I was 13 turned 14 during the 2010 World Cup and despite the issues with ball, this was my favourite Worl Cup. Barely remember the 2006 World Cup and was only like 5-6 for the 2002 World Cup. The ball was an issue though like you said. When playing with it in school, me and my friends would complain because of the unpredictability of it when striking.
The young Germany side was by far the most exciting in the tournament. Everyone thought they would be a disaster without Ballack, but a young Müller and Özil showed everyone levels
They also played the best football in that tournament. However Spain was still too strong. In 2014 when Germany won the whole thing they also got a little bit lucky. Compared to 2010 a lot of players did not have their best form.
@@davinnicode yeah Spain absolutely dominated them, but then again they only lost by one goals and Müller was out with yellow cards so who knows what could have happened. South Africa 2010 was my first taste of football and what made it the first sport i ever got into, being a young 6 year old American seeing Donovan's last minute goal against Algeria pulled me in and I'm never gonna stop loving this game because of it
I was 9 year old American and that last minute Donovan did similar to me too I remember watching the 2006 World Cup a bit, but I didn’t understand much (and the US sucked) but the 2010 World Cup came at the perfect time for me to get hooked on soccer

I was 10, supporting my country Brazil, I was só confident because every one was saying that we are the only won with 5 stars and we were winning all games. I cryed like a baby when we lost 2-1 against Netherlands after a amazing first half with a penalty in Kaka that the referee didn't see. @@foxiflakes8245 Same I only 2 at the time time of 06 but I followed all other cups prior to that. Enjoyed watching Spain in 2010. Broke me when my fav player lost the final in 2014 etc.
Your critics are based on big teams struggling but ignoring the bigger picture The 2010 world cup brought people around the world to Africa to learn about African culture and South Africa did a hell of job teaching people about African culture And for me as a 6 year old boy at the time was introduced to football The South African World Cup had plenty of flaws But in terms of energy, vibe and passion it compares to non. It provide a platform that now European teams look to Africans for talent.
I've been alive for 8 world cups and watched 6 of them, and 2010 is by far my most memorable. For us Africans, this was our opportunity to showcase ourselves to the world and we took that opportunity with both hands. The build-up to the tournament was INTENSE. I remember the day of the opening match, I was at university and the whole atmosphere was like the holidays had started, you could feel the excitement in the air. The whole month was a festival. Wakawaka, Wavin' Flag, Sign of a Victory, Oh Africa etc. were played on repeat, and they still rock. You had sponsor events and promotions and big screens and prizes to be won... it was an unforgettable month. Of course not all things went well. I was disappointed by the performance of our African sides, only one made it past the group stage. The football wasn't thaaaat great, lots of great players underperformed, there were lots of empty seats even for knockout matches, and the jabulani wrecked havoc (although not as much as the video makes it out to be). Unfortunately for us here in Tanzania, the final was ruined for us watching on national television because it coincided with the ruling party's national assembly which was nominating the candidate for the presidency for the national election later that year. The event was being shown live, and by the time the final had kicked off, the event had not concluded. So much that the president had to ask for the festivities to be cut short to allow the match to be shown. So we joined some 30 mins after the final started, with no pre-match analysis, no team news, and having missed De Jong's kung-fu kick.
South African World Cup to me was the first World Cup that truly showcased the host as much as the game. The fact we still hear vuvuzaelas all these years later show how much of South Africa’s culture has become part of the game’s fan culture.
I wasn't saying that made it bad, I was saying it gave European nations the excuse of saying the tournament was of poor quality, I understand what you're saying though 👍
Know your history and study the game. Look back at previous world cups. 1962, 70, 74, 82, 86, 94 and 06 there's so many to choose from. Just cus we weren't around for them doesn't mean they don't count. The game is about more than picking you're own memories as the best cus that's all we know. It's called the beautiful game for a reason and it's something that can only be shown or understood but not explained. Fill your mind with knowledge of the things you like.
FIFA also decided they needed to rotate between each continent, so South Africa was really the only country in Africa that could handle it in summer. This is the same group that decided playing in Qatar in June/July would be fine because they couldn't bother checking the temperatures while counting their bribes.
@@michaelwalker7400 so what it takes a thieve to steal from a thieve maybe a bribe was required to get this thing over the line so a different nation can host the world cup and it don't matter cause the world cup is here as a fact and its just a way the west operate even in the game agentina had against Saudi Arabia u see the ref wanted Argentina to score it was clear as day I'm not Muslim I'm in uk and Cristian I not bias and I don't like lbgtq these people are brainwashed by the devil

As a young South African (8) I was gutted that we were the first host nation in history to fail to make it through the group stages but whenever I spoke about it with other people they didn't care as much about that and were just glad that they were entertained in every other aspect.
At the time I felt the same. These days I mostly just remember how awesome that month was and proud that SA managed to host the tournament, mostly without a hitch.
Well at least y'all played with pride and got some results. South Africa v Mexico might literally have been the first ever game of football I ever watched in my life, and I was extremely inspired by how South Africa played that game, and I was so happy to see Tshabalala's amazing goal (also the first goal I saw in my life) and what it meant to everyone there.
Watching Spain was great in my opinion. It was a such a unique and refreshing brand of football at the time. I disagree that their success is owed to the Jabulani considering they still wiped the floor with all opposition in Euro 2012.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup was our country's happiest and most optimistic atmosphere since the dawn of democracy. I doubt we'll ever be able to replicate that level of ecstacy at a national level again. I will forever cherish those moments, I'll tell my grandkids about it when I am old. I am glad FIFA allowed us to keep the vuvuzelas, they are part of how we enjoyed football long before hosting the World Cup.
How do giants like Italy and France getting eliminated in the group stage make this World Cup bad? Football is exciting that way you don't know what's gonna happen
Literally 2002 did the same thing France won 1998 and didn’t got out of the group an 2002 same with Argentina who were also favorites too also France World Cup qualifier an 2010 France won because of hand ball play off too go to the World Cup so they got lucky 😂
I mean maybe we have different definitions of the word cheat but did he not get the red card because he cheated by using his hand? Understand your point though
@@HITCFootball Henry cheated because he was sneaky and got away with it. Maradona cheated. Suarez knew he would be caught. He did try to cheat a lot with all the biting though. Lol
Suarez made a calculated decision. He wasn’t being sneaky, it was tactical. I wanted Ghana but I thought it was a brilliant calculated risk and frankly not as uncommon as you would think. I have seen many center backs intentionally take reds to avoid an almost certain goal at the end of the game. Cheating is using PEDs or intentionally deceiving an official a la Maradona or Henry.
Suarez cheated, that's why he received a red card as punishment. You have to play by the rules. If you cheat, you will receive a penalty in the form of a free kick, yellow card, spot kick, or even a red card. Right?
@@leonfeargus incorrect. Suarez and the officials followed the rules. Fouls are often tactical and I don’t know an official who would argue that. Maradona cheated, he was not punished and even denied it during the game. Henry cheated, he escaped punishment and the laws of the game. Suarez followed the rules and so did the officials. American football, basketball, hockey, all have what we call professional fouls. If you are following the rules, that means accepting the consequences that come with them, without endangering the safety of anyone, then it is not cheating. Now you could argue the ethics of such a decision, just like tax write offs etc, but you can’t argue the legality of it. I think you have a problem with the ethics and what you personally believe is in the spirit of the game. I would have agreed with you 10 years ago but as I learned more and experienced more, I can appreciate it as a gamble. Remember, Ghana still had every chance in the world to score from the penalty spot, but they failed. They were provided with their own opportunity per the laws of the game and came up short.
I wanna think about the Suárez incident - if you were representing your country and you knew you would lose if you didn't intervene, I think most would do what he did. The rules were followed and it's a bitter, bitter shame Ghana didn't go through doe smh
yeah no one can really say ghana was eliminated through cheating as a penalty was rightfully awarded and suarez was rightfully sent off - ghana was eliminated because 1: gyan missed the pen and 2: uruguay was more competent than ghana in the penalty shoot-out
It also isn't cheating in any sense of the word, so its very weird how so many people call it that. With their logic any penalty given is cheating, which is ludicrous. Also it ignores that the incident comes from a phony foul given to Ghana by the ref AND one of the attackers was also offside, which would make the whole play null before it ever got to Suarez.
Spot on. Imo, it's only cheating if you try & get away with it. Zero difference between what Suarez did & a defender deliberately fouling someone in midfield to stop a counter-attack.
Honestly this was also my first World Cup but with everything going on in and around this one I think it made it even more unforgettable, all the good and bad.
The 2010 WC was the first international tournament I remember, my dad was a photographer for Getty Images during that tournament, and being South African, it was a special moment all around. I was 5, and even today, its one of my favourite tournaments, but I won't lie, this opened my eyes past the nostalgia. I went back and watched some matches and it was a lot more boring than I remember, but its still my favourite no doubt
I just watched a few videos for the world cup in Qatar and all I see is people bashing south Africa for the 2010 world cup. That's alot of BS. You can only blame South Africa for the following: 1. Did we give you bad stadiums and pitches 2. Did we give bad accommodations 3. Did we mistreat you as guests 4. Did we give you bad roads and transport 5. Did we give you bad food I guess the issue of vuvuzela is left to individual preference. As country we hosted the world cup well but we cant control how the teams perform on the pitch. If you look at the score lines as boring then it's not the host nation's problem. Take a chill pill, jeez. Some of the comments are just funny
The Jabulani also allowed for some absolute screamers in that tournament. The Spain side as well wasn’t considered boring at the time, it wasn’t until 2012 where they insisted on playing without a striker that it became suffocatingly boring. Although the 08 squad with peak Torres and Villa was probably the best one. For me though, it was the 2014 World Cup that was truly the incredible one. 06 had the better final but pretty much every game was incredible with some amazing goals and ‘that’ match with Germany and Brazil. 2010 doesn’t hold a candle to it.

That England - Algeria match remains one of the worst games of football I've ever seen. Absolutely miserable to watch, neither side even troubling the goal for 90 minutes. My dad and I had a "lucky hat" that one of us would wear during every England game. After that match, we took it outside and set it on fire.

Great if you’re Spain, Germany, Japan, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ghana, Netherlands, New Zealand, Serbia or Switzerland. Awful if you’re France, Italy, or England. Or Croatia who didn’t even make it.
Forgot to mention Tevez offside goal against Mexico. First time they showed a replay inside a stadium in real time. Everyone knew it was not a goal but it had to stand. 😅
As a South African I’ll put my perspective on this *1.* A lot of World Cups before us happened due to corrupt bids(also after us)it wasn’t just us, also unfortunately football in Africa and corruption has always been hand in hand…so as not only a South African but also an African I can tell you we feel no shame or guilt over it as that’s how you get things done in our continent sadly. It’s far better than using blood money from shady business ventures to bid for a WC only to treat migrant workers inhumanely and commit multiple human rights violations (*cough* Qatar *cough*) *2.* The Jabulani was a flawed ball but it forced people to play football more tactically, and increased the importance of each touch, each pass, each free kick and each corner. The ball being chaotic was able to draw on the emotions of the fans and create tense atmospheres…essentially by making the game harder it made it more entertaining *3.* As flawed as the ball was it definitely wasn’t the main reason why England, France and Italy stunk it up those teams were dysfunctional nightmares *4.* What you call “boring football” I call tactical masterclass, every movement was more purposeful and each game felt more like a chess match, it was a unique experience especially in the knockout stages. Tense and equal low-scoring games are preferred to one sided high scoring one sided games in a knockout tournament. If the FIFA 2010 World Cup was a league it would be terrible, but because it’s a knockout tournament it was exhilarating *5.* The “boring football” actually brought football back to its roots, in a way I’ll say how football was way back in the day with its simple mechanisms were forcibly used in the modern day making it a one of one tournament *6.* Not one World Cup had as many storylines as the 2010 WC, the World Cup is a special tournament because it’s more than football, it’s about stories. A teenage Pele taking the footballing World by storm, a brilliant Maradona carrying then Argentinian underdogs to victory, the World Cup is a competition that thrives off of “against all odds” storylines. If anything club football is about results but international football is about the journey…that’s why 2018 Russia is the least memorable out of the modern era because it was more akin club football than international football (it felt more like a Champions League then it did a World Cup). *7.* You pointed this out but aesthetically the 2010 WC is the best regarding cultural fusion, from the music, the vuvuzela’s, the dancing, etc. Point is, I respect and understand your opinions but I disagree with them. The fact that the 2010 World Cup was so unique is what made is phenomenal not what dragged it down. You put it brilliantly by saying that “it’s flaws is what makes it good”, however I don’t see it’s happenings as “flaws” but as “strengths”.
They want every 2nd World Cup to be in Western Europe. Plus, you know Brits especially have that superiority complex like when they say, "it's coming home". It's like the rugby world cup...it makes absolutely no sense South Africa has not hosted another one yet.
@@kaygeejozee2558 you do know it's coming home is a meme right? Always has been even the writers of the song meant to make fun of constant English failures in football and highlight thier few bright sparks. That's the whole point. People who take it seriously are the ones being taken for a ride.
As a South African, I remeber all the complaints we got about our Vuvuzelas... And now, years later... Everyone says that 2010 WC had the best atmosphere
I partly agree, Spain the winners basically had a team of half real madrid and half barca with a few exceptions. They scored 1 goal in every game from round of 16 to the final and only won one game with more than a goal margin against Honduras. Not to mention their scorers came from only 3 players only. Their euro 2008 and 2012 teams were very diverse and scored more on the other hand and i preferred those teams
6:43 if you watch the Brazil vs Netherlands game from the 2010 World Cup quarterfinal, Brazil were all over the Netherlands in the first half. But then Netherlands equalised and the defence never recovered and Felipe Melo's petulance cost them. And Germany came into the tournament with like house money. They went into their tournament with their best and most experienced player Michael Ballack sidelined, and we did not really know what to expect from some of their younger talents like Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller, etc.
Ballack was no where near his best during the time of the 2010 world cup. He was barely starting matches at Chelsea due to injury, age was catching up with him. In fact Germany actually played better without Ballack than they did with him as it allowed new players like Muller and Ozil to flourish. Also you are forgetting Germany was missing several players during the semis against Spain, they were without Lahm and Muller (arguably their best player at that time)
@@RonaldLil well I dont know what you mean by Germany was playing better without Ballack. Because nobody really expected Germany to play that well with the young sqaud that they had. @@tashrif46 they were playing better without Ballack because as you mentioned his absence allowed new generation of players like Müller and Ozil to flourish. Being Uruguayan, this was the best World Cup that I ever saw. Never again saw people that happy about football in my country, there were huge gatherings at the capital city downtown. As for the people who believe we cheated, Ghana was awarded a penalty, and they missed.
@@captainfalconmain6576 he was too young to have such a hot take like that and criticize it. Simple as that. Football is a universal game , played in every country on this planet. The vuvuzelas , songs ,music are all part of South Africa and African culture. It was an exceptional world cup ,yes it was different but thats how every world cup should be.
Okay, we need to stop this Suarez villain bullshit, Suarez committed a foul, risking his place in the next round for his country, a hero, now the foul was seen, he was given a red card and a penalty was given, it's not his fault Ghana missed, he didn't cheat, he committed a foul and was penalized, Ghana still had a whole penalty shooyout and lost, how is that Suarez fault???
I was 9, so this was kinda the 1st World Cup I could kinda comprehend and take all in, so it holds a special place in my heart and I have a bias for it, so yes it’s my favorite World Cup to this day
You forgot to mention that the only unbeaten team in the competition never made it past the group stage which was New Zealand who had three draws in pool play
if i'm not mistaken, new zealand is, of the teams that have participated in at least one world cup, the only one to have never lost a world cup match lmao
I remember it being a marvellous WC. The only annoyances were the generally awful free kicks, because the ball was badly designed, and those atrocious vuvuzelas. Lots of memorable games, some really great teams, and I'd been supporting, albeit as a non Spaniard, the side that won the tournament.
Conclussion is simple. There is no such thing as a perfect World Cup. Each one of them had its flaws and advantages. And if few things don't work, other do so perfectly. And sometimes football side of the WC is great and at the same time organisation and fan side is terrible. We should remember and try to continue positive sides of every tournament and eliminate the wrong sides, so they would not occur in the future. And I hope we'll never forget amazing 2010 World Cup, with all its flaws and drawbacks
Its really annoying to see people still call the Suarez incident cheating when a penalty was given immediately and he was sent off. Also lets not forget the fact that the play shouldn't even have happened in the first place since it came from a free kick out of a non-existent foul AND the Ghana attackers were offside when the free kick was taken. Plays like that are literally part of the game, but if thats cheating then any penalty given is cheating. If thats cheating the beloved "tactical foul" that for example City uses constantly is also cheating, since its intentionally breaking the rules to get an advantage and prevent scoring oportunities for the opponent. By that logic any foul is cheating.
Absolutely correct. I remember at the time being furious that that free kick was given, and that Uruguay were penalised in spite of the fact that the ball should have been ruled not in play. Ghana got the unfair advantage with a late penalty, and it was justice that they never scored from it.
2010 is a strange one I think it was so many peoples first world cup so I think that's a reason why it's looked back favorably for me having a south African dad it's truly the only time I seen him show true national pride I've never seen him celebrate something even when they won the world cup in rugby as much as he celebrated that world cup but for me I just didn't enjoy it it was like you said a strange time in football it was ushering out of the old in with the new for not just teams but tactical idiolgies refereeing systems whole game was moving in different directions so certain matches you had styles that mixed like oil and water but the tournament had it's moments that are truly unforgettable and that's kind of what the tiktok age looks for that quick fix that moment rather then watch the full game so you can see why that world cup appeals to them was full of screamers and all but in reality for every game that was truly decent for the full game there was 7 or 8 that were near unwatchable it's also the worst final of all them by some distance But off pitch aside everyone who attended the world cup out of people I know have nothing but praise for it my uncle who's gone to every tournament Englands been in since 98 except 02 he said there was just something magic about SA tournament even though 360 minutes of football England played was absolutely shit he still absolutely loved it so where does it rank is all subjective in what you look for in football similar to how I think some will talk about this one it'll divide opinion
All world cups had their controversies and most of them were also bribed for, it's just that it was well covered up but having considered all 2010 world cup really delivered totally beautiful, entertaining, rich in culture, unpredictability
I've watched all from 1986. The worst world cup was 2002 with the exception of couple of games. Reason was South Korea and Turkey to the semis, plus a bad Germany carried by Kahn to the final.
2010's host nation, South Africa, had the best cultural additions and vibes. If SA was a booming carnival Qatar and Russia are empty stretches of highway.
This tournament was the ultimate ‘vibes’ over substance World Cup It’s beloved because of things like Wavin Flag, Paul the Octopus, Jabulani, the African Fans, and Ghana doing well but being cruel robbed. For me it was a tournament where the stars really struggled. Messi and Ronaldo were practically invisible, none of the Brazilians like Kaka stood out, Rooney was awful, Eto’o’s Cameroon were poor, Ibra’s Sweden didn’t qualify, Ribery and France were crap, Drogba/Toure and the Ivory Coast got stuck in a brutal group and were poor, Gerrard + Lampard were average, Torres was a non factor. The only TOP players in the world at that point that showed up were Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, Robben, Sneijder, Schweinsteiger and Lahm. It was more a tournament for the likes of Forlan, Suarez, Muller, Higuain, Gyan Going into the tournament Spain were heavily predicted to win, which doesn’t necessarily make it a bad World Cup - provided they live up to everyone’s expectations. 4 1-0s in the KO just felt under whelming. They didn’t blow teams away or wow you with their football, and you never really felt like they were at risk. The final as well was a tough watch because the Dutch, who had been an excited team, just resorted to kicking the Spanish and playing to hit them on the counter (almost worked). It’s says everything that the only thing people remember from the 90 was De Jong’s kung fu kick. The 3 world cups that followed were unquestionably better in terms of on pitch product and drama. 2006 is a close one but I’d give that the narrow edge because at least entering the KO there were about 6/7 teams you felt could win it. 2002 I barely remember but at least that had some shocks, the shocks in this tournament was just teams being complete frauds and going home in the groups. My ranking of World Cups I’ve seen would be 2022, 2014, 2018, 2006, 2002, 2010.
I was 6 when I saw the 2010 world cup and remember it clear as day. My friends and I loved the spanish team and pretended to be them during our soccer games.
On the night of the final, there was a huge music festival here in Ireland called oxegen. They showed the final half of extra time on the big screen of the main stage! Close to 100,000 drunk Irish people going absolutely nuts when Spain scored! Then Eminem played for 2 and a half hours and even D12 came out and played with him too! One of the greatest experiences of my life! Also I'm Gay
To say the German side was not good to support the own argument is understandable but completely false. And you talk to much about the Jabulani and give it too much meaning for me.
Some ESPN world cup edition of 2010 perfectly described how each nation will come into the world cup. I was excited to see that group of Netherlands, Japan, Denmark and Cameroon (most equally balanced group) memories indeed
France 98 is still the standard bearer for WC tournaments there has not been a tournament since then that has come close. The 90s was the golden era of football.
Yea I’ve always agreed, I think an often unmentioned point was the altitude of a lot of teams bases was having a draining effect on a lot players and so it meant that so many of the best stars just didn’t have a good tournament, Messi was average bar one game, Ronaldo as well, Torres looked poor, the whole England squad especially Rooney, France Italy. Although Spain did have them they didn’t perform like a team full of individuals. Forlan was a good player but respectfully if he’s winning POT it sort of tells you kind of WC it was.
@@nyantakyibannor9328 He played very well and had the best individual performance at the tournament but the fact there was plenty better footballers there and he had the best tournament is telling. The best players in the world for the most part didn’t turn up
Remember torres was never supposed to go to that world cup as he was nursing an injury at the end of that season and could've skipped the tournament to recover but he went and frankly he was never the same player after that. The 2010 world cup brought people around the world to Africa to learn about African culture and South Africa did a hell of job teaching people about African culture

The South African World Cup had plenty of flaws
But in terms of energy, vibe and passion it compares to non.

Respect 🍷🗿
It was a bad final anyways so you didn’t miss much

As a young South African (8) I was gutted that we were the first host nation in history to fail to make it through the group stages but whenever I spoke about it with other people they didn't care as much about that and were just glad that they were entertained in every other aspect.
Getting 4 points in a group with France Mexico and Uruguay is nothing to be ashamed of
At the time I felt the same. These days I mostly just remember how awesome that month was and proud that SA managed to host the tournament, mostly without a hitch.
Tbf we were so close 👏🏾 closer than we actually should have been tbh
Well at least y'all played with pride and got some results. South Africa v Mexico might literally have been the first ever game of football I ever watched in my life, and I was extremely inspired by how South Africa played that game, and I was so happy to see Tshabalala's amazing goal (also the first goal I saw in my life) and what it meant to everyone there.
Qatar is with you
Watching Spain was great in my opinion. It was a such a unique and refreshing brand of football at the time. I disagree that their success is owed to the Jabulani considering they still wiped the floor with all opposition in Euro 2012.
And Euro 2008, not wiping the floor, but playing the same brand of football. Spain was successful with it before and after Jabulani.

I loved the fact that we beat France in bloemfontein
It actually makes it good
Suárez didn't cheat. He used the rules in his favour. He got the red card and Ghana got the PK. All by the book.
Henry vs Ireland. That's cheating
Shut up soccer is boring
You can only blame South Africa for the following:
1. Did we give you bad stadiums and pitches
2. Did we give bad accommodations
3. Did we mistreat you as guests
4. Did we give you bad roads and transport
5. Did we give you bad food
I guess the issue of vuvuzela is left to individual preference.

It will be Fun to see how this upcoming 2022 World Cup is going to Pan Out ….
What do you think now haha
I think it was cool
As a South African I’ll put my perspective on this
*1.* A lot of World Cups before us happened due to corrupt bids(also after us)it wasn’t just us, also unfortunately football in Africa and corruption has always been hand in hand…so as not only a South African but also an African I can tell you we feel no shame or guilt over it as that’s how you get things done in our continent sadly. It’s far better than using blood money from shady business ventures to bid for a WC only to treat migrant workers inhumanely and commit multiple human rights violations (*cough* Qatar *cough*)
*2.* The Jabulani was a flawed ball but it forced people to play football more tactically, and increased the importance of each touch, each pass, each free kick and each corner. The ball being chaotic was able to draw on the emotions of the fans and create tense atmospheres…essentially by making the game harder it made it more entertaining
*3.* As flawed as the ball was it definitely wasn’t the main reason why England, France and Italy stunk it up those teams were dysfunctional nightmares
*4.* What you call “boring football” I call tactical masterclass, every movement was more purposeful and each game felt more like a chess match, it was a unique experience especially in the knockout stages. Tense and equal low-scoring games are preferred to one sided high scoring one sided games in a knockout tournament. If the FIFA 2010 World Cup was a league it would be terrible, but because it’s a knockout tournament it was exhilarating
*5.* The “boring football” actually brought football back to its roots, in a way I’ll say how football was way back in the day with its simple mechanisms were forcibly used in the modern day making it a one of one tournament
*6.* Not one World Cup had as many storylines as the 2010 WC, the World Cup is a special tournament because it’s more than football, it’s about stories.
We were supposed to host the 2006 World Cup, don't just talk about the corruption from us but the 2006 as well
I partly agree, Spain the winners basically had a team of half real madrid and half barca with a few exceptions. They scored 1 goal in every game from round of 16 to the final and only won one game with more than a goal margin against Honduras. Not to mention their scorers came from only 3 players only. Their euro 2008 and 2012 teams were very diverse and scored more on the other hand and i preferred those teams
This isn't spoken of more
The worst because of a ball and a bribe that has nothing to do with the event being good or bad?
For me, 2010 World Cup is when I fell in love to Football.
Hadn't America already hosted the 1994 world cup?
Cameroon had their chance to win to but blew it
Also I ageee with you
Absolutely correct. I remember at the time being furious that that free kick was given, and that Uruguay were penalised in spite of the fact that the ball should have been ruled not in play. Ghana got the unfair advantage with a late penalty, and it was justice that they never scored from it.
People saying Suarez cheatted but they are extending the meaning of the word. He broke a rule which was penalized, unlike Henry, who also didnt cheat
2010 is a strange one I think it was so many peoples first world cup so I think that's a reason why it's looked back favorably for me having a south African dad it's truly the only time I seen him show true national pride I've never seen him celebrate something even when they won the world cup in rugby as much as he celebrated that world cup but for me I just didn't enjoy it it was like you said a strange time in football it was ushering out of the old in with the new for not just teams but tactical idiolgies refereeing systems whole game was moving in different directions so certain matches you had styles that mixed like oil and water but the tournament had it's moments that are truly unforgettable and that's kind of what the tiktok age looks for that quick fix that moment rather then watch the full game so you can see why that world cup appeals to them was full of screamers and all but in reality for every game that was truly decent for the full game there was 7 or 8 that were near unwatchable it's also the worst final of all them by some distance
But off pitch aside everyone who attended the world cup out of people I know have nothing but praise for it my uncle who's gone to every tournament Englands been in since 98 except 02 he said there was just something magic about SA tournament even though 360 minutes of football England played was absolutely shit he still absolutely loved it so where does it rank is all subjective in what you look for in football similar to how I think some will talk about this one it'll divide opinion

Nah, I haven't met a person who's said that this world cup was the best. To be honest, France 98 and Brazil 2014 are way better.
❤ facts
2010's host nation, South Africa, had the best cultural additions and vibes. If SA was a booming carnival Qatar and Russia are empty stretches of highway.
This tournament was the ultimate ‘vibes’ over substance World Cup
It’s beloved because of things like Wavin Flag, Paul the Octopus, Jabulani, the African Fans, and Ghana doing well but being cruel robbed.
It was more a tournament for the likes of Forlan, Suarez, Muller, Higuain, Gyan
Going into the tournament Spain were heavily predicted to win, which doesn’t necessarily make it a bad World Cup - provided they live up to everyone’s expectations.
My ranking of World Cups I’ve seen would be
2022, 2014, 2018, 2006, 2002, 2010.
i remember watching the first world cup in Uruguay 1930, i was a teenager aged 16 , i can say that world cup was the best of all times .
How old are you ? 😏
You watch the first world cup in 1930 so you 114 years old huh
@@ronaldomontero3624 no he is 108
Dang ya old
I was 6 when I saw the 2010 world cup and remember it clear as day.
Same bro but nobody in my school gay as well. Tell me ur home we could work dis out
The 2010 was a meh WC. Full of draws and a lack of goals.
This is your best ever video, I really enjoyed it
To say the German side was not good to support the own argument is understandable but completely false.
Very well covered ! Great job!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Bro, thanks for the vid
France 98 is still the standard bearer for WC tournaments there has not been a tournament since then that has come close. The 90s was the golden era of football.
At least it's not the countries fault.
I was 8 when this happened, but I don't remember anything about it.
2010 FIFA World Cup was the best one ever!!!
Forlan was a good player but respectfully if he’s winning POT it sort of tells you kind of WC it was.
he did score five or six goals, didn't he? and his team also got to the semis just give credit where it's due.
As for thr others I agree about them underperforming. Credit to Forlan he was sensational regardless.
Personally I think the 2014 World Cup was better, there were vengeances, great goals and drama all the way to end!
I agree, the football and atmosphere matched perfectly
I've been to 6 World Cups and Qatar has been the best ever!
You should’ve have just made a video about the Jabulani ball instead. That was your only talking point😂😂
Wonderful video 🇿🇦
Glad you enjoyed it!
