  • If you wonder how to pack a paraglider properly, just click on this video. I am going to show you my best way to pack a paraglider as small as possible and save space in your bag. These 2 methods how to pack a paraglider are very efficient and they might not be the fastest, but are for sure very healthy for you paraglider and the best if you want to reduce the packing size of your glider.
    #Paraglider #Paragliding #Paragliding101
    I am flying paraglider for roughly 3 years now and I really struggled in the beginning with the proper way of packing my paraglider. I spent sometimes even 20 minutes to understand how to fold it small enough to fit it inside my bag. Packing a paraglider properly, will still take some time. Usually 10 minutes are enough for me now. It really depends if it's windy or not. I hope you find this tutorial helpful. Enjoy the video!

      But my question about grasshopers, is the following: Always a grasshopper gets trapped inside de wing, is it going to hole it, or not always that happens, in an unavoidable way?
      Greetings

      @@petrusaroesnosa7461 Some of them are still alive when you pack the wing. But no, most of them die. Of course the more you trap inside the glider, the more chances there are for some of them to start nibbling the material. But normally nothing to worry about

    That's exactly the video I needed. I'm packing my wing without doing cell by cell. Swing Paragliders told us we don't really need to pack our Swing wings cell on cell anymore because they use a material that doesn't bend.

      Hey Paul. You can also pack your glider like that if you like to. I love my wing too much to roll it like a burrito. I didn't hear of any rigid rods in the leading edge that should be bent. For sure you can bend them, but I don't think is a good idea to keep on doing that every single time. A paraglider should be packed properly, fit and compact, but too tight is not good due to the higher friction. But hey, to each their own... thanks for sharing. Stay safe!

    I pack the same way but can never get all rods on top of each other. How do you prevent bending the rods in the middle, right between the two glider halfs?

    • @Dvybz
      @Dvybz  3 года назад +2

      I had the same problem in the beginning not really knowing how to do that. You just need to fold neatly both halfs the way you saw in the video and at the end you might see that one rod in the middle on the wing that you are talking about. Well, you just need to grab that rod and fold it (not bending) over one of the halfs. Basically, just decide to which half that rod should go to by grabing that rod by the cell opening and add it to whichever half you want while you put both halfs of the wing together. Is pretty hard to explain in words 😅. Try it out and I am sure you will figure it out. Let me know how it goes!

    Hello; Are really grasshoppers so dangerous for the wing? I can see many of them in this video.

    • @Dvybz
      @Dvybz  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, grasshoppers can be dangerous because they will chew through the material if they stay alive after you pack up the wing. Most of them die soon after packing, but some could stay alive. Usually it is not a reason to worry at all, but it happened to me before that the grasshoppers chewed a bit on the material.

      @@Dvybz Hello again. Just one week after writting that post, I found a dead grasshopper, inside one of my wings. It was partialy flat, but not smashed. I have frantically been searching for holes, but I dind´t find any (it´s a new wing). What I did found, was a sort of viscous light green stuff, that was very easy to clean, just with water. A secretion from the grasshopper, maybe? Fortunately, I have searched many times, cell by cell, and I haven´t found any hole, nor stains. Greetings from Spain.

    • @Dvybz
      @Dvybz  9 месяцев назад +2

      Glad to know that your wing has no holes 😅. It actually rarely happens for them to have the energy and time to chew through the material. It is almost unavoidable to not catch some grasshoppers when packing your glider, especially on grassy underground. Grettings, buddy

    • @Dvybz
      @Dvybz  4 года назад +1

      Take both risers in one hand, pull the lines semetrically on both sides till you get your glider in the shape of a so called ''flower'' or rosette, and now the wing is at least prepared to be packed. Grab now the wing from the middle and start folding cell on cell. You have to try to minimize friction when you pack it if you have a rocky ground. The rest is the same. Good luck!

    Safety alert: Never disconnect (unclip) from your harness. Why? You have just added another launch potato step and you increase your risk of riser twist or worse. Once you have your risers correctly hooked to the glider, until you buy a new wing or harness there is no reason to ever unclip. A long PG career is all about reducing risk. Adding unnecessary steps increases the risk and over time your odds of making a mistake go up. Also the rolling method increases seam tension. It is better to fold like a snake coil not roll. ALSO never wear those damn ego cameras on your helmet or enjoy a potential line entanglement and potential catastrophe. Been flying for 30 years and know of a few that had epic problems and injuries with helmet mounted cams. Oh last safety tip don't fly comps, take the ego out. Too much ego in Pging now. Not many have a 30 year flying career and I hope at least 20 more!

      Never disconnecting your harness arguably creates a launch potato…. In ten years, I have never connected incorrectly or had a twist. I’ve never left my harness connected to my wing. Not saying you are wrong just saying that if you create a system, stick to it and it will serve you well.
