I use yarrow to make 'blood stop powder'. Dry the leaves and powder them in a spice mill, strain out any bigger pieces and place the powder in a jar. There are occasions on a farm where blood stop powder really comes in handy - cutting a goat's hoof too short or your dog's toenail. I discovered that the commercial stuff REALLY STINGS. "Ask me how I know". That's when I started making my own from yarrow and it dosn't sting. Great stuff to have on hand.

Thank you, my dog needs that nearly every time I get the chance to clip her nails it's been too long. Therefore they bleed. She is going to love you! I purchased dog blood stop stiptic but have been afraid to add pain to this little old ladie's life. God bless, she's going to be a happier doggie. :)

@@annsaunders8262 Sure hope it works for you and your sweet doggie. Another tip I found online about clipping toenails. Clip only a very small amount and do it every week. The lady demonstrating has a "toeneil Tuesday" every week. Sorry to say I still haven't been able to make myself trim Dakota's toeails on a weekly basis.

Yes, I have used it on a dog toe nail that got clipped to close with good results. I just pour some boiling water on dried blossoms on a paper towel, let it steep and cool a bit and wadded that on the dogs toe nail. She was so grateful for the pain relief, she let me do the rest of the groom, no problem. I use it on finger cuts: I know how good the pain relief is.

I foraged 20 yarrow plants today. I'm in Birmingham UK. Our council stopped cutting our grass verges. So I saw this video last week and recognised the yarrow. I just yanked up 20 plants and took them home and planted them immediately. I'm going to cultivate yarrow now to make into herbal remedies. I'll be able to plant the yarrow in pots and gift to friends. I'll give the powder to prepper friends too.

I woke up sick one morning...like a cold or flu.
I chopped up about a half cup of yarrow, simmered 10 minutes in 2 cups of water, strained and drank all. Laid down, went to sleep woke up sweating like crazy and was well.
    Amazing stuff.

Stepped in broken glass and thought I'd gotten it all out but I hadn't. Had a pretty good infection going for about 5 days. I threw everything over-the-counter at it; h202, isopropyl, iodine, etc., remembered the yarrow and Voila! 3 days later it was gone. Yarrow is the miraculous gift that does the seemingly impossible.

Yarrow is one plant soldiers used to carry into battle with them because of the styptic and healing abilities. We had it growing all around us when we lived in the mountains and I miss it very much. We had that and mullein in abundance, among many other things.

I am just starting to get into growing and using herbs at the late age of 74. Yarrow was the entry portal. I saw a video by a man who runs a survivalist school in, I think, Arkansas. In an area with plenty of poison oak. He makes an ointment with an infusion of yarrow and plantain. He claims its the best treatment he's run across. I haven't had need for it yet - I live in poison oak country and react strongly - but I'm ready!

The roots are suppose to be a good pain reliever. I've grown it for many years and am about to dig up a section and tincture the roots and dry everything else for teas. I always take my plants with me when we move to start over in a new garden and yarrow does so well even with out attention, where ever I put it. I divide it yearly and move to new sections of my garden. I love medicinals. Just found Osha the other day in the mountains.

I can testify to the effectiveness of yarrow in stopping bleeding having had to resort to it on two occasions when I feared that I would have to end up calling an ambulance. Then I remembered reading somewhere about yarrow's ability to stop bleeding. I told my husband where it was in the flowerbed, described what it looked like. He brought it to me, washed it and made a tea from the leaves which we used to wash the wound after a cooling it down quickly. The bleeding subsided very soon after application. It saved me the cost of an ambulance trip, an emergency room visit and possibly a hospital stay--Mega bucks these days. God is good all the time!

Great video! I grew yarrow last year in a container from a wild yarrow plant i dug up. Well, it didn't work out. It died. But this year, it grew more than I ever imagined. From one plant to a bush! Anyway, I'm going to use it and leave some to regrow next year and collect seeds to have another bunch in another area because I don't think you can have too much yarrow. I make "bleed-stop" and salve, and tinctures with it. Its definitely going into my apothecary. Now, I'm going to be saving it for tea and see what happens with my ulcer! I always use yarrow every time I get scrapes and cuts while hiking since it’s grown just about everywhere, especially on roadsides. It’s easy to just pick the leafy parts and roll/smash with fingers though-roughly and apply directly to area needed. Then if needed, look around for Indian band-aide if I don’t have any in backpack, and find vine or tall grass to tie in over the wounded area. It works really well.

It can self seed fairly easily but it is also a perennial so it comes back each year. You will be able to get tons of seed to replant elsewhere but you can also break off pieces around the base - making sure to get some root, and transplant it. I have done this many times

Great pain relief and healing properties. I also use it to clean French Bulldog face folds and then I only need to clean their faces every other day. Pets also like the smell and trust me to do things to them with yarrow. It also grows wild on the West coast but is too strong for internal use. I grow in my garden. The plant migrates and dies in the old spot. Needs to be moved often if you want lots.

I used to use it as a douche for an occasional goat that had too much bleeding in labor and delivery. Now I have a better nutritional program for them so not a problem anymore. But, recently I started taking a natural help for neuropathy in the feet. ( carnitine, Chinese club moss and a couple other things). It made my fistula ( abdominal, from perforated bowel), bleed excessively. I didnt wantvto stop the supplement, but cut the dose and took yarrow for it and yes, brought the bleeding down, and back to reduced drainage.

I had a cut that would not stop bleeding. After making sure the wound was clean, we made a poultice from clean, fresh, yarrow leaves. It stopped bleeding immediately. The wound was gaping slightly. We gently put a bandage on it that pulled it together also leaving a bit of yarrow on it over night. The next day, the wound had sealed off and the doctor said that we had done all that we needed to do. Now it is healed and I am looking for a natural way to help the scar fade, since it is above my eyebrow.

Have you heard of Prickly Ash root? Not sure I've even spelled it right. My grandmother would get it in the wooded area close to the creek behind her house. She put the root in a bottle of vodka or whisky. She had arthritis and when she was having probs with crocheting she would take a tablespoon of it in the morning and 1 tablespoon at night. She said it would relieve her symtoms quickly and she could use her hands again without the stiffness and pain. I haven't been able to find anyone who knew what it was. Unfortunately I forgot where it was and don't recognize it now. I was pretty young when she showed it to me many years ago

Yah, don’t laugh, hehehe, but yellow mustard has saved me more than once! It took more than 5 min but calming started almost immediately. I did do more than one application if stinging came back up. My last burn was horrible when a boiled kettle of water poured over my hand. Owie! It took two applications over 20-30min but then, voila…I’d totally forgotten about it and no scarring. Both times my hand actually blistered. Scary to look at it as I anticipated more pain…but it never happened:) still. I want to do something with my yarrow. Mine are slightly pink and I’d heard you want the white yarrow? Ty. I really appreciate you and your channel:)

I just learnt something new today, I have lots of yarrow growing "wild" in my garden along with dandelion, both of which I plan to utilize this year, should I ever be able to do any gardening this year. We had another two foot snow dump yesterday which really depressed me but I live in Northern Canada so I should know better. Anyway, I'm hoping to make some dandelion blossom jam if I can find a recipe, I'm not much for jams but I make tomato jam (after I'm done roasting them) when I have too many and it's quite delicious so I'd like to try others. I wonder if the pink yarrow is OK to use though I don't see why not. I've got both.

I am new to Yarrow, but your testimonial about the yarrow tea as drop for your pup made me wonder. Would I be able to use the same tea drops in my pup's ears? He is a Springer Spaniel and is prone to ear infections because of the long, floppy, and hairy ears. I have spent thousands of dollars at the vet, then I found drops on a website, spending $80 a month. If yarrow could be used instead I would greatly information or recipe. Thank you kindly. Interesting about trying the Yarrow for his ear infections. Usually all books say to use Garlic. I think any herb with antibiotic/ect properties can be used though. I tend to just stick a glob of Salve in his ears with my pinky and that seems to take away the issues temporarily until the next time. I've tried Dandelion salve and that worked as well.
