Kaushik sir pls let us know about the future of diesel engines in India. India is gearing up for Bharat Stage 7 now. VW has started its exit from India. Pls update us in that too if possible. Thanks
It is best to avoid Diesels altogether and coming from a Diesel fan like myself these are hard words
#1 - DPF clogging issues are rampant in all Diesels irrespective of brands and even the mighty Fortuner has that, if you don't have majority of highway running (70-80% highways and 20% city), DPF will surely get clogged and lead to much reduced mileage, power and in worst cases car will refuse to run or regenerate and you will need to go to service center to get it cleared/cleaned. For City Driving and for short trips these problems will amplify 100x!
#2 Government policies around Diesels change for worse at anytime, first it was the 10 year ban in Delhi NCR (who knows they make it nationwide one day) then after that they don't let me run my BS4 Diesel car for 20-30 days during winters or I face 10K fine for disobeying.
Better avoid all these hassles altogether and get a Petrol and if Scorpio and Thar's low mileage are unacceptable then get XUV 700 which is lighter and more aerodynamic or move to another brand altogether.
