Would love a lupus friendly routine. I am a cystic acne/lupus sufferer on a skincare journey to reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone.

I’m sure Cassandra will respond to you but I just thought I’d say hi and that I’m also a lupus sufferer and cystic acne sister too. 👋🏻😊
I can’t speak for everyone of us ofcourse but the only thing that helps my cystic acne (and prevent as many lupus flare ups) is being on the contraception pill, because it balances my hormones it also helps balance inflammation in my body to reduce as many lupus flare ups as possible.
I’ve tried going off the pill but it never works for very long. 😩 retinol (Paula’s choice) and niacinamide serum (the ordinary) on my jawline do control some of the cystic acne when I’m not on the pill and they both smash away the pigmentation left by our lupus rashes. But If you want a soothing slower solution (without actives) to the pigmentation issue I find snail mucin from cosrx and K beauty moisturisers with centella asiatica in it very healing and soothing & alpha arbutin serum lightening. Snail mucin heals cuts the snail gets from sliding on rough surfaces so it speeds up our healing skin too I’ve noticed. I use it even on my fresh lupus rashes and it’s so soothing then I cover it with the ceramide cream from cosrx, the combo of them both calms the rash down so quickly.
Hope this made sense. I wish there was a medication free route but the pill (Diane 35 ED) has been the only thing to help both my cystic acne and stop as many lupus flare ups 😩💜

@Annointed peal. What are you talking about? I’m simply sharing my experience. And no a transplant doesn’t mean she won’t have any further problems lupus is a life long disease. Inform yourself!

I have autoimmune issues and had cystic acne. I was on Accutane twice. 😭
My skin seems to love oils like herbivore lapis, elf CBD oil. I also use truly CBD jelly anti blemish serum. I also get triggers by things I eat. If I eat fatty fried food, I will break out.
Diet is important for maintaining healthy skin. Sometimes anti inflammatory diets have been effective to help both autoimmune and acne. I would talk to your doctor and ask what’s right for you.
I hope you find what works for you. I know it’s hard having a chronic illness. 💕

@@rebeccamarie4065 😮 I’ve heard great things about cbd. I’ve heard accutane can be rough 😩 I’m glad you found what works for you, I have to try cbd. I definitely agree about the anti inflammatory diets. For me anything starchy like bread or pasta breaks me out bad 😫 I’ll definitely check out the herbivore line. 💜

@@Chloe__________xx I am not sure if you can get a bottle still, but Ipsy had the lapis herbivore for $18 instead of $72.
Accutane was so horrible. My skin peeled and my lower back hurt so bad.
I took it in my teens and I’m 30 now. My skin is just starting to settle down. I use to think oils would break me out more, but its been amazing.
I use it under makeup and it keeps me from breaking out. It’s like a layer that doesn’t let the makeup in my pores.
I hope you find what works for you.

8:25 Tatcha isnt necessarily J-Beauty. The founder isnt even Japanese, shes Taiwanese. Its just J-Beauty inspired and from what I know is that not many people in Japan know about the brand, considering there arent any Sephoras there. Tatcha isnt a Japanese owned and created brand, it's a Japanese inspired, American Skincare brand.

    • @Chloe__________xx

100% and there’s so many more effective and affordable Japanese & Korean brands than tatcha. Tatcha is just overhyped by celebrities. Like yes it’s amazing but they just haven’t delved further into j beauty or k beauty to see there’s better out there (and without the fragrance too) take the enzyme powder wash for example it’s $$$ but the srb rice powder enzyme wash is far better and under $15.

      From their homepage:
One morning in 2009, Vicky Tsai woke up and said, “I choose happiness.” A decade of working in corporate America had left her disillusioned, and suffering from acute dermatitis that required daily steroids and antibiotics. A Taiwanese-American, she unexpectedly found herself in Kyoto, where she encountered a culture of harmony, beauty, and well-being that healed her from skin to soul. Months from becoming a mother, Vicky eagerly studied the natural Japanese ingredients and timeless rituals that transformed her skin. Alongside a team of scientists, geisha, and cultural advisors, from Kyoto to San Francisco, she began a learning journey that continues to this day. Tatcha is a celebration of the wisdom and wonders learned along the way.

From a Lupus Survivor (now in remission-f&cing hooray!), having Lupus defined in such digestible lay-terms and explaining why sun protection and maintaining/working toward a stable and positive place with mental health is so amazing to see. Lupus is one of those “invisible diseases” where you can suffer like heck and people will doubt and question you. “You have arthritis? But you’re not old.” “You couldn’t walk last night or turn your head? Are you sure you’re not just trying to get attention?” It’s soooooo nice to have a skinfluencer marry science/medicine/and normal everyday speech to explain a very little known and barely understood, potentially fatal disease that affects mostly women of color. Truly appreciate you breaking it down. I’ve never seen it explained so well in a way a regular person (who doesn’t know anyone with an auto-immune disease) can understand! Mahalo nui loa!!
re: Tatcha: J-Beauty??? Nah. It is inspired by traditional Japanese culture and ingredients sourced there. They were Asian-American founded and owned until Unilever bought the company in 2019-aka it WAS Asian American Woman-owned but now is owned by a non-cruelty-free conglomerate that sells products in mainland China. To be clear on ingredients, Tatcha worked with scientists in both Japan and the US to formulate their products, but I’m not sure how much of their manufacturing and R&D still utilizes the same methods under Unilever vs when Ms. Tsai was still the sole owner of the line.

Thank you for talking about autoimmune diseases! I myself have one (Ulcerative Colitis) and it can be so hard for people to understand because they don't see anything physically wrong with you. I also have a strong suspicion that I may have Lupus as well (many matching symptoms including the red butterfly face) but fighting with my doctor is not always a battle I have the energy to fight.
I really give Selena credit for being so open about invisible illnesses, and you as well, allowing others to be educated on how debilitating they can be.

I would actually Really appreciate an anti inflammatory skin care routine/regimen done by Cassandra.
On top of Medication, exercise and a healthy anti inflammatory diet, I can see how inflammatory or benign skin care could be helpful and important for maintaining the best overall bodily health we can. After all your skin is your largest organ!
I hope she Cassandra does consider making a video for us.

    • @eduardaarrais
      @eduardaarrais 2 года назад +8

I use it on pimples I popped. I learned this tip from that dermatologist? Sean? 🤔 I can't remember his name 😂 he was debunking myths and said this one was a mix of both fact and myth. The toothpaste won't heal your wound or help with scarring or treat your acne, but since toothpaste has antibacterial ingredients it will stop the bacterias from spreading to other areas of the skin. Down side is it stings because of the menthol, good side is the menthol sorta puts your skin to sleep and you stop feeling pain. I always leave it on for about 20mim and next morning the pimple is on its way to healing instead of being full and inflamed again.
Do pimple patches do the same or better? I wouldn't know as I haven't tried it yet, but I'm happy with this easy and accessible trick 😂

selena is the only person I'm ok with when people are being biased about when talking about her products because she's a very amazing woman. it's hard to separate her from her works and even if her products are not the best, her character that goes within the process of creating rare beauty is too powerful and inspiring it doesn't let me dislike it

I work at SpaceNK which sells tatcha and we had a brand rep come round to teach us more about the brand. The founder isn’t Japanese but all the ingredients are sourced from Japan and they are made in Japan. It was inspired by the Japanese forest meditation technique, which is where it’s name is from (the sound of breathing in and out), the founder vicky experienced the relaxing spa like feel from her Japanese retreat she went on whilst pregnant with her first child and at the time she had dermatitis on her face so she was inspired to make a spa like relaxing brand that pregnant women can use as well as being effective for skin conditions like dermatitis or eczema and for any women who want their skincare to sit perfectly under makeup. In conclusion despite the brand owner not actually being Japanese the brand is still considered a Japanese brand.

Selena did say her body breaks out in hives if she gets too much sunlight. There's some pictures of her with fans where she does have the butterfly rash(which is nice of her to still take pics with them!) It explains why she's usually so pale now in comparison to before when paps always caught her sunbathing. I guess sunlight triggers her skin issues and now that she avoids it, she doesn't get those rashes anymore.

As someone with Lupus, it is so exciting to see it being talked about on here. Selena is such a wonderful spokes person for SLE, as she not only talks about it openly, but she also still continues to live a successful life. So many people seem to see lupus as a life sentence, & when I’m having a bad day it can be tempting to just give up and decide I need to quit work, stay home, & live off a pension for the rest of my life. People like Selena remind me, & everyone else going through this, that there’s no need for it to be a life sentence!

This is the best explanation for lupus I’ve heard. 😂 I have systemic and the rare blood clotting form. I explain it similar I tell people in a healthy person if they have a car accident and a piece of glass enters their wound their body protect itself and form a clot around that piece of glass to reduce risk of injury of that glass slicing you up because it recognises “hey you’re foreign you don’t belong here”. Where as in a person with lupus it’s own antibodies they don’t recognise they’re family & they think they’re foreign so they attack their own crew for no reason not realising they’re family 😂 so I tell people my bloods antibodies a bit “special” 😂
