I have a mini 8ight buggy that has every single upgrade possible between all the rpm stuff, gpm stuff, hot racing spur and shock springs, velineon motor and esc, you name it i got it. I love the platform and was heart broken to hear when it wasnt supported anymore. I have tons of spare parts except diffs and that kept me paranoid and barely use the car now. But after you posted this video i learned form the people in the comments about LC racing and WL toys having an almost identical car, now i have hope to keep the mini 8ight alive. I really want the emb truggy now lol. Thank you for posting this video and thank you commenters for the knowledge. Sometimes you can google stuff till your fingers fall off but one video opens up new ideas.

@bmxking6582 Thanks for stopping by and checking the video out. We have a great community over here. Folks with various time in the hobby. I'm always impressed with the knowledge they have on the thousands of kits that have been released.

I love my Mini 8ight-T, I've had mine since 2015. I put a T-Bone bumper on mine and haven't broken as many parts as I used to. I have alot exotek parts on mine and also run the vilineon motor with Hobbywing B3 esc. There's still a pretty decent amount of parts support too.

@Kyle Wright I wish Losi would bring it back.

@Ready Set RC Yeah, that would be awesome, and it's such a great platform. I also have a MERV, and I choose my Mini 8ight-T over it

I had the choice around 2010 for my birthday to choose a brand new rc in the shop. I was very torn between the mini 8ight, the trx 1/16 grave digger, and the trx 1/16 kyle busch race truck. I ended up getting the traxxas grave digger (very rare and sought-after now) modded it through the years and got rid of it, have since gotten a traxxas 1/16 erevo brushed and slapped a castle creations sidewinder 3 1/10 kit on there, i do speed runs with it now using a Team Blue Groove grp body on it. Have a gps device on the way to know forsure but guessing 70mph+ . I had to switch to foam tires because every rubber tire would balloon and on any steering correction it just gets out of control, foams are much more well balanced aswell. Its alot of fun and must admit ive always been envious of the losi but i always have a great time no matter the model. Thanks for showing your losi!

O and just to add for anyone interested. My mini 8ight buggy with velineon combo i dremeled the slots in the gpm motor mount to the point that i now am running a 21t pinion with a hot racing 56tooth spur which is 2 teeth smaller than the stock spur. Stock pinion was like a 12 or something. I dont have a gps but holy crap its fast as lighting and with that combo it still runs warm but not hot at all. If i didnt have AVC in the car i would never get a good speed pass with my amateur driving abilities lol.

I have an 8t too with a few upgrades. It sits on my shelf now because parts are so hard to find. Unfortunately im always breaking rear diff covers from landing on the wing.

@rickortiz654 Kind of hoping Losi brings is back but as a owner of one like that they haven't for value purposes😊

The Mini 8ight line in general was the best and Horizon were idiots for discontinuing them.
Honestly, the problem was that minis in general don't sell, because they're too fast for indoor driving in a house (despite being marketed for indoor use), too small for outdoors, and the racing crowd tends to not treat them seriously. For a mini to be successful in the current market it basically has to be a mini monster truck (to make up for the size for outdoor running), a drift car (which can be run more easily indoors since you're sliding around rather than going fast), or super cheap (so that people will buy them anyway). The Mini 8ight series of cars was absolutely amazing, but it just didn't have a place in the market.

@VestedUTuber I have a feeling with the success of the Grom and the Mini B and T, HH may revisit some version of this platform again very soon.

I kinda doubt it, honestly. Horizon doesn't really tend to rerelease discontinued products like that - heck, even with their historically-significant vintage platforms like the JRX-2, they didn't bother to make a true rerelease, they just remade it in 1/16th scale. And that's in spite of the popularity of vintage racing.

@@VestedUTuber They do have a small, be it small sample of re-releasing disco'd RC's. Both from Vaterra and revisited under the Losi brand(the desert truck and the V100). I can easily see the mini 8ight turn up under Arrma in some form. I won't even go into my feelings on the 6ix and the hints I see on the entire Arrma on-road lineup. Then there is the SCTE versions (SCBE, Ten MT) when those were disco'd and brought back as a tenacity lineup with the plastic chassis. But I have no insight. I'm just wishing😊 I forgot about the attempts with the Fazon, Big Rock, Raider and Vortex (which they change to Vorteks). Those were more of a love of the name by either Arrma or HH than a re-release of the previous version. Maybe not the Raider though🤔
