Some noticings: Naji's best portfolio of players is easily Kyrie and... SGA. I wonder if that's something the mavs noticed. He's a solid defender overall, using his length and reaction time rather than quickness and athleticism like DJJ.
Yeah he’s definitely slower than DJJ but he appears to be a bit taller and bigger. I’d argue DJJ was better for those smaller guard matchups due to his quickness despite what you see in these clips. Naji’s best cover would be someone like Tatum or Durant, but he looks serviceable against those fast Kyrie/SGA types.
@@invisobill2125 Yea I agree with what you're saying. The good tape against Kyrie was pretty surprising, but I guess if you think about it Kyrie isn't as quick as he feels. It's a lot of very sudden movements that most defenders can't react to quickly enough. Same with SGA who kinda has his one move that he's incredible at (that sudden midrange bump and lean back shot). I think Naji's best trait as a defender (besides his length) is his reaction time. You'll notice countless times he times a dribble perfectly on a cross to steal it and the offensive player almost looks surprised.

Love it. I think we need see him more consistently picking them up though- he was blessed to play alongside one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA in herb Jones. Now he’s gonna have to be that guy for a team with chip aspirations. One of the biggest X factors on the team

Kyrie and Grimes are gonna be POA defenders. Grimes will be ahead of Hardy if his offense isn’t undeniable.
