Yeah, those are flares, can be in any color and smells pretty bad. Sometimes shit happens and some fans throw them into the pitch. And all those are brought in by the fans, always disguised into something that's overlooked at security. Also, some clubs are in touch with the fan groups to organize big "pictures" on the stands. And we call them sports clubs because they usually have many sports unlike America which has franchising.
Well fan groups get flares in trought conection with club or flags my dad before 16 years always bringed flag to games and they knew him so he could always get in
In Europe we take football to heart , it s a tradition every country have clubs of football ,they have they re own anthem ,but when we play country against another country it s mach heavy ..we love football and i love my " crazy " european ❤
We used to invent chants on train or coach trips to the game. If 50 people knew it by the time you reached the ground then the next 50,000 would pick it up fast.
In Europe the fans are part of the club so the ultras (hard core fans) often work together with the club for big matches. Firework and big banners. I’m an Ajax Amsterdam fan ❌❌❌
"Imagine playing with all that going on"......I can't imagine any sportsperson wanting to play in silence. Thus noise goes on throwout the entire game throuought Europe, South America, Africa, far east, Australia. I would want that noise as it make you work harder for your fNs/supporters. It is like having that extra man on the pitch.
I loved the remark in the beginning, it looks like the stadium is shaking a bit. Believe me, the stadium is not shaking a bit. It is shaking, it is moving and it is going every way. When everybody jumps the whole stadium will be shaking badly. But the vibe makes you just jump as hard as you can. It is crazy but when you experienced it ones you will understand why everybody joines in.
The whole thing IS shaking. It is designed to do that to stop it collapsing. It's built to about 5 times the weight of each person, although sometimes if a crowd gets the exact right rhythm, it can cause big issues.

I think the Great Depression played a part in why it never took off in America. They had the offer to host it as an exhibition sport at the 1932 Summer Olympics in L.A., but felt it would have cost too much to do so. They had decent semi-pro leagues back in the day, and the first World Cup had only been played two years earlier, where the United States took third place.
The world's best fans? Check out AFC Wimbledon. We lost our club to a franchising move (not ever supposed to happen) and started our own club. we started from the bottom. I'm talking "sand lot" league. We kept getting promoted to higher leagues and after only 9 seasons, we were promoted to the fully professional English Football League. Last year, we movd into our brand new stadium in Wimbledon. We own our club and fans (elected by fans) run the Board. We are ore than customers. We are a unique story in English football.
Lol the wave you spoke about in the beginning is called the Mexican wave and was invented in the world cup so I'm afraid football is gonna have to claim that too

Great video guys. But yeah, it’s not “part of the stadium”. Those aren’t fires you see in the stands, those are flares that fans bring themselves. They’re pretty safe as long as you don’t toss it directly onto something flammable, you can literally hold it in your hand as it’s burning.
Where do the chants come from? Grudges, revenge, hate, passion. Europa had wars and conflicts since the beginning of recorded European history. Gives us some materials to develop chants.
This not optical ilusion! Imegine when 10 000 peoples start jumping in one sector on balkony and on stadium is a lot of more fans (30 000-40 000 avarege). Whole stadium chaking like a wave!

just a few comments. the fires are not part of the stadiums. those are flares. illegal to bring them but they somehow get them in. when they all jump in unison the structures have to take this. those large stadiums are designed to take the stress - older ones are strengthened to cope. some sway up to 4m in one direction. there are videos showing the stadium literally jumping up and down and swaying. when Europe countries play against each other the WWII can still be a big issue and becomes part of the chants and the game. unfortunately.
