I've owned the Superduke's V1, V2 and currently the V3. As you can imagine, I was eager to discover the new 1390! My local KTM shop was kind enough to let me test the bike and I loved the feeling immediately. The 1390 feels more precise, more natural as if the bike wheighed less. Quite amazing! Now for the drawback: the clutch lever needs a very strong pull ( I would say twice that of the 1290) making it very tiring in traffic. It's good to test these kind of bikes on a track but what about customers who drive the bike on the road?
For goodness sake could you PLEASE move the switch gear on either side inboard about 5 - 8mm? Hitting the high/lo beam, +/- switches, and C1/C2 switch constantly when not intending to is highly annoying - and potentially even a bit dangerous when the slip control gets changed (with the +/- switches) without the rider noticing. Having an electronic key is a huge pain in the ass too. Keys should reside in the ignition switch, especially when leathered up. Those gripes aside, the bike is pretty awesome. I just got mine broke in and serviced today, and got to feed her the onions. The motor is pretty incredible, and the ergonomics (other than the switch gear) is about perfect for this type of bike. Quite comfortable too. Everyone waves, thumbs up, etc. Much more so than any bike I have owned in 40 years.
I've been riding motorcycles for 35 years and owned over 150 bikes I bought a 2015 SDR new and I still love it more than life, I can't even imagine how good the 1390 is, I will buy this bike asap!
What a fantastic film, and bike! I got to check out The Beast at MCN London show last weekend, and it really grabs your attention and that’s when it’s not even moving! Great work KTM! 🙌🔥
For me, it was the SDR 990, I noticed it somewhere and it sounded nice. Not as nice as a Buell, though. And then, I happened in 2014 to visit a KTM shop and there was a new SDR 1290. Didn't know anything about the bike but sat on it and it felt just perfect. Instant buy...😍
Thank you very for this video, congratulations for all the team you made a very good job as usual. I am waiting for my new 1390 after V1 / V2 / V3. Already 10 years of riding this wonderful bike. I love it 🧡👍
My hard earned money goes down on it in September I can't wait.. I want to stop watching the videos of this bike so I truly can not wait ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤....
Just so you know, I plan on buying one, and the reason for it rather than saving a bunch of money on a '23 is all about the new electronics, primarily the adjustable wheelie control. I also want to be able to use TC without MSR. I hated having the throttle plate open on deceleration on my old 1290 SDR.... SO annoying.
Have you cun7s fixed all the issues of the past dukes yet? Gearbox blowing up Switch gear getting wet and not working Wheels not machined correctly so it runs on the rotor Radiators cracking after a long wheelie?
After watching your video and scrolling through the comments, I am under the impression that your marketing team is as good as it has ever been, maybe even better. The narrative, creating the feeling that viewers are behind the scenes, the music and video selections, the script writing, everything works well together. Even the journalists you invited to use your product all toe the line well. Some of them even say one or two contrary comments to make their viewers/readers think they are not regurgitating what your marketing team says word for word. Without knowing your data I cannot say anything with accuracy but I would like to propose that electronic aids such as wheelie control, dilute your brand somewhat. For example, this is not a bike for beginners. It should be intimidating. Perhaps leave wheelie control for Ducati motard riders and the 990. I am genuinely very impressed and wish you every success as I own, use and enjoy using two of your products. Please stay orange in spirit and leave beige to Honda and BMW.
Great video great bikes, but please make sure the bikes survives more than 1 year without faulty parts. I had 2 KTMs and both of them were insane motorcyles with so much fun, but unfortunately I always find myself having to replace parts and having to deal with issues on the bike even though the bike is 1 year old.
I knew I wanted the 1390 when it was first announced, but this is the little extra attention to detail and transparency that solidifies the choice over something else. Fantastic job
Spero che con le sospensioni meccaniche abbia migliorato la stabilità alle alte velocità. Unica vera pecca della mia 1290 3.0. per il resto fa' sorridere dentro il casco ad ogni uscita🧡
I think the 1290 sounded not very good, the 2014 was by its intake sound towards the rider's ears like a calf mooing... The 2021 (originally very quiet) is at certain level and low revs much better - almost reminds of corvette - but the plasticky intake sound is there when one opens the throttle... On high revs it gets a little better though. I think not acoustically very highly designed.
I love the looks and would love to get one. My issue is paying that kind of money, being my only bike, and having the electronic gremlins that other bikes in the line have had in the past. I can't be down a bike for 2 weeks + while they try to figure it out. I have 6 months at best for riding season. Absolutely love it but will have to see how reliable it is.
Maybe they didn't too but had to say something to attract someone. Looks like this bike is designed for sales of smaller ones, you have to have a kind of a role model to sell the 125:s, 200:s and 390:s... Advertising style is explained by that theory, too. But 1390 could be a good product and people will buy it anyhow. The other thing is do they watch ads or do they just try the bike and ride as they like...
Please change the shape of ktm rc in 2023, its awkward... I want you to rebuild the old 2020 model of ktm rc, lets make the world ready to race again... please its very beautiful trust me...😢😢😢
“To increase from 1290cc..” My man, gen 3 is 1301cc.. bit worrying if he doesn’t know that 😂 I’ll stick with my gen 3 Evo, I don’t need another 49cc for a lot more money
Yes, I think that video is almost full of BS, just the opposite they advertise (are they politicians?)! Are they not proud of the product as it is? Because at the same moment they talk about impressive power the video just shows a burn-out that almost any (old and new) bike can do... Designwise, it looks like a garage-built bike now. Sad. Ok, maybe I'm a lucky one to have a 2021... I think it is quite nice. Earlier, I had a 2014 and it was not a beauty queen but in a way, acceptable. Better than this new one. Yes, looks is partly copied from Yamaha, Suzuki and maybe BMW but they look miserable too. The riding position was for me better at the 2014, almost felt like a MX-bike. But the balance was too much at rear (even with bars as much front as possible) and the bike was partly because of that wobbly at high speeds... Not in a dangerous way, though (more like in a funny way, controllable, that is). The 2021 is for me too low at the bars, had to install 20mm risers. Luckily it didn't ruin the good balance of the bike (it is really unbelievably much better than the 2014). Bars still as front as possible. 2021 suspension still on the soft side or meant for streetriding with a 75kg rider, so better not take too fast on curvy roads... What the main points would the 2024 have? The variable valve timing could be, if it works and makes it smoother on lower revs. And maybe the 5th and 6th gear being a little shorter might be practical (I like the overdrive 6th anyhow). Powerwise? I don't think a 10hp more (if it has it compared to 2021...) brings a significant change because physics kind of limit the need for power at certain speeds, going over that figure (200-210 km/h, where you shift to 5th) it might be noticed (and possibly at riders personal lap times if taken on the track and compared by 1290). But remains to be seen, hope I can testride one some day in the next spring (or summer).
@iivaridark6850 yeah totally agree I have gen 3 2023. Never been on older models and won't be buying other. They saying the bike is 60% new? Where? What they counting different tyres too 😆 I don't know I did expect more to be honest. I don't belive is much different . Maybe Jeremy Williams will notice something he take the bike to limits. But for me no worth it Selling old and buying this one. People who riden new one saying They do not notice the variable valve Anyway. And extra 10hp thanks i don't need it 😆 I m one teeth down front sprocket and better steering damper All she needed.
Not sure if many realice they were working on this project in 2021 that’s 3 years ago that means they are provably working now in a 1500cc but most provably on a V4 so that should come to the market in 2027 .
love mine GEN3 i get it you have to promote new product Talking about 500g headlight weigh saving But no one talk about total weigh of this generation is heavier

Not for me 😢
Love your videos but not so much the online shop will never forget such a bad experience buying products for my superduke .
You need to raise your standards!
Imagine a new RC8 with this motor. Just imagine..👹
Let's do it !!! 🔥
Imagine a KTM 1390 SMR :^)

Gareth Davidson - your SAffa accent is hard to miss boet. Congrats on being with KTM. Eitsa! Gooi mielies jong.

Great video KTM! pls more "behind the story" videos in the future!😍
awesome video, great job
love the bts stories 🧡🏁✊🏽

150 in 35 years? Are you already premium customer anywhere?
I've been riding a 390 for 5 years. I may just bump it up by a liter one day. This thing is sick!
Why do you have to pay extra to activate all the settings??
KTM = Keep Taking Money 😉
The chief engineer made a mistake, he said "We till it from 1290 to 1350"
Isn't it 1301 cc to 1350
The video obviously is meant to people who do not place attention to details! 😅
My 890 Duke R is by far the finest machine I have ever thrown a leg over in my 51 years of street riding. What a splendid beast it is.
What a fantastic film, and bike! I got to check out The Beast at MCN London show last weekend, and it really grabs your attention and that’s when it’s not even moving! Great work KTM! 🙌🔥
will the wheels from my 2018 super duke fit on the 1390? i'd like to keep my carbon wheels?
The bike that started my love of naked bikes😎
For me, it was the SDR 990, I noticed it somewhere and it sounded nice. Not as nice as a Buell, though. And then, I happened in 2014 to visit a KTM shop and there was a new SDR 1290. Didn't know anything about the bike but sat on it and it felt just perfect. Instant buy...😍
Super Duke 1390 R. God Father of all Bikes 👊👊 it's really awesome super powerful bike 👍👍👌👌
Impresionante !! Mi próxima moto ya está decidida KTM 1390 SuperDuke EVO
To the question of what is the true sensation on a motorcycle..... this beast is the answer!! 🔥
Thank you very for this video, congratulations for all the team you made a very good job as usual. I am waiting for my new 1390 after V1 / V2 / V3. Already 10 years of riding this wonderful bike. I love it 🧡👍

Espectacular reportaje, ojalá sea mi próxima KTM!!!
We hope so too!
When I grow up, I want to try one of these beasts.
For me, the most radical machine on the face of the earth!
@KTM is there any specific reason why the super dukes aren't launched in INDIA ??!!
Cant wait to get one and replace the front mask with Gen 3 😅
Very good bike😊
Have you cun7s fixed all the issues of the past dukes yet?
Gearbox blowing up
Switch gear getting wet and not working
Wheels not machined correctly so it runs on the rotor
Radiators cracking after a long wheelie?
Nice!!!
Best bike on world ! ! !
Just keeps getting better and better. I know riding my KTM always brings a smile to my face...KTM's are Da Best!🤙

Interesting video, and McWilliams is a great rider and tester.
Why not showing the team, that came up with the idea, to pay extra for the software?
was für eine geile Karre habt ihr da wieder gebaut! 🙂HAMMER!

I'd rather go with tuono v4 or streetfighter v4s. You'll love it more.
@@Sanisani9 not for pure fun no way
where can I register as a test driver?😁

Very interesting video; it would be more complete if you could also see the steps in cad design, aerodynamic testing and production ✊
good job, what a shame you have to look for external tricks to use the akrapovic line on the street...
What do you mean?
I will be upgrading my gen 2 to this bike sometime this year.
8:50 mark. Did anyone notice the 1390 RR version !? Hopefully KTM brings that to America this time
hope, one day it will be available on India.
Welche Rundenzeiten wurden während den Tests in Almeria gefahren? Sie sollte eigentlich locker unter 1:50.00 kommen
I’m waiting for this beast
I wish my 2024 Duke 390 had the headlight derived from Duke 1390 & 990.... try to keep the headlamp uniform guys it's a request... love from India ❤
Love the New Version ❤
Online thing i don’t Like ist is the headlight and how the Front Indikator holder Looks other than that best nackend i know of
lets hope the aftermarket scene comes with good/pretty solutions.
8:36 this is all they needed to play to sell the 1390. My Ducati V4S Akrapovic sounds great, but not that great!
I think the 1290 sounded not very good, the 2014 was by its intake sound towards the rider's ears like a calf mooing... Awesome inside look!!
Reliability would be the nicest new edition to the new superduke R
menanti 1490
Development on a different level... wow😍
What. A. Beast!!! I want one
Any plans to launch 1390 in india
Love it!! After watching this last night I signed a deal today!
So you have to buy the all the features seperately? How about I buy the bike and you give me all the shit you claim it has?
Unreal, bring it already
Amazing powerplant. If only it came with Husqvarna aesthetics instead of the Transformers KTM style.
Really like the graphics on the helmet
Reliability though?
"The new beast has so much more torque in the lower rpms" I didn't realise it needed more torque owning the 2023 super duke before this one 😅

Talking about 500g headlight weigh saving
But no one talk about total weigh of this generation
is heavier
it's actually only 3 kg heavier the weight they tell you its with fluids
@olidelerro9426 no is not
Is about 10kg heavier
Looking at MCN
1290 189kg
1390 201kg
The gen 3 IS 189kg completly dry , its about 198kg with fluids and 214kg with full tank , look at the repair manual.
@olidelerro9426 Everywhere I look 1390 is 10kg heavier
KTM website
1290 = 189kg without fuel
1390 = 200,5kg without fuel
@@David-ye1pkits miss communication, they are comparing completely dry bike to a bike with the fluids.
My 2019 has now become a childs toy..
Amazing bike. Kudos to everyone who worked on the new beast.#1390. ❤❤❤❤

Is it build in china?
No, the 2024 KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R is built in Mattighofen, Austria.
Do you think the Chinese assembly line and its workers could be better or worse than Austrian?
My 2014, wife's 2015 and both our 2021's (all assembled in Mattighofen) had some bolts not tightened to advertised torque from the factory... That is a fact, no people are perfect. But that might concern any manufacturer and assembly location... So what do I know!
So I recommend being aware!
China is the new Japan. Get used to it.
