Yeah. So many folks these days do not know that before YJM this level of playing was just unknown. But man after that first solo run where he melts your face, he mimics the “I am a Viking” melody to let you cool off and then goes on a tear and melts you all over again. ❤❤❤❤ No matter how many doughnuts he refuses I will always love him.
I am a Viking, I'm going out to war I've got death upon my mind As I was leavin', oh, yesterday I've got no fear in my heart As the shores of my home disappear I sail over the sea without fear Dragon ships are charging through the waves Just want to sail away, far away into the sea, yeah I am a warrior, my mind is set to kill Life or death is on the line I am a slayer and you will taste my steel I've got your life right in my hand As the shores of my home disappear I sail over the sea without fear Dragon ships are charging through the waves Just want to sail away, far away into the sea, yeah You are a loser and it's such a shame That you're a fool and you don't know That in a viking, I'll walk all over you And by my sword you will die As the shores of my home disappear I sail over the sea without fear Dragon ships are charging through the waves Just want to sail away, far away into the sea, yeah No-no-no, no

lol, funny you said that, because I was around that age when I discovered Yngwie. I was learning English and needed the printed lyrics to understand. I remember reading that line and thinking it was badass.
I had a friend back in the early 80, his name was Bill Penn, a fantastic guitarist, he took my guitar from me one night and started playing this riff, that guitar has never been the same!!
No one sounded like yngwie on a fender before(or.. After!) He was a crazy combination of uli Roth al di meola and ritchie blackmore with the shredding attitude of randy Rhoades and the melody approach of michael schennker
At the time...light years ahead of EVERYONE. First two albums... Immaculate. He scared the best of the best. 3... Jimi, Eddie and Yngwie ( later boosting the bar higher than ever). BTW, he wrote catchy, cohesive songs then.
@@emcg.9655 It's already possible to alter a voice with a.i. music production tools. You isolate the vocal track, keep the notes and re-texture it with a different voice (Michael Jackson, Madonna...). In a few years those presets will include perfect phrasing, sense of melody and trademarks of an artist and will be very convincing. Like a real singer can analyze and learn to sing like Dio.
Ich habe mich 1984 tierisch darauf gefreut und konnte es kaum erwarten bis das erste Album raus kam . I saw Ingwie Malmsteen when was 16 at the orange show …I’m 52 now …Mind blowing show…Saxon and black and blue bands were openers! Dude Unbelievable show never will forget!
One of thee most badass of badassed songs ever fucling written. Saw him do it in 85. I was 20 when I saw him do this and I just can’t shake off to this day what I witnessed. Serious BADASSERY! So I went home and practiced. Still practicing.😵💫

Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big ! America's answer to Canada's Geddy Lee snd Alex Lifeson of Legendary Rock Band, Rush. Imagine these four cats playing note for note in perfect time covering a couple of tracks by Yngeie Malmsteen Rising Force / Marching Out, "I'll see the light tonight" and "I am a Viking" That would be a treat to be sure !
That opening blistering scale leading up to the main solo is unmatched...any guitarist that has strapped on a guitar, or recorded, since the beginning, has NOTHING...yes, even EVH eruption, and SRV live in Texas...big claim...but I've heard them all @ 53 years old
I love how the intro lick of the solo feels a bit rushed, like he's rushing to get in as many notes in that measure as he can before descending back down the scale, which has a little more relaxed feel to it!
I still laugh at when Soto comes in on the opener. My buddy in the dorms in college back in the 80's would laugh at his opener when I would play this. Classic 0:17
This is Yngwie at his peak.
Probably true. But I’m gonna say ‘Trilogy’ was the peak. Still, the guy is torchin and shreddin guitars in 2023. Fucker knows no peak
Agreed.
Don't forget 2005 ALBUM
@@demonology2629 or 2010
I agree. Raw emotion and the tone was amazing!
Yngwie is clearly light years ahead at that point. That solo still gives me chills.

Solos are boring... That riff is what draws me personally
@@DeffoZappo because you're a weirdo
When Yngwie complements the melody his solo's are amazing. This is a prime example and maybe his best work.
His first two solo albums are the best. After that it all started sounding the same.
Another game changer on how to play 6 strings!
I saw yngwie in 84'85'86 I was like. 17-19 years old and yngwie was in his prime ten thousand percent 🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
i remember going to the library and printing these tabs out
That solo is off the charts..
A nacional hero here , he took Usa by storm...and educated 95% of local guitar players how to play a Fender the right way... a master !!!
True!😎❤
Why doesn’t Spotify have this masterpiece!!!
right
Racism?
It used to but the rights are lost and it's unavailable now
@@hirenkyakyu0013 Did you or your ancestors killed by Vikings?

Jeff Scott Soto...what a voice to compliment Yngwie Malmsteen
Unbelievable techniques
I saw JSS in Vegas in ‘97 fronting 70s tribute The Boogie Knights. Absolutely incredible!
"yngwie malmsteen is the best neoclassical guitarist" - yngwie malmsteen
lmfao
Welp.....he is. It ain't bragging if you are.
Wrong! It was Yngwie...no last name. Like Lemmy, Iggy or Tony.
and he is right
He knows knowing about classical guitar. RUclips Segovia.
I think newer generations don't understand where music comes from.
This guitar is classical music.
Real metal guitar is classical.
Just my opinion.
totally agree dude 🤘🏻🤘🏻🍻🍻

Bro that shit made me laugh so hard too, pretty sure i was around 16 or something. Great funny metal lyrics indeed, and badass song.
the greatest opening to a guitar solo EVER

in this Yng Way !!
This is a masterpiece n playing rhythm & lead guitar playing. Jeff is killing it & makes u want 2 listen 2 the lyrics
Somehow this song has the most satisfying guitar solo that I ever heard.
