgart to Lisdoonvarna. That was a great time.
