Thanks guys for doing my songs. Great reaction, I love this album, must have heard it a 1000 times. So many great songs on this album, so hard to pick just one. Looking forward to hearing more. Best, Frank Phantom 3.
RUSH is perfection! This album sounds very pastoral, sparse, majestic, orchestral.... Jesus, only RUSH could pull off originality like this! Even the guitar solo builds up tension, then beautiful release! MASTERCLASS!
The first Rush album I ever bought, after seeing them do Farewell to Kings (the song) on the Midnight Special or Don Kirschner's Rock Concert TV show one night in 1978.
It's amazing how many different sounds Rush has played through the decades as their career has rolled on. They were never afraid to just follow their passion for music whichever way it took them they didn't really care what others thought as they progressed through their 45+ years together from the beginning when a couple of classmates in 5th grade became best friends and started playing music together...what a story they wrote.
Another great Rush react. Just love the solo, with the wamme and the wawa. The rhythm guitar during the solo is also awesome. Neil and Geddy are also superb. More Rush please!
Watching you two react is just so much fun. The communication between the two of you with your body language and your eyes the faces you make everything tells a story. Thank you for reacting to Rush once again!

Hey Nick N Lex, I can't believe I've been listening to this song for 44 years, where does the time go? This is a very meaty shot song. Lots of music to feast on. Glad you both enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.
So glad you guy’s are getting into A Farewell to Kings album. This song has a little different feel than a lot of Rush’s catalog. It’s a little more funkier, especially in a Geddy’s bass playing. Geddy actually wrote the lyrics on this song and he loosely based it on Frank Capra film Mr Deeds goes to town. As usual Rush is able to get a lot of quality music in a short song.
Great reaction! I don't mind you pausing. After all, you are "reacting" are you not? I especially like you having an initial opinion at the first pause, then hearing more of the songs you react to and changing your minds along the way. That's how a lot of us feel after the first listen, as well - even without pausing. Keep it up! RUSH it up! Thank you.
A couple things: Whenever a Rush album would come out, we would hear the first single about 3 weeks out, then the second single around the week of the release. After that we devoured the album. I'm not kidding you, I personally would listen to it literally 30 times from front to back in the first week alone. So yeah, 2 singles are fine from each album, maybe 3. Then get to know the entire album in sequence as intended. Next, this was a unique review! Try reviewing more rarities like Territories, Bravado, Prime Mover, Available Light, Leave That Thing Alone, The Larger Bowl, and The Anarchist (each are singles from every album since PW '85). Nice reaction. Yeah I hear the Beatles/Zepplin influence in the song as well. Like you guys, I listen to the music first. Then I go back and listen again with the lyrics. I did that every time a new Rush album came out.
Very fun bass line to play in the instrumental section. I used to have a blast playing that and if I was just playing alone, people would not believe it was Rush Thank you for sacrificing so you can share with us. Its priceless.

Great to see you reacting to more RUSH, but I hope you'll get back to more YES. RUSH loved YES and were heavily influenced by them. When YES was finally inducted into the RRHOF it was Geddy and Alex that introduced them and because their bass player Chris Squire had just passed away, Geddy played bass with them when they performed Roundabout. Geddy was like a kid in a candy store that day. It's all on yt. Enjoy 🙂

Great song great reaction but on this album my favorite is Closer To The Heart. Also one should not assume if the live version was requested that it must be the video it could just be the live audio from Spotify. Although it could very well be that the request is the video version.🙏🏽✌🏽❤️
It took me at least a year on & off to learn this bass line from Cinderella Man to a point where I was comfortable playing it. I did the same with Time Stand Still from the Hold Your Fire album (absolute classic, must listen to album from Rush's 80's era) And how Geddy Lee manages to play such complex bass lines while singing, is still a mystery to me. It takes a lot of skill to play like that and sing at the same time. The guy is a legend. A Farewell To Kings often jostles for 1st place as my all time, No.1 album.
This is why im a old RUSH fan Geddys voice the guitar tone less synth plus i was a teen during these years The Fountain of Lamneth is my favorite keep rockin
One of my favorite Rush deep cuts. The bass is so funky and the guitar solo is twisted and awesome (love the stereo effects). Glad you enjoyed. A few more deep cuts for Rush that you should check out: Mr. Soul (cover of Buffalo Springfield from Feedback), Entre Nous (from Permanent Waves), The Color of Right (from Test for Echo), and Ghost Rider (from Vapor Trails).
Geddy wrote the song after watching the great old Gary Cooper movie Mr. Deeds Goes To Town. This song almost seems like it is a declaration for basic human decency by Geddy. As if the message comes first. It grew on me so much more after I saw the movie. Thanks Geddy!

The studio version of Xanadu is a MUST. It has a precision, perfection and production that has to be heard on its own. When I come across reactions to that song, and it's a live version, I turn it off. Yes, the live version is great, but PLEASE listen to the studio version first as it was mean to be originally heard.

Its your channel, if you guys feel like pausing more you should! Your chemistry is always more quirky and in the moment when you comment right after youre hearing a special part.... lol nice one guys
Pause as much as you like. A couple of additional requests now you've got live working. For Lex especially: 1) Rush "Leave that thing Alone" (Instrumental from "Time Machine" Tour) 2. Band-Maid "Play" (try and find the 14th Feb 2020 Live Version).... this is a decent introduction to their capabilities and more generally, Band-Maid "Freedom" (again from 14 Feb 2020 concert, I think), this is just pure fun. Both can be found on their official channel. Band-Maid are phenomenal Live and please note once you start with them, your subs count will explode. Luckily, I am not a YT reactor so after only discovering them about a month ago, I've binged pretty much everything they've released, prior to that I only had ears for Rush. Have fun :)
Chord voicing is using the notes of the chord and changing the shape where the root note could be the third or fifth of the chord,I think. In the classical intro to A Farewell to kings,he uses this method on the ascending part at the end.
There are tons of ways to play any given chord. That's true for both guitar and piano. The choices you make have a major effect on the "voice" of the chord. It's one of big reasons different players have different sounds. Lifeson's a master of tasty chord choices.
Regarding whether you should pause or not pause, it's your channel. Do what you want. People getting mad at you for pausing is silly. If they don't like it, just don't watch. Simple.
I prefer no pause, but, yeah, you hit it on the head. It's Nick and Lexi's channel. Who am I to set the rules. And at least they are classy enough not to pause during epic solos like some out there do. Oy Ve! :o)
No habia escuchado mucho de rush.. excelente esos cambios y esos cortes, vi solo sus reacciones en español, pero empezare a ver sus reacciones en ingles tambien.. excelente reaccion!..
I really love that you insist on listening to the studio version first. So many of the other reaction channels only do the live versions if they can. I prefer the studio versions, myself. Thanks! John 14:6
Other great deep cuts to check out are stick it out, resist, mission, in the mood, the pass, and two great instrumentals the main monkey Business and limbo

Its your channel, if you guys feel like pausing more you should! Your chemistry is always more quirky and in the moment when you comment right after youre hearing a special part.... lol nice one guys
One of my favorite oldies. Lol
From this album Closer to the heart is a classic from the band as well as Xanadu
One of the songs Neil did not write. This was actually written by Geddy. It's a great song!!! One of my faves as well!
you mean lyrics he did not write, Geddy/Alex write all of the songs
@@shallex5744 Geddy wrote the lyrics to Cinderella Man was what i was saying.
@@shallex5744 so yes. Thanks
Have fun :)
Excellent song Excellent album
check out the metal side of Rush with headlong flight!!
My fav album
I had read somewhere that Alex Lifeson was a master at chord voicing. I always wondered what that meant can you tell me.
Thanks for the info.
When I first heard this song I was walking away into the kitchen, froze turned around and sat down. Hit me hard
If you like instrumentals, you're gonna love Steve Vai
Finally more rush it’s hard to find your reactions to rush I don’t know why?
Lex, I heard a pretty good little Getty imitation at the break. Thanks for this enjoyment!
Nick with the "High elbow" bass mimic! 😁😁
Oy Ve! :o)
I really love that you insist on listening to the studio version first. So many of the other reaction channels only do the live versions if they can. I prefer the studio versions, myself. Thanks! John 14:6
Man…Geddy’s staccato is so damn good!
I'm also surprised that you haven't reacted to more Liquid Tension Experiment 3. This is probably the best instrumental album ever composed.
Other great deep cuts to check out are stick it out, resist, mission, in the mood, the pass, and two great instrumentals the main monkey Business and limbo
