Couple of little gameplay wrinkles i really love about this game’s combat system: you can view this as tips but i just wanna ramble abt how much i love the posture mechanics -guarding, attacking, doing any action in combat basically, stops/slows posture recovery. Attacking enemies in idle tends to be worth it because it stops their posture regen by forcing them to block/deflect -when health is low, posture recovers more slowly. This is especially useful on some later enemies with insane posture regen at full health. You will need to reduce their health to be able to build up their posture -if you hold r1, you do a thrust attack instead of a regular attack. This is like this game’s version of a heavy attack because it does extra health damage and it can’t be blocked. Next time you’re faced with a regular enemy that’s turtling, try thrust attacking them. Except for Owl. Actually, scratch that, especially for owl. Definitely try thrust attacking him, at least once. He’s uh… extra weak to it, trust me. Overall i just love how all the pieces click together in this game. You’ll notice that all the mechanics i mentioned also apply to the player. Really feels like everyone’s playing by the same rules, which makes the duel boss fights all the more satisfying. Excited for this playthrough! Hope u can illuminate some things for me about the Dragon’s return ending, bc so far my favorite has always been purification, makes the most sense to me on a narrative level
