One of my prized possessions is a cd copy of Herzeleid signed by every band member on their picture. Except for Till, who signed the cover. I got to meet and shake hands with all of them after one of their shows. It was really cool.
definitely agree with your ranking here. Zeit would fit in the A tier imo. I actually do also listen to Kraftwerk a lot as well. I'd even go as far as to say I prefer them over Rammstein. Man Machine, Computerworld and Tour de France are albums I could listen to every day and never get tired of them. Rammstein is still absolutely fantastic though, their quality has been very consistent throughout the years, which is rare.
German native here🙋♂️. I would say, around 85% of the lyrics are somewhat satirical. All of them have a second layer of meaning. As a German you can get offended by those harsh raw brutal offending lyrics very easily. But under that, there is a lyrical or satirical meaning. If you get that, you'll get the whole experience. The loneliness and desperation in "Mutter" or "Klavier" for example, despite their really fucked up premise and lyrics. I love "Zerstören", because the main lyrics are so direct and aggressive, you have no sympathy for "him". But the outro is so lyrical and tragic, you can't not feel empathy for him at the end. Amour as well. You feel the frustration building up in the song, that love will always fucks you up in the end. And every time(or every Chorus), you get more frustrated and sad/angry when your heart is broken. The list could go on for like 85% of the songs. Grüße aus Deutschland 🇩🇪

I also haven't really listened to Zeit yet, very much for the same reason. I actually loathed this band's stuff on TV and radio in the 2000s, but during the next decade they became one of the few "new" bands (formed in the 90s or later) I've ever been a fan of. Herzeleid is a masterpiece, and I very much agree with this ranking order, as well as the decision to stick to their language. I always thought that Kraftwerk's English versions were obsolete, and I hate having to hunt down their German physical media amidst the English ones (more rare and thus often more costly).
Just to say the wall had fallen by the time Rammstein formed, one of the bands several of them were in was playing in West Berlin the night it fell and couldn't get back home as the wall was so crowded that night. 9:04 lmao. Thank god you say Flake correctly as well. For me I don't think there's many weakspots for me in their discography but theres a few songs on Reise Reise and Rosenrot where its a slog. I love their immense stadium riffs but it just hits a point of terminal mass on those albums where I zone out but I love Stirb Nicht Vor Mir which some people hate, the vocalist was Sharleen Spiteri from the band Texas who you should give a spin to see what she usually does vocally. I'd put most of the albums in A or S and those middle albums would be B or C for me. Really shocked you disliked LIFAD, really solid album for me. For Pussy it was body doubles and I think that jokey side of Rammstein has been present since Buck Dich. For comments being turned off on Auslander, they're off on all their videos and have been for years which i like in a way because the art just stands on its own. For Zeit theres also a great piss take song called OK (Ohne Kondom = Without Condom), its a great album. Saw them in Berlin last year and I'm seeing them in Prague and Dublin this year. Really enjoying binging your tier videos man keep it up. Where did you get that pixel thing in the back? Is it a divoom?

They shut off comments on all their video's which was smart of them, considering most comment sections of video's are full of people trying to be edgy, funny or just plain gross. There's also those nutcases who go off on tangents that have nothing to do with anything and those morons that feel the need to stand on their god wad soapbox and quote bible verses or proclaim how everyone who watches this are going to HELL! 🤣

kraftwerk is a completely different sound but yes they are pretty fantastic. Those melodies and song structures are classic.
