Born and raised in London to Irish parents and recorded this in Memphis because she was a literal British Dame (bestowed by Queen Elizabeth, Order of the British Empire, Dame Dusty) who had soul. She was part of the so called blue eyed soul singers of the 1960s.
This is one of the great British female singers from the 60's. She had such a beautiful unique voice & covered many genres (blue-eyed soul, pop ,ballads, country, jazz). Her biggest hit was "Son Of A Preacher Man" in 1969. She had a lot of hits such as "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "I Only Want To Be With You", "I'll Try Anything", "Wishin' & Hopin' ", "The Look Of Love", "The Windmills Of Your Mind", "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" & many more.
My son used to think the lyrics were "son of a creature" man! Definitely gave it a different meaning 😂❤🦋
That little dance was called the hitchhiker with a little skate thrown in
The sock it to me generation ❤
Ty 4 showing respect to this song. It’s LEGENDARY & means a lot to a lot of people🫶🏻
Listen to “The Look of Love”. Very sultry. Dusty was awesome. ❤️
I grew up listening to Dusty Springfield. A great singer. She was called white queen of soul.
The great Aretha Franklin loved this song (& did her own version) & loved Dusty's voice.
When this became a hit, Aretha & Dusty ran into each other on an elevator. Aretha laid her hand on Dusty's shoulder & just said "Girl...." in that knowing, admiring way.
I love both of those great ladies.

So sexy and completely covered! What a great singer she was! One of my favorite songs of the era.
Sexy is a feeling from within not how much skin you can show or clothes so tight you can see their organs.
Dusty does sexy with clothes on as does Kylie minogue.
You kids don't know all the great music we grew up with. Glad you can appreciate this music as well!
She also sang on a Pet Shop Boys tune called, What Have I Done To Deserve This. Great tune. Check it out!
Her album Dusty in Memphis is so very good. You hear that Memphis sound in this song,
Love Dusty! This is her biggest hit and it rocks!
Great reaction!
Great song!
Dusty Springfield was born in London on April 6, 1939 and died on March 2, 1999 in Henley-on-Thames, England. IMO, her best song was You Don't Have To Say You Love Me. Then there is The Look Of Love, A Brand New Me, I Just Don't Know What to Do and o manymore.
Yeah, I LOVE "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me"!!!!
Great song from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack - a good watch if you haven’t seen it yet
Sorry, I hated that movie, but to each his own 🤥🤠
@@juliajohnston7145yep. Same. One watch and that was it for me.
Great reaction to a great song!
Her The Look of Love is incredibly romantic.
I never realized Cypress Hill sampled this in their “Hits From The Bong” check em’ out
The look of love😊
Damn good song.
Joss Stone did a great cover of this, too.
Yes! it's an awesome live performance if that's the one you mean.
@@JL-is9rg Yep😁
LOVE Joss Stone!!
Love this woman.
Just FYI, Elvis like Dusty, too, and covered at least one of her songs (You Don't Have to Say You Love Me). The wig and eyelashes may be dated now but the voice is timeless.
Cypress hill also sampled this track for " huts from the bong".
Anyone who had a heart and I only wanna be with you my two favorites, she ended up having a very difficult life and had a musical redemption at the end singing with the pet shop boys what have I done to deserve this , great song also
The Austin Powers comment had me dying 😂😂😂
Not so much. He had nothing worthwhile to say. Nothing about her voice or style, just a bit of fooling around and making fun of her 'moves'. Crap reaction.
LOL I loved her so much when I was a girl
Ed Sullivan was a SAINT
I Only Want To Be With You is my favorite DS song ☺
My favorite old school songs. So much soul for a white girl. Check out a band called Smith. The song Baby, it's you. Another soulful white girl. Love both of these songs.
❤
A great song I only want to be with you. Also wishing abd hoping. All her songs are good
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😎
If you like this, take a listen to Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots..."
LOVE that song!!!
Great reaction! My fav of hers is "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me," especially done live: ruclips.net/video/QR4vE9xL3yk/видео.html
Why do black male commentators always make a bit of a joke about Dusty and patronise her? She was one of the true greats. When it's Aretha or Gladys it's like we're on hallowed ground and it's serious respect.
Thank you.
Well now we know you haven't seen Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" (1994) I hope you will add it to your movie reaction channel, though I suppose you could react to the other musical tracks you haven't heard from the soundtrack first.
Yeah, he should react to the songs, first, IMO!!!
