Lyrics:
Oh, what a night
Late December, back in '63
What a very special time for me
As I remember, what a night
Oh, what a night
You know, I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night
Oh, I, I got a funny feeling
When she walked in the room
And my, as I recall
It ended much too soon
(Oh, what a night)
Hypnotizing, mesmerizing me
She was everything I dreamed she'd be
Sweet surrender, what a night
And I felt a rush
Like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinning my head around
And takin' my body under
(Oh, what a night)
Oh, I got a funny feeling
When she walked in the room
And my, as I recall
It ended much too soon
(Oh, what a night)
Why'd it take so long to see the light?
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right
What a lady, what a night
Oh, I felt a rush
Like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinning my head around
And takin' my body under
(Oh, what a night)
Do do do, do do, do do do do
(Oh, what a night)
Do do do, do do, do do do do
(Oh, what a night)
Do do do, do do, do do do do
(Oh, what a night)
Do do do, do do, do do do do...

This drummer is just an amazing singer ❤
I love his voice. My favourite Four Seasons song is Who Loves You. Gerry Polci was the lead singer on that song also. It works well to have the two lead vocals.

Gerry Polci. The dude is super talented.

Like Phil Collins or is Phil Collins like him? 🤔
@trainnerd3029 I would say yes, although Phil has had a much more prolific career, both with Genesis and his solo career. There are other notable drummers who also sing, including Don Henley, Sheila E., Dave Grohl, and Karen Carpenter.

❤ It’s November 17, 2024 (5:24 pm) in San Diego City - and I’m so still playing and blasting this 🔥 song loudly in my apartment! … Cheers!!!
The drummer delivering that fabulous vocal is Gerry Polci.
My friend and classmate from Passaic High School. We are true Jersey kids!
Amazing! I never knew he sang this!
@@carolynstewart2062 Hi Carolyn, just wondering if you have kept up with Gerry, I haven't seen him in later performances, is he still around, I don't mean to have the question sound so rude, sorry!
@@mikehenningsen8796 There’s a comment from live version of this song where a lady claims that Gerry Polci was her HS music teacher in the 80s.
After his gig with the Four Seasons ended, he needed work so he got hired on at a high school somewhere on the east coast and never brought it up to his students.
The girl saw him a few years ago and she asked if that was him. Apparently, it took him by surprise and he kind of blew it off at first until she pressed him about it and he finally came clean before telling her “Alright… now, beat it kid!”😁
@@mikehenningsen8796 He married Frankie's daughter, Toni, in '90
The drummer!!!!!!! His voice is ❤❤❤❤
Agreed. Gerry Polci is fantastic.
I don't think the drummer got enough credit for this song. His voice is great. Frankie Valli just sang the chorus.
CORRECT
Gerry Polci
I literally just found out it was him all along lol
Frankies tone does it though when he comes in.
It is more of a bridge than a chorus. Ironically, this is one of their best songs, and Frankie was hardly in it. I remember seeing/hearing that there was something wrong with his voice at the time this was recorded, so he could only participate in a limited fashion.
Before there was technology, there was a thing called TALENT! ❤
🎯BIINGO! 🎵💃🕺🎵
Amen man brother
I wasn't aware that the drummer was performing lead vocals on this track, truly un-estimated talent of the entire group.

Sharon, that drummer and singer is Gerry Polci. Great talent. Those types were different level back then, all playing a part, compared to the absolute shit nowadays?
That’s because production was an art form unto itself. Nowadays everything is just pushed to ten and everything just runs together. There’s no bounce or interplay between instruments in music today. That’s if it’s not just electronic crap and drum machines.
Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons was one of the few bands that was able to transition from 50's/60's doo wop to 70's light rock, completely change their sound and still make hits. Pretty impressive...
need to check out the Jersey Boys if you havent its the story of them starting out and twists and turns of the band.
You should hear Tony Bennett ----he still sings duos with the likes of lady Gaga----now that's great .!
A totally different group in the 70s except for Franki
They were immensely talented and appealed to multiple genres, including urban radio, R&B and disco.

Me too.
@@elialdea1847 I was born in 1963 as well. This song has always had a special place in my heart. And I swoon over the drummer, Gary!
As i was born in late December 63, this song has a special meaning for me. My absolute favourite! 😍
To have that much control of your voice is phenomenal. It's incredible to think about how many great musicians we had back then. They deserve much more credit and respect for the path they paved
The 70s and 80s were the greatest times for music.

The combination of instruments and vocals is terrific.
I grew up listening to these oldies in the 80s & 90s on cool 105.9 out of Orlando riding around with my dad in an old 4x4 toyota pickup oh the good ol days to go back
Mine was 96.9 cool Fm out of Jacksonville Fl.
The Four Seasons were known more for their early 60s hits ("Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry") but they managed to keep up with the times and still crank out hits a decade later with a radically different genre.
My brother was born in 1949 and I came in 1957. This was music of our youth. Glad you like it.
It reminds me of Ronnie James Dio who started in the 60s and also transitioned into a completely different sound in the 70s
Gerry Polci did such a great job on the lead vocals for this song and Don Ciccone coming in on the falsetto equally as talented. This was the last Number One hit for The Four Seasons.
