  • This is another disjointed, ad hoc discussion of the two choices for autopilot menu and some practice with using the flight director. I really ought to script these things....

Appreciate you doing these videos and especially for taking the extra effort to ensure we can follow as you are working the efs. Motivates me to keep learning this stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to do this for us.Sounds good and the close camera is great. The no heet still does not make sense to me. Has to be a bad thermostat or something. Next time I pull my cowling off I'm going to take pictures. It's no fun to be cold.
    Thanks again

    Hello Dave,
Been watching your channel for a quite a while now!
    Love your videos!
    (It’s Acquired taste!)
Very informative! And I have learned so much from watching what you’ve put out here!
But, in this one, felt like you missed several of your signature steps!
You didn’t have or mention your constant Oil Temp Checks? ( you didn’t mention them?). Or your run up? (Non existent? Maybe you did it off camera?). or your triple canopy checks? I’ve come to depend on!
    Love your videos!
    Stay safe my friend!!!

There is a somewhat embarrassing reason for some of the parts I edited out. While sitting there waiting to be ready to go, I went on a bit of a rant over the antisocial/cavalierly negligent behaviour of another hangar tenant. It really wasn't appropriate or on-topic for the video. Ironically, the very same behavior occurred again half an hour later.

Question. I like your panel setup. I am getting ready to upgrade from a D180 and Garmin 496 to the D1000. Pretty much the same set up you have. After having it awhile is there anything you would change, dislike ? Thanks KAPF

Have you ever thought about adding a second screen to your dynon system?

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  4 года назад

I would love to have a second screen but I would also have to replace the first screen. The RV-12 doesn’t have a huge power budget to begin with, and the early Skyviews drew more power than the newer ones. There just isn’t enough power for a second one without having to replace the original.

how do you have access to your ipad via the dynon does it have blue tooth?

    • @RV6Pilot

There is a WiFi dongle that can be bought from Dynon. That allows ForeFlight to link in with the Dynon. There are probably other uses for it, but I only seem to ever use it with ForeFlight. As far as I know, there is no bluetooth link.

well I learned some snippets, and i am glad I watched but I will need to find something step by step to get how it actually works.. I am a total rube, I only use my AP for flying level to a destination when i want to get a cup of coffee or eat something otherwise i am on the stick. I really like to fly the plane, not so much into the gaming world and flying an AP is kinda like a game on a screen to me at least. Oh yeah I almost never fly straight. I am like a bird up down and banked. Yes they told me I am abnormal, guess they are right.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with hand-flying - I do it all the time. I suspect most of my flights are direct-to also. It’s quite a sweet plane for just flying around for fun. I use the autopilot mostly to allow me to pay attention to other things on cross-countries. And to be honest, I think it’s fun.

Sort of. I have it set to go to north up at 30+ miles range. That way Canada is always where it’s supposed to be.
