- I was unable to film during the recent storms, as most occurred during the hours of darkness. However there was some collateral damage along the coastline, and this is showing some of the damage resulting in the Railway line between Llanelli to Carmarthen having been completely closed to all traffic since last Thursday. There were a few units marooned West of Carmarthen and were used to shuttle between Milford Haven and Carmarthen where buses conveyed them to and from Llanelli. Llanelli 175 116 is seen at Carmarthen.
Some good footage of the damage cause by the recent storms Bob. The sea looked well rough even now; but very strange without any trains along the coast. I liked the rail trolley....that guy was lucky he didn't get soaked picking up that shovel !! well done for videoing this....Steve.
Thanks Steve, with there being no trains, a bit more action was difficult to capture, so that little trolley was a bonus. Thinking of you....Bob
Lovely footage Rob.
Thanks Gareth, glad you liked it...Bob
Glad to see you've survived so far Bob. Bit relentless on our coast too. Really dislike the strong winds. Thanks for the views of the consequences down your way. Chris
I think everyone will be glad when the jet stream moves back to where it belongs Chris, this current weather has been very dangerous in its ferocity....Thanks as always...Bob
Wholesale faient damage by storm and high tides.
This reminds us that nature is always the strongest.
Thank you Bob.
Philippe
Très vrai Philippe, il est certainement une force à être las de ... Espérons que tout est OK là-bas avec vous .... Pob hwyl ... Bob
Very interesting video Bob. Hope the weather settles down soon. All the best Steve.
Thanks Steve, doesn't look like it looking out there at the moment....Bob
A very good account of events on your video Bob. I hope things get back to normal very soon. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff, with my record, I didn't want to go out in the eye of the storm...would probably have ended up being washes ashore in Norway!....Best wishes...Bob
very interesting Bob
Thanks Walter...Bob
Amazing footage Bob, it has been a crazy sequence of storms recently. From what I heard, Arriva hope to resume normal service as late as Jan 15th
Thanks Justin, after covering the whole line between Llanelli and Carmarthen, the section where the trackbed has gone was East of Ferryside, that wasn't accessible by road...typical .......Bob
Euch, what a mess. Apparently the road at Amroth has washed away.
It's been a terrible couple of week Gary...Haven't heard from you for a while...hope all is well...Regards..Bob
My wife delivered twins on Nov 6th. Since then it's been life in the bunker!

Wonderful news Gary...Hearty congratulations to you both...Bob
These storms have certainly caused chaos all around the coast. Thankfully, we escaped the worst of it where I live, with very little disruption, although within a few miles, there was severe damage. A very selective storm! It must seem really weird with the only train being an inspection trolley.....Mervyn
There hasn't been a train since last Thursday Mervyn, the worst hit part of Wales seems to have been at Aberystwyth. Thank goodness the weather has subsided now and life can get nack to normal...Regards..Bob
Nice bit of journalism, Bob. I've been wondering how you were. :)
It's been too bad to venture too far Alan....the days are getting longer and hopefully there will be more video when the trains start to run along the coast once more....Bob
That must have been a terrible storm. The water still looks lively. Guess it will take a time to clear up and repair. Here in Chippenham, we had some very bad winds and pelting rain but the Avon didn't overspill that much in the town, but just a few miles away villages were cut off - fields were deeply flooded - and stuff washed down by the current of the river did quite a bit of damage. As you say, it's been really bad for some folk.
Being exposed directly to the Atlantic Rob, a high tide surge coupled to very strong winds is always a worry...but thankfully it's been mostly superficial damage so far...Regards...Bob
Brilliant shots Bob.Lot of damage been done. Now the storm has passed at Ferryside you can go and push the boat out.LOL.We still got of light considering what Aberystwyth had.(C&A)
Thanks both, it's been unsafe to go out during the storms, and as you say we've had nothing compared to Aberystwyth...let's hope it stays that way....Bob
Well covered Bob, Pwll conditions took on a Dawlish sea wall look.
The tide was coming in from the West and the wind from the South East, so not as exciting as it could have been Brian.....Bob
That almost looked like a steam shovel that he picked up from the trackside. Thanks for the video.
Someone else thought it was a shovel, I thought it was a small sign, will have to take a closer look.....Many thanks...Bob
A closer look in HD has shown it is indeed a shovel....well spotted...Bob
Looks like a lot of work ahead after the storm cleaning up and repairing.
All the snow storms tou've had have come over here as rain storms Wayne, and causing havock everywhere.....Hope all is well with you...Bob
Very nice scenery with the birds and the water crashing over the breakers. Sorry you all are having so many storms, now the National Weather Service NWS is naming snow storms, how long before they name tornadoes? Great video, Bob
Thanks again Larry, I hope all is well with you over there...this is wild enough for us over here...Regards...Bob
Same here, it's wild, but you over there are getting the worst of it, it's the cold temps over here that are severe, wishing you all better Luck, :o)
Nice coverage of what's happening in you're hood Bob! Nothing but snow and cold here, had -18F last week. I was looking for trains that day but struck out. Just as well, not sure camera or tripod would have worked smooth anyway. Life in the great white north eh? Happy new year bud! Rich
Thanks Rich, it appears that all the sbow you've had over there has fallen over here as rain....it's the srtong winds and high tides that are doing all the damage, especially along the coastal areas.....Hope you had a good Christmas, and I wish you and your family all the best for 2014....Bob
Terrible them sea's when the weather is very wet and windy Bob,Hope you are keeping your feet dry.''
One of the dangers of living by the sea Trevor, but I wouldn't change it for the world.....Bob
Good view across the bay. That little Network Rail trolley looks fun. did he find that spade or had it been left there?
Thanks Andrei, there hasn't been any passenger trains along this track since Thursday, I thought he's picked up a sign, but I may be wrong...Bob
I've had a closer look Andrei in HD and it is a shovel...well spotted...Bob
Hi Bob, long time, had computer probs,I was using XP got a virus in it could not clear it as XP will not be updating after April I thought I will have to use something else so I have windows 7 in now, everything ok now. Looks as if you had damage too, not much you can do when mother nature is in charge.......John
Hello John, great to hear from you again, sorry to hear about your problems, but it's good that everything has now been sorted out...Best wishes.....Bob
intresting to see how much damage there is. There is still trains running up the Central Wales line though. This proves one thing about the our railways when something bad happens to the rail network this site of Llanelli the trains are stuck. If in the 1960s most of the railways haddened closed there was other ways around.
Thanks, there has been a bus service from Llanelli tp Pantyffynnon...seems that buses are the alternative mode of transport these days.....Bob
Looks as if it was a very bad storm Robert; I hope that everyone is safe and unharmed. How long do they expect the rail lines to be shut down?
Best regards, please keep safe!
Dave
It hasn't been as bad here as some parts of the Country have had to endure Dave...It's expected the line may be closed for another three days or so. Further strong winds and heavy rain have persisted after this footage was taken earlier today.....Thanks for your good wishes....Bob
Mother nature can certainly dish it out ..
She cetainly can, we were relatively lucky down here, but still much costal damage...Bob
Now the clean up begins but another storm forecast for tonight, hope we get back to normal soon.
Never seen anything like it in my lifetime Chris, few more days of it to go yet, so fingers crossed.....Bob
Aberystwyth took a battering too Robert, it was on the Dutch news last night, and more to come.
It had the most damage, that's for sure....incredible forces of nature...such a shame as it's a beautiful town....Bob
Looks like it was a bad storm.
It has been rough over the last week, and it has certainly left its mark...Bob
