The darker shift in tonality has really surprised me along with a lot of other parts of this game. The whole design philosophy is different, and I haven’t seen anyone complaining. Kudos to Nintendo on everything so far

Does anyone else notice how in every newcomer direct that at least one person has to PHYSICALLY DIE? In Ridley's, Megaman got impaled and Mario got his neck basically twisted. This shit got me hard. This was honestly the perfect way to introduce both of the Belmonts. I love how Simon even walks like he does in the original games. Cant wait to try both of them. Hopefully I can main Richter!

Well, looking at the designs of the characters, it seems they're drawing mostly from the original NES Castlevania which was almost the most E-rated game in the Castlevania series. Heck, that game stems from the days when video games were still considered toys and "adult video games" was almost considered a contradiction in terms.
It's also his classic look from the NES box art of Castlevania. Also glad they went with Simon's classic design and not the redhead "pretty boy" Simon incarnation cause Richter is already the definitive "hot pretty boy" Belmont anyway and Simon represents the more "muscular strongman" side of the Belmont clan.
I love how the mummy just stops in its tracks after Luigi shoots a plunger at him. Like he's reevaluating all his life's decisions at that exact moment. "I'm undead with a plunger on my face shot by an Italian plumber, I've officially hit rock bottom."
Hey, be happy he made it in some form! They could have just added Simon, the Castlevania stage, and a few soundtracks to go along with it. But they're going all out on this one, and it's great.

Richter makes some sense considering he appeared in Castlevania Dracula X on the SNES, which was a port of Rondo of Blood (though very different from Rondo of Blood in level design and some other aspects.) And we already have some non-Nintendo Smash fighters, so it really doesn't matter at this point. Cloud, Snake, Ryu, and now Simon Belmont (who honestly should've been in a long time ago, he's too damn iconic!).
It wouldn't have fitted with the reveal, but it would have been sorta funny in a ironic to see Simon Vacuum up Luigi's spirit and carry off his corpse.
I love that they chose Richters design from RoB, not that I dislike his DxC design, but his RoB design is my personal favorite. I love even more that they stayed faithful to his theme and didn't butcher it up in some way shape or form remixing or arranging it. 👍
Castlevania totally deserves a place. Among Metroid, both are classics and extremely influential, and as a fan of Metroidvania it's nice to see Ridley and Shovel Knight (even as an Assist Trophy). About the constant topic of new characters every on comment session, I guess I'm the part that does not really cares about Waluigi. Neku Sakuraba and Decidueye would do better fighters and cooler movesets, but unfortunately the odds of these two joining are really low.

Oh God, yeah! I loved how Simon did not said a single word in the trailer, his reveal was just perfect. Vempire Hunter starts playing and he's throwing cross with loud "HAH!". Most fanservicy and badass moment I ever saw, or at least one of the top 10. And then when Simon is about to get rekt Richter comes in with classic line! So PERFECT.

Let's all remember that Simon Belmont was in the first Castlevania game. And while half the roster theme is a little anime, that's only asking for non-anime characters to be added. Also, Smash having Japanese workers doesn't mean that each character HAS to look like conventional anime. And contrary to the people who've never played any Castlevania game prior to SotN, Simon is one of the most memorable characters of that franchise (I even wanted Nintendo to add _that_ specific Belmont for being the first guy to come to mind when thinking about those games (mainly for Super CV IV being my favorite)).
Ik everyone loves the castlevania art style that started with symphony of the night. And I love it too I’m so happy that they gave Simon his Conan the barbarian look back

In Japanese it's the same quote as it was in the original Japanese SotN, presumably they just couldn't use the word "die" in the English version

Well, looking at the designs of the characters, it seems they're drawing mostly from the original NES Castlevania which was almost the most E-rated game in the Castlevania series. Heck, that game stems from the days when video games were still considered toys and "adult video games" was almost considered a contradiction in terms.

Richter makes some sense considering he appeared in Castlevania Dracula X on the SNES, which was a port of Rondo of Blood (though very different from Rondo of Blood in level design and some other aspects.) And we already have some non-Nintendo Smash fighters, so it really doesn't matter at this point. Cloud, Snake, Ryu, and now Simon Belmont (who honestly should've been in a long time ago, he's too damn iconic!).
Also Pyramid Head in Smash is a great idea ;)

Dracula as a boss fight in Smash? Didn't realise how much i wanted this till now.
Castlevania totally deserves a place. Among Metroid, both are classics and extremely influential, and as a fan of Metroidvania it's nice to see Ridley and Shovel Knight (even as an Assist Trophy).
About the constant topic of new characters every on comment session, I guess I'm the part that does not really cares about Waluigi. Neku Sakuraba and Decidueye would do better fighters and cooler movesets, but unfortunately the odds of these two joining are really low.
Yes honestly having alot of franchises to choose characters: likes Dragon Quest, Double Dragon, Tekken, Golden Sun, Monster Hunter, Virtua Fighter, Dark Stalkers, Resident Evil, Pandoras Tower, and more....

Oh God, yeah! I loved how Simon did not said a single word in the trailer, his reveal was just perfect. Vempire Hunter starts playing and he's throwing cross with loud "HAH!". Most fanservicy and badass moment I ever saw, or at least one of the top 10. And then when Simon is about to get rekt Richter comes in with classic line! So PERFECT.
Nice looks like my type of character. Safe single long range attacks, put on damage overtime then finish them off similar to shulk playstyle.

Let's all remember that Simon Belmont was in the first Castlevania game. And while half the roster theme is a little anime, that's only asking for non-anime characters to be added.
Also, Smash having Japanese workers doesn't mean that each character HAS to look like conventional anime. And contrary to the people who've never played any Castlevania game prior to SotN, Simon is one of the most memorable characters of that franchise (I even wanted Nintendo to add _that_ specific Belmont for being the first guy to come to mind when thinking about those games (mainly for Super CV IV being my favorite)).
I know Luigi's new vacuum has to amount to SOMETHING. And that SOMETHING's exactly what we wanted.
