Really like this kind of video. I have a small budget when it comes to warlord's figures so I rely heavily on the box sets. All my American, German, Japanese, and Russians are from the boxes. Please keep it up. One bit of constructive criticism, change the background to something besides plain white or add some more Bolt Action model pictures. Maybe some of your own figures? Really interested on the afrika korps army you got
Bought my first box of 8th army this week, just built and primed 12 out of those 30 guys. So I found this video at the right time. Good stuff, thank you for doing this. Very helpful overall, with some useful advice and suggestions - much appreciated. Liked and subscribed!
A great option for the pistol waving officer is as the free artillery FO. Once he's called in the artillery, he's pretty much useless so having a useless gun is in character.
Hey there, I love your videos they are immensely helpful. My 11 y/o son and I are brand new to BA and are curious if you are able to field regular army squads (like British Infantry) with Airborne squads? Or are they treated as separate factions/armies and you only build up each "faction" as their own deal? Might be a dumb question or maybe not logical to do, but he wanted to play germans and couldn't decide on fallschirmjagers or grenadiers, and I couldn't decide Airborne or reg. us army so I got some of all haha. I don't necessarily want to build 4 armies though if you get my drift. I personally just wanted to have a theme of some paratroopers that were scooped up or otherwise attached to regular army units.
Depending on the command trait and play style it might be better to go with the early war loadout on the NCOs, kitting them out with rifles instead of SMGs. Just a tip for the north african early war Homies.
Oh, man! I literally just got my 1st box of Germans and started putting them together. I only assembled 6 and was going for “rule of cool”, especially since I couldn’t find 5 arms holding rifles on a sprue. Should I wait for your video before completing? I was planning on an NCO with SMG, 1 LMG and loader per squad, and the rest rifles...
Matt Cappelli Can’t go wrong with that build. Only recommendation is to build more LMGs with your extra bodies. Assault Rifles and Panzerfausts are also great if you’re doing that era of the war.
Hollywood Wargaming ok. Great. I couldn’t find a panzerfaust listed in the basic infantry unit as an upgrade. Would that be in a different squad choice? Easy army has 12+ infantry selections and I haven’t started going through them or my German army book yet
Hollywood Wargaming winter Germans. Deciding on Stalingrad or Ardennes theater, but I really want to try painting camouflage so leaning towards Ardennes
Will also be ordering some stuff from Rubicon based off your recommendations... panzer 3, armored car, and a field artillery piece. So with the infantry set and supporting sets I have, I should have a solid foundational force
I would say so, yes. Not the craziest discount overall in terms of $ but all of the units it includes are very good. I own every one of those models myself and they all see frequent action, except for maybe the MMG.
@@HollywoodWargaming Thanks! Putting an order at the moment :) I saw that there are different head options. I dont have the rules yet, but I saw some Sihks and Scottish ones. Does it have an inpact on which heads I use?
@@HollywoodWargaming Hm, is a Mathilda a better choise to swap out the MMG for or what do you recommend? I guess the Africa Korps have a slight advantage over the 8th starter set
Hi, love the video. I would also preface that the British infantry box sets come in sets of 5 in the sprue. So per box you only get 25 guys. I went with 2 squads. SMG and LMG, A platoon commander, light mortar and PIAT team for my first box. Keep up these bolt action videos! It needs more representation online!

You can run them as British Infantry and alongside them. Check out the Reinforced Platoons on EasyArmy.com or the Armies of Great Britian book.

Matt Cappelli It would be a late war infantry squad. What box set did you get?

I'm thinking these lists are applicable to the new British / Canadian sets. Any plans on making a video on how to best build Commandos?
I just looked at the spruce the other day. May need to play a bit with them
No mention of the older late war box?
Is the 8th Army starter set, the big desert rat one worth it to pick up?

I would have made a 2 man officer squad, a 2 man anti tank team and use the rest to build 3 (almost) equally sized squads.
sorry but I think you put too many guns in the picture, it shows 3x11 weapons
kool video tho, much appreciated

They come in 6’s 5x6=30 says it right on the box
@@Otherworldlyobjectives the new box does yes, this was the original late war British infantry box set.
@@SonoVAo the video shows the desert rats and those are the sprues being referenced, cheers mate
