WINNING TRAITS OF A GOOD GAS GRILL
    - Extra flame tamer bars between burners to help spread out heat
    - Cast-iron grates, which transfer heat best
    - Well-built cookbox with tight-sealing lid and few vents
    - Lid that shuts tightly to retain heat and opens wide so smoke isn’t directed toward your face
    - Large-capacity cooking grate so food is not crowded
    - Sturdy construction
    WHAT WE EXAMINED
BURNERS: Gas grills heat via perforated tubes called burners that emit flames when ignited. Grills are described by their number of burners, though we found that this did not correlate with performance or capacity.
GRATES: The grill grates are made of either cast iron or stainless steel.
SIZE OF MAIN COOKING GRATE AND HEAT OUTPUT: Manufacturers typically list the combined total square inches, including warming racks and side burners. More usefully, we list the dimensions of the main cooking grate and how many 4-inch burgers each can fit. Similarly, we only list the BTU (British Thermal Units-a measure of heat output per hour) numbers of the main burner.
FEATURES: Some grills offer more extra features than others.
GRILLING: We grilled hamburgers and steaks over direct heat, looking for distinct grill marks, well-browned crusts, and moist interiors. We mapped the heat pattern of each grill by covering its preheated surface with white bread slices and examining the toast.
INDIRECT COOKING: We prepared pulled pork, keeping the grill at 300 degrees for more than 4 hours. Thermocouples confirmed whether lid thermometers were accurate. We rated the pork on smoky flavor and tender, moist texture.
DESIGN: Grills received higher marks if their designs made it easier to set them up and cook.
DURABILITY: Models that were hard to roll; lost wheels, doors, or other parts; or showed greater wear and tear received lower scores.
CLEANUP: We rated whether grates were easy to scrub clean and whether grills had secure, large grease trays and catch pans that were easy to reach.

In a previous home I had the 310 S. It had a sear station to one side and worked flawlessly. I currently use a Broil King Signet 300. $100 less. Equal build quality and for my purpose, just as good. I also own a Green Mountain Grill for smoking and a PK grill for searing as well. Sous vide is a great tool to add.

Thank you! I've been trying to decide on a grille for a couple of months, struggling through Consumer Reports reviews are don't really address how things actually cook, and poorly-made videos by fan boys for certain brands. Your video finally showed exactly how you tested the grilles, and what the results were. Since I don't cook red meat very often, I don't care about sear marks - I want consistent cooking for chicken, veggies and fish...the Weber Spirit E-310 will be the one I purchase.

Been using the same CharBroil Masterflame 8000 since 1995. I just replace the grate, burner, and vaporizer shield every few years. It works best with ceramic briquettes as it was designed for. I will continue to use it until I can't get parts anymore. It's been THAT good. I think the secret to even temperature is the ceramic briquettes. They reflect heat in every direction. I don't know why they stopped using them, but you can put them in any gas grill and get better results.

Just bought a Weber Genesis E-310. Replaced the grates with Grill Grates®. Cooked Italian sausages the other day and marinated chicken breasts tonight. Best of those two I've ever made. Sausages cooked evenly and the chicken was so moist and delicious. Up next--burgers and steaks. My thoughts on the Genesis and the Grill Grates? Grilling perfection.

@@chieflouie2821 Make sure you register it online with Weber so you get your 10 year warranty. Great deal! Btw, I always tell people that if you are just buy a grill to do some hotdogs and hamburgers, any grill is fine, because grills have horrible resell value (even Webers). So don't expect to get a good chunk of your money back if you try to sell it (yes even Webers). However, we don't buy Webers just for simple Grilling. We buy Webers to do real versatile grilling. We buy Webers to keep!!!

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 4 года назад +1

The E-210 II was the second-place winner in the most-recent test; they wrote, "All the updated features in the three-burner Weber Spirit II are also found in the new two-burner version, the E-210. While this model’s cookbox and wingspan are a bit smaller overall, its cooking grate is just 2 inches narrower and has the same depth as on the three-burner model. That means a similar-size grate has one fewer burner, which makes this model a bit underpowered by comparison. However, we were able to accomplish all the same cooking tasks as on the larger three-burner grill with good results. While we prefer the greater firepower of the larger model, the two-burner option is less expensive by $100 and a bit more compact if space is at a premium."

As a previous Traeger+ user, I can honestly say that switching to Asmoke has been a game-changer in my grilling experience. What sets Asmoke apart is the versatility - from grilling, smoking, roasting, baking, and more, it offers an impressive range of cooking options. The precise temperature control, thanks to the FlameTech patent, makes grilling more efficient. I was pleasantly surprised by the unique smoky flavor that the various wood pellets added to my food. Additionally, the convenience of a rechargeable battery offering up to 10 hours of runtime is a major plus, allowing me to grill anywhere, anytime. The app is user-friendly, making remote temperature adjustment and food temperature monitoring a breeze. All in all, Asmoke has truly revolutionized the way I grill. #Asmoke

I'm not here to talk about brands, but I've cooked with small (3 burner) BBQs, medium (4 burners), and large (6+ burners) BBQs, in the end I always ended up saying the smaller ones cooked better. You just have more control over the heat & cooking pattern. Large cooking areas are obviously fun for big parties, but if you can afford it, the best is to have a small one for when you just cook for your family, and a bigger one for parties.

And the right side is hotter than the left. Possibly because the ignition box is gone and there’s more of a flame on that right side. All in all it’s been great! But I think it’s time for a new one.

surprisingly I have used this grill at a friends house. I found that it cooked food much better than my own gas webber. I would like to add that I mostly use gas grills as im in it for the quick direct cook of things. You should do some research into replacement parts. Especially the grill grate and the heat diffusers. These things rust out quickly and you either have to pay as much as the whole grill costs or they dont make something that fits.

Thanks for the thorough review. The Weber is a good choice, but I recommend the Vermont Castings three-burner grill. Mine has the features of the Weber, and after close to 20 years the only “repair” I have had to do is to replace the flavorizers and drip pan. It still looks great (blue enamel lid), has the original grates and burners ... and the igniter still works! By the way, I’d advise against buying any grill at a big box store.

my first two grills were Charbroils that I reconditioned myself and they were always flimsy and parts burnt up quickly. My Weber seems a lot more durable.

I just got rid of a 4 burner Stainless Charbroil Commercial Series - I had it for 10 years replacing the internals 4 or 5 times. It never really cooked well, hot spots, burgers and steaks were burnt on the outside and rare on the inside. I could not justify the price tags of the better brands.but finally took the dive before seeing this video. My Spirit E-310 is set to arrive on Friday, can't wait!

Excellent. Thanks. Besides the Weber, were there any other good ones? Who came in 2nd & 3rd, and were they acceptable too?

Great video and test metrics, but You really should release the results of the tests for each grill so users can pick the one that has the most value to them (instead of just announcing the 'best one'), because the price difference in these grills is significant (some costing almost 300% more than others).

Still deciding between 210 and 310. I wish they were as cheap in Europe, as a 310 costs over 700 euros :s But to be honest I think it will be well worth it. Not sure if the 210 is big enough for the occasional party with 8 or so people. Remember, the pieces of meat are usually a bit smaller in Europe :D

I have an infra red Grillmaster and in my opinion, gas grills suck. So I have a $550 gas grill, a Black stone griddle and The Big Green Egg. I have used the gas grill at least 4 times in the past two years. Has a nice cover though.

Great review ! Is this grill made in the USA ?

  • @glennz9278

Just a tip -- spend the extra money for a Weber Genesis. Made in the USA, you can count on good service for 20 years, or more. The Spirit models are Weber's budget models, made in China. I have multiple Weber grills. The oldest I bought in 1995. Weber's customer service is second to none. I can still get parts for my 22-year-old Weber grill.
