I loved Johnny’s character development.
He’s still funny, sarcastic and doesn’t take his enemies seriously but he’s actually a decent bloke.
Seriously who else would not react with the same eye rolling disdain meeting their past selves?
He's also much smarter and knows that he was nothing but a jerk so he tries to be the best him he can be to make up for it.
In arcade he still acts like old Johnny, new Johnny is only in story mode which makes it canon and I can appreciate his growth

3:36 this moment goes under appreciated, you see young Johnny looking at Sonya you expect young Johnny to look at any woman, but you see old Johnny looking at Sonya like he's looking at the wife he knows and loves, with all the love you expect a happily married man to look at his wife. Sonya sees both of them and sees the Johnny she knows and sees the Johnny she'll grow to know. That's what makes her smile, she realises Johnny matures later in life and changes almost entirely, and entirely for the better. That's why it's an underrated moment, so much is said without a word being spoken..... uuuuntill young Johnny fucks it all up

I think MK11 really did a good job showing how much Johnny has matured over the years. Older Johnny still cracks jokes, still acts like the star, but he knows he's been an asshole, and he doesn't let the stupid shit he used to do slide anymore.
He might still an actor, but for now he more thinking about his family more instead Hollywood
MKX did a pretty good job with that as well

The Johnny and Sonya in the intros are the young versions, their dialogue doesn't change regardless of the skin. So they're not even a family yet.

One annoying thing with the intros is that they don't differentiate between past and present versions. Some of these don't make sense if they don't have the right version/skin!
Yeah, definitely. At least X had some differences, I.E. Takeda and Kenshi would react differently if they were up against Hanzo or Scorpion
They intros are their young versions, the dialogue is gonna be the same regardless of what skin they have on. They weren’t a family yet.

Man, the pain in Cassie's face is so palpable for some of these scenes. The conflict of looking at Sonya knowing full well what will happen, while staying true to her role in this war is amazing. Definitely not like the Cassie we were given in MKX

Sonya worked a lot when Cassie was young and Johnny was the one that did the most parenting.

NRS made him so likable with everything from his character development to his fatalities (which are one of the best in the game imo, the puppet one anyone?!) and his dialogues are so funny. The whole "younger versions interacting with older versions" shtick is just genius. It feels like a love letter to MK fans. And I love Sonya's line "Why learn their names if they're not gonna stick around?" - I do that with my own daughters. Told 'em if they marry a guy, THEN I'll bother remembering his name. Until then, he's just a future ex-boyfriend.
