The first time I watched an episode of you talking about electrical and watts and loads and whatnots in a van I remember it was like listening to someone speaking a different language. Watching this episode today made me realize how much I have learned this year and I'm so excited to actually understand what the bloop you're talking about AND actually get excited with you! Love the set up for your dad! What a great way to use a sponsorship for others. I hope to do that for others someday as well! Wow…. Great stuff. That was really a treat to watch. Well done. Your dad and I have a lot in common. I am on my 6th van. My first was a bus tho. I have a 1987 Westy. Took a year to find and it’s the cleanest one I’ve owned. I surf and shape boards, but foam. HA. I saw a hockey stick in the background…. I have been coaching Hockey for 20 years. Also, coach a HS surf team. LOVE the wooden twin-fin. Love the van. Loved the video… Thanks the the entertainment. ✌🏼

Here is a small tip if you want to use induction for cooking: Vango make a camping specific induction hob. Most induction hobs flicker high power on and off to simulate different power levels. This is really hard on your inverter and you end up wasting a lot of power. The Vango hob holds steady power at the requested watt output. This is better for your Inverter and uses less power.
I'm going to look into this. I really dislike the flickering power aspect

BTW,
I have found that a low sheen water based urethane Alkyd paint is very good for the cabinets here in California. Our types of paint choices are a total bummer. Alkyds stick like glue to most surfaces.

Great to see your Dad using a mask when he's sawing, but where ate his safety glasses! My ex-husband got a nail in his eye from a nail gun he was using, and trust me, nobody wants that! Beautiful build you guys!🥰

Levi, you might find that you need to connect those two lines together. Usually when you do a heater core bypass on a vehicle you loop them back together as to not interrupt the flow, but that also depends whether it is a constant flow circuit or can be blocked by a heater valve. Otherwise cool project! Love the father-son dynamic!
Not in this instance. You can check out some cooling line diagrams online for the Vanagons. If I connected them in a loop it would a lower the amount of hot coolant making it to the front heater. You can buy a $15 kit that replaces the two T’s for this loop with straight pieces. We just haven’t ordered it yet.

Great video and exactly what I’m looking to do with my Tintop carat Vanagon. Can you please list the 12v items used that are mounted under the driver/pass seats before the wiring runs back to the Jackery? Which gage of wire is used? Also is there an easy way to send a trickle charge back from the jackery or solar to the 12v starter battery (or is this already in place)? Thx!

What kind of relay/isolater type and configuration did you use for this project ?

Love the video though I am curious why you didn't loop the coolant lines instead of capping them off? Will capping them off cause any issues with flow?
Looping them would create a feedback loop to early in the system. It would loose heat at the front of the cab if I did that.

I cut up the original jackery adapers to make my own with SAE PLUGS to go in and out of the westy. Pretty simple to customized if you know what you want

Price correlates with battery size. They have smaller sized options as well. Just less overall power

I am looking at the same setup. I see Go westy sells an outside solar pug has a 2-pin SAE plug with 10AWG wires. Is there a way to connect that to the Jackery solar panel plug ? Does it require an adapter ? or does it plug right into it ?
I cut the jackery adapter in half so it could be used with an SAE in the middle

What gauge wire did you use and how did u wire up the VSR to the jackery?
12 awg. This size needs to be spec’d for whatever output your alternator is able to give, so just be mindful of that.
