Truly an epic video . This was a unique video breaking through the ice . I respect how your family prioritizes safety and planning before attempting challenges. Pete you’re an inspiration to fathers , husbands, and men leading and mentoring your family . You truly are a watchman. I feel for those new to your channel they don’t know your depth of knowledge growing up in this region and how to navigate risks in this video . Your wife and sons are amazing as a team and family unit. The drone footage of you breaking up the ice was incredible. True cinematic mastery . Bravo Epic family and God bless.🙏
If that gave me anxiety, I imagine Carol's mama heart did everything she could to not scream TURN AROUND AND GO BACK and pull her son off the front. 😂 Glad everything was OK. What a great family! I found you just a week or two ago and I have watched hours of your videos.
Wow you are amazing glad you are home safe! I was stressing a lot but I know if I can wath the video it's because they are safe ! Ouf ....take care and see you next week ! Thank's for the video!❤😊
I always appreciate how you all work together to solve problems! I will admit, I wouldn't want this sort of anxiety, but you all kept level heads and accomplished the necessary mission!
I feel like I could run out of adjectives when describing your videos, they’re simply stunning (a word I lean on often when viewing each of your latest works). I’m in south Louisiana and the likelihood of doing HALF the adventures you do is slim. I always feel like I’m with you and enjoy every minute! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH 💞
Thing we forget is that the most important thing is family and having your family there and keep them safe and having a plan I’m glad you guys keep your family close and you have plans and you guys prepared keep up the fun guys will follow
It's amazing what you have to deal with to get to the mainland! You live in a different world than we do in BC! The firsttime I went back to Quebec to visit my husband's family I couldn't believe all the ice and snow! Yesterday our weather was at 20' c and very warm! It's time to get our garden ready now! The diversity of our country is so amazing!😊
I'm living my dream through your videos. You might remember the TV show " The life and times of Grisley Adams", l dreamed of living in the wild like he did and also the way you do on your island. 👍❤️📹😃
Awesome video as always EFRT. Glad to see y’all are able to put y’all’s boat back in the water. Can’t wait to see what’s going to y’all’s next adventure.
Wow! It's truly amazing how your family MUST work as a team to get through all those icy waters! Such bravery and focus needed to get through all that! Makes me feel SO spolied living in AZ where I NEVER have to deal with what you all do to survive. I was biting my nails when y'all were getting into the thicker ice! 😰 You all do such an AMAZING job with the cinematography of your videos it's almost movie theater quality!! I highly enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing! Nice hairdo Pete! 👍
Hi EFRT You have alot of love and concern in these comments. But since I've been watching i know Dad & Mom have taught safety first. Much love to you all and all those in the comments. Lets always stay Kind and Positive ❤
Hey family❤Harrie and I, like all your viewers, sat with a bit of anxiety for you all. So happy to see it all ended well. Back safely home! Love you all.😊
Having lived the lifestyle you're enjoying, but in the far north and without bells and whistles, we sat holding our breath and shaking our heads wondering what could have been so desperately needed to risk death. Sometimes, except for emergency situations, it's best to have loads of patience and just wait for mother nature to clear your path to shore.
glad y'all made it there and back . tbh honest i was getting jealous of Pete's junior's hair ( still am LOL). this vlog has the potential of 100k+ views . i would've maybe chose a different thumbnail ( almost getting stuck clearing a path through an icy lake or something like that ) it attracts new viewers
Peter and family, why don't you drive the boats backwards into the boat shed at the end of the season? If you are using the bow of your boat in the video. The engine may not be powerful enough and taking an extra tank with you is no problem. So, you have the bow dimensions, don't forget the first 70 cm at the bottom, build an attachable bow guard from 1,5 - 2 mm steel. Slide it over, fix it with good steel wire so that it rests against the bow and you could deal much better with the ice now, or the first one. You have a winch and that works. Forward in the bow compartment, put inflated airbags in there. Laugh, that's how it works. If you have any questions, no problem, I'll be happy to help you. Greetings from Frankfurt Gerold
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I absolutely love your island and cabin! You are very quickly becoming my favorite you tube channel! Lando is the cutest dog 😊. Can't wait till next time.
Oh how exciting for you all! Whoopee 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 it’s a whole new world. Now you can relax and enjoy and get ready to put Carole’s beautiful garden it! Oh happy days, oh happy days 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 where Dan? I would think he’d be in there helping. Strapping lad that he is. Hope he well?
Dan was working at his cabin ruclips.net/video/AdTnuK9K-d4/видео.htmlsi=dv8o7YZ_zsEIcTHg We also didn’t want 4 people in the boat and needed him back on land monitoring the phone in case we text him 👍🏻
My God....que sufoco. Eu tenho muito medo de andar de barco e com gelo então?!.....uma sugestão ( comprem um barco igual ao do seu vizinho Dan). Abraço aqui do Brasil família aventureira. E que a primavera tenha dias mais quentes para derreter todo esse gelo. Que lindas imagens feitas pelo drone quando o gelo estava sendo quebrado (arte).
Really enjoyed the video always love your content I watch every video you put out can’t wait till the next one. I’m glad you’re safe and I’m glad ice is breaking up. Tiny Houston MS
What a “sketchy”, your name for scary , ride this video was. It was gripping. Amazing filmography. I can’t figure out how Pete filmed while driving the boat alone ? Is Lando now the new tech support?
The color of the water. The overly exuberant GSP. The sound of the ice against the boat. Life on the water away from the Jeep. Knowing that people like me will come to rescue you. I'd take that mission any day! Si many former college's who either have or currently work for GR today, remind me of many points in my life current and previously. Granted I lived on a river..... none the less extremely similar. Having ventured within what I guess is about 120km of your island in the mid '80's, having dropped into Lake Nipigon by canoe.... Another absolutely excellent video, you guys!!!
For people that seem very sensible, I thought this was a very ill advised thing to do. You always talk about being well prepared for off grid life however seem like it was life and death to get to your truck and go buy supplies. You couldn't just have waited a few more days. No video is worth that kind of risk. Many times you commented on how sketchy it was to attempt this. Glad your safe and have no doubt you'll have the biggest icebreaker or fan boat out there for next season. Cheers
Not trying to be critical but what was the need for this exercise, other than a haircut and shopping that could wait? I've done some ice breaking and if you want to be the first guy out on the lake there are heavier aluminum boats made in Canada close by your location.
Just wondering if you guys have had any problems with you Starlink ? My system crashed the last week of March their customer support hasn't been much help either .
Too much redundancy with the ice breaking footage, though I really enjoyed the aerial part of Pete and Lando crisscrossing in the boat. I’m surprised the young man didn’t cut his hair at home. I forced myself and my sons to learn to cut one another’s hair at the start of the PLANdemic in 2020. PS: Im on the cusp of getting a dog: either an Aussie, Border Collie or a “Lando.” Tough choice considering dogs temperaments can vary widely even within the same breed. I want a high energy dog who can accompany me on my daily trail runs and hikes. Thanks for your content.
I don’t understand why you would risk all your lives going out on that frozen lake when you still had supplies and didn’t need to put all yourselves in danger ..
For somebody who claims "off grid" you certainly afford EVERY luxury life offers. When you have friends helicoptering you gas (previous video) you are FAR from "off grid"
Off grid is not being connected to public utilities - power, water, sewer, gas, so no monthly bill from a company or municipality providing an ongoing public service.
Great channel, but today’s trek through the ice covered channel was really bad judgement. That ice could have easily punctured a hole in that boat’s hull - it’s not reinforced at all to be an icebreaker. If you had sprung a leak you would have had minutes to abandon ship into frigid waters. Highly recommend never doing again (and as a lawyer I recommend placing legal/safety disclaimers on these types of videos).
I understand your excitement at becoming ice, free and being able to travel by boat . What I don’t understand is poking at the ice with a pole while standing up in a boat, not wearing a life jacket, and not wearing a cold water suit. Yes you’re close to shore, but if you fall into that cold water, the shock will slow down all of your reaction times. This makes it a very dangerous situation. Farther into the video you’re into open water with absolutely no sign of lifejackets. 😮 I understand there is a lot that’s not being shown in these videos, but I feel disappointed that you would take such seemingly unnecessary risks with your lives for a haircut and visit to Tim Hortons.
You know better than that. Pete Sr. Pays great heed to all safety devices and protocol always paying great attention to his family’s safety. I’m sure the are just under their jackets 😃
We are wearing floatation coats made by STRIKER. These are life jackets made for winter usage. 👍🏻 We we’re quite safe the whole time. Thanks for your care and concern though. We appreciate it.

That's why it is men who seek out new worlds 😂
"We're gonna need a bigger boat" comes to mind haha 😀. I hope Pete feels better soon. Sounded like a nasty cold.
Feeling better already. Thank you 🙏🏻
I always appreciate how you all work together to solve problems! I will admit, I wouldn't want this sort of anxiety, but you all kept level heads and accomplished the necessary mission!
After the stress, it looks like Peter was having some fun breaking up all the ice! Lift your family up in prayer often.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Great video EFRT! The drone video of Pete and Lando breaking up the ice around your dock were very cool!

Now this was an epic boat trip! The cabin series is my favorite!
Good episode. The drone shots with Pete Sr.. and Lando breaking up the ice were very cool (cold?). Glad Lando is in charge.

Yes. If our hair was getting long, Grandpa used to say “you’re starting to look like Grizzly Adams” 😆 It’s a good life in the wild.
What a thrilling experience!!!
Your son looks tougher than you do old man. You must be proud! Great family you have there sir!

More sunny warm days 😎
What a fantastic EFRT adventure - right in your ‘back yard’. Quite an educational for us subs. Thank you!
Port and Starboard. Another great video guys.
Beautiful view of the boat breaking through the ice from the drone. Thank you for that clip. It's not easy when in a dangerous situation
WOW!!!! Definitely should have !stay on the island… Very SKETCHY and not safe !

My thoughts exactly. I was in awe as I viewed the drone footage breaking up the ice . Truly spectacular!
Added a new thumbnail. Great suggestion. Thanks.

The Road is calling...
You amp up my courage every time I watch another segment. You’re good medicine for my courage.
Love ya EFRT.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Glad to see the ice gone, spring is coming soon, although not quick enough
Dan, awesome drone videography! And...ah...interesting video all around.
Reminds me of when I lived in Fairbanks every year during breakup doing everything you can to break up the ice and help get rid of it faster.
You know the feeling. 👍🏻
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I absolutely love your island and cabin! You are very quickly becoming my favorite you tube channel! Lando is the cutest dog 😊. Can't wait till next time.
Thats a bit scary, Dan nearly fell in wow😢. I love it when it's all still got ice in it. Be careful😊

This was a exciting trip threw the water🤪
While watching this episode, I heard the Titanic theme song in my mind😂...
😆
Sorry Pete J. I thought you were Dan. Haircut looks cool. I hope Pete S , gets rid of his 🥶 cold soon. That is life living on an Island😊
Good video. Memories of the ice breaking up on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
It takes amazing and brave people to live in the colder regions! Love the video and take care!❤
Glad everyone is home safe and sound. Beautiful place.
Thank you.
Its like look, but don't look! Peek through your fingers over your face! 😊😊😊

Another Ho Hum adventure from your island 😉 Hopefully you are free today for good! Nice haircut Pete and Lando, could you be any cuter 💜!!
This was an amazing video. I learned so much about ice on the lake. Take care folks.
G’Morning have a great day today be safe too! 💕☺️☕️👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Nice haircut! 👍
I hope after the workout you gave your outboard motor you get sponsorship! This was probably one of the most epic adventure I’ve watched so far
Thanks 🙏🏻
Love your life

That's what you call being anxious to get the tinny back out on the lake.
This was d-icey😮😮😮😮❤ glad you all made it safe
Good one. 🧊👍🏻

Just wondering if you guys have had any problems with you Starlink ? My system crashed the last week of March their customer support hasn't been much help either .
what a chore.. How far is it exactly from Cabin to where your cars are parked?
Seems like several miles.
I am curious as to what you needed so badly you could not survive without for another week.
We mostly needed a passage by boat to the mainland. The fan boat was only available on the weekends. It’s a safety thing 👍🏻

A GSP like lando definitely likes to run 🐕 We’ve tried a few home hair cuts and weren’t too happy 😆
love it from bonnie scotland
Thanks for watching in bonnie Scotland 🏴 ❤️
😍😍👍👍👍👍
Won’t the ice damage the propeller?
No damage was done. We were going slow and being careful. 👍🏻

👍👍😃👌
Worried about you guys. Why take this risk?
We had taken all the precautions. Getting a boat in the water and being able to come and go freely is a big thing. 👍🏻
