    When Nicholas said the guys I’m fighting for are taking my house and my car that hit me so hard. Also when he said he left and came back no one cared and time went on. Thank you soldiers reading this for your sacrifices.

      Taylor,
      I’ve never served the military. However, my cousin told me the same thing when he lost his house, boats jet skis, ex wife of whom cheated on him that he met in the military. I had to prevent him from jumping off a 5-6 story balcony at a lake house for my cousins bachelor party. He was an marine veteran who had deployed to Afghanistan. That was my realization how much we need to support our vets. All the best

    56:07 When your talking about seeing yourself in the mirror but never talking to that guy. You see him but never contront him, thats your soul watching your body/mind and when you DO sit down with that guy your putting mind with spirit. Thats my thoughts. So deep and well thought out Nick.

    This was an amazing episode. What's crazy is that I was slated to go down the same path when I joined the Army. I was in impeccable shape and I was a marksman, but what kept me from doing it was that you don't get paid shit to do these extra things. It's all about bragging rights and ego, or if you are just someone who is gung-ho and want to be that way. But if you look at it like a job, it's a shitty job for shitty pay, and we make it look so glorious in movies and this conversation is the dose of truth many people need to hear...

    Having looked through the glass and sent rounds down range I understand fully what Nick is trying to convey in this conversation. I learned at an early age to compartmentalize almost everything that I experienced. I’m now in my late 50’s and have had many years to take each and every situation out and analyze it. I’m a father and grandfather and have lived a fairly peaceful life overall post Military but I’ve never regretted a single shot I sent downrange. In my view each and everyone had done or was attempting to do bad things to my Brothers and I was gonna do everything in my power to stop him/them. Almost all of my service was pre 9/11 so I served in a different world than today’s WarFighter however the dynamics never change. Drive On Nick.

    • @jakeb1140
      @jakeb1140 6 лет назад

      maximillan gardner-guillermo you actually don’t volunteer. Sniper section in the 75th is very competitive. You are selected to try out from your platoon if you’re squared away. You usually have to know someone already in Sniper Section that thinks you’re good enough to even get a shot at Selection

      I agree with you, this was an awesome podcast episode and I loved it. I like Nic Irving. he seems like a good, mature and well-informed guy(and he's obviously a smart guy-because those are the kinds of people you want pulling the triggers-a thinking person) and I wish him all the success in life. Arian Foster is right, more kids in the black community need to see that there are more opportunities and options for them out there other than being entertainers or athletes-and the black and latino kids who end up going down the wrong paths in life-who end up in gangs or selling dope, etc, they need to know that there are other options out there for them, too(I have said before that I think that the military is a viable option for at-risk kids and young people going down the wrong path in life-and not just black and latino kids but kids of any race and background who are going down the wrong path in life and who lack direction).
      Nic Irving should be a guest on Joe Rogan's podcast as well as the podcast for Jocko Willink(a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and war veteran like Irving)
