Just work on the immediate goal which is MCAT for you. When the times comes worry about step 1. Just focus on the immediate goals and you will do great!
How do you memorize what you learned from the meduim Robin's book? I have read the entire book but I have trouble memorizing the information in the book.
I studied the big Robbins for my 3rd year (general pathology) and none of the exams had questions with that much depth. I will be following your advice and switch to the medium Robbins for my 4th year (special pathology) and then use the big Robbins as a reference textbook. Thanks Doc!
thankyou for existing
Just a warning to all the first year MD students, make sure you start and finish studying pathology early into the semester, it is THE LEAST crammable subject with Biochemistry as a close second. Don't do it to yourself lol.
"After I finish the chapter : I forgot too much" summarizes my whole life. Sometimes I feel like my memory sucks. I will study at Robbins this semester and unfortunately I only have the big one available.
+Carol Vargas - send me a temporary email address and I will get you the middle Robbins.
It's only natural, which is why you need your primary resources to be concise and as straight-to-the-point as possible.
100 pages of extremely detailed pathology with very low retention, not a good way to go.
The same topic watered down to 30 or so pages of more value to a student will still end up being 50% forgotten on the first run, but that's a lot easier to make up for during revisions than the 100 pages.
I was the wannabe student that ALWAYS skipped faculty and lecture notes in favor of "Big" Robins, Guyton and Katzung, and the only thing I have to show for it is that I'm barely in the top 50th percentile of my class.
I share the same fate😂😂😂

Thank you so much for this videos. I live in Namibia (Africa) and this is really very helpful to me. Please keep on posting videos about resources you use as you go along. Would highly appreciate it!
You have no idea how much you have helped me with this video! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to do path. I have RR, Pathoma, Basic, Basis and I was confused! THANK YOU DOCOSSAREH!
Thanks! I love my cat.
Pathoma > anything else.
Alaa Baqer so do you suggest that I read Pathoma with the video lectures and also read Robbins for preparing for step 1?
well said.
Why is everyone saying this. Pathoma doesn't seem anything special to me. Just a bunch of bullet points with no actual explanation. How can you learn and understand something like that? I understand it's great for revision but I'm not sure about learning from it as a primary ressource
@@angry_moose94 From my understanding (I Could be wrong) the textbook is to be supplemented by the video lectures.
If you combine pathoma with supplemented video, it is actually really good, specially for general pathology.
hey i'm from Trinidad and Tobago, self study thanks for your insight this books are what i need thanks man.
Oh god ! You can’t even imagine how much that iam greatfull and thankful for you ❤️
Thanks a lot! You restored my confidence back.. I was so depressed feeling why am I not able to read the big robbins efficiently. So now I know I am not alone phew!
I read what corresponds to lecture notes. I have used both the Basic Robbins and the Big Robbins. I don't read the whole chapter because there isn't enough time. I read about the diseases covered in my lectures. I then make Anki cards to review the material from the lecture notes and include details from reading as extras in my cards along with pictures of diseases to help it get into my head. Sometimes I forget after the fact, but I know it for my exam. This is for my grad program I am in now btw, but I am sure it could be used in med school.
Thanks!
Thanks for your advice man! Just about to start up path and this is all good info to know now.
Amazing review bro! Great channel, great study methods, great hints and great books! Keep it up. Greetings from Brazil.

Helloo..i would like to ask how did you study for second year? Apparently my seniors said it is difficult to pass second year and is the most crucial year.. thanks
I will forever shout from the rooftops: "PATHOMA!!!!"
Hi! thank you so much for all the recommendations Doc. very clear!, but i must tell you that i didn´t find the title of pathoma in booksmedicos(a page to download books) for example, If you have "Pathoma" in PDF, Could you please pass it on to me?
Thanks for the tips! Is BRS Pathology high yield for medical board exams?
Have you tried to study from BRS pathology it kind of low in details but good if you Dont have the time to study
haha . Thanks for the info . i like it and i have that medium robin pathology . i hope i could grab some more like the fundamental one . it seems like helping you a lot .
Could u recommend a good pathophysiology textbook? Im stuck between mosby and lange :/
Thanks for the video. I failed my final pathos exam for the third time yesterday. Need to step up my game... Though times.
Im reading from medium robbin but the old 8th edition is big different from 9th robbim ?
Hi there! I studied all pathoma and Goljan, both book and audio.. I'm thinking about reading medium or big robbins.. but I do not think that after all these books, audio & vid I miss any info.. what do u think?
I wish that "medium" Robbins had existed when I was in school. In stead, way back then, even (big) Robbins was considered by the professors to be somewhat lacking.
They supplemented the information with several hundred pages of "hand-outs". Each was a masterpiece.
Where could I get a book of test questions of Robins and Cotran ?
hey i am a rising ms2 here, have found your study tips very helpful, could you make a video for immunology or briefly describe how you approached it?
you are SOOOOOO HELPFULL do you study all these
Which book would you recommend for cytopathology ?
So which book of these would you advice us to use for the USMLE? I didn't catch that part quite well. Or is this all for the USMLE?
What is the best study resource for usmle step 1 genetics ?
Hello, I have a question i think you may be able to answer, I plan to travel to less fortunate places on humanitarian trips to help the sick. but i dont necessarily plan on getting into the medical field (or atleast that deep) what classes or information should I get for my specific need?( w/o ending up being thousands in debt) thanks in advance. love the videos.
Pathoma is a wonderful review indeed
Thank you!
should've listened to this in the beginning of the semester x|
Hi dude. Thanks for that detailed explanation. I would like you to tell me what is the last Pathoma edition and where may I find it in paperback.
Roger Fernandez Abigantud you can find it on pathoma.com for $85 and access to all the videos, which is very great because you can start watching the videos while you wait for the text to ship (if you live outside the US like me)
Thanks a lot for the video..
Cat is awesome...
Thank you sir! 🙏😳
simply excellent words
I know this will sound funny to ask...since I'm still in high school. But how many "classes" do you have to take each year? and will the schedule be something like…one class a day…kind of? Thanks so much!
You are awesome Bro!!!
whats the difference between robbins basic pathology edition 9 blue and the nine edition thats purple
do you know where i can find other kaplan videos here in youtube? The one I'm subscribed to before had been banned d/t copyright infringement
Sir could u tell me wtz de correct name of tat small robbinz ,is it enough for final examz??
Try to be specific. Read high yield topics from pathoma, medium robbins plus past exam papers. Focus more on diagnosis(morphology, lab, basic signs and symptoms etc) and you are done.No need to go into groosome details in Robbins. And one think more, avoid nerds as much as you can
What can you say on obstetrics and gynecology? Seems other students find it hard, giving some monopoly vibes against other subjects.
hey doc ,wana tell u that ua videos are such a high yield ! thanks for helping med students out a big tym !! :))myself being a third year med student want to kno abt the high yield books in surgery , internal medicine, gyne and obs , paeds ! thanking u in anticipatn !!
Is there any site like pathoma for pharmacology micro and forensic??
so I finished my first pathology course reading only from big Robbins not knowing that a medium Robbins exists! no wonder why I was cursing Pathology and thinking that it is a very complex subject!!! :D
Big Robbins :-( got me scarred but God it is the best book ever for Path :-)
Totally agree with you on the medium robbins.. love that book! EVERYONE here reads the big one though :P im definitely gonna stick to medium after your review!
Could you please do a review on Time Management as well please? That would be a big booster
How do I get the pathoma book
can u suggest books for pathophysiology.?plz
Can you do a video on the Recourses for pharmacology?
Someone pleaee twll me where can i find pathoma lectures?
ur very helpful..man...i have now 2nd year in mbbs as u know there are many subjects in 2nd yr ... please tell me which books r easy to understood... especially pathology
That cat is hilarious!
what about muirs textbook does any one recommend it?
I am third year medical student we study pathology in this year and I found muirs more interesting to me what do u gyes think
What are your thoughts on pocket Robbins? (aka baby/fetus Robbins)
awesome video :D your kitten is the cutest!
Please how can I get my hands on the fundamental of pathology...pathoma
Try doing some of the questions in a Qbank -- Robbins, Kaplan, or Uworld...see how you do. If you're scoring well, then I think you could just keep doing questions and learn from all the explanations. If you gone through both books, you're in very good shape.
I've read 6 chapters from big robbins twice, even though you forget stuff the understanding of the greater concept remains.
What do you guys think about Rubins?
