LS&I was another, i nearly modeled them...i will never forget when dad and i were at a gas station and heard the horn...we went up to check it out, the saw dads BN hat and stopped, talked and said well hell come for a ride with us ...
Awesome video rob! Im currently working on a lima C420 with a highly modified athearn UB underframe for Kevin lynch...with a few others...as well my america latina Logistica modeling...with the port strike im going to get some frateschi locomotives and some old 1984 run SD40-2s at the western depot in northern California
From the excellent lens work of Mr Christopher and countless hours of studio editing and heartfelt effort, from Mr Conway, comes nothing short of legend!! From a friend who’s not only been along for the best and worst the railroad offered, including the majority of the rides which became the bases for this series, comes the assurance that you will never find a better documentary about short line railroading, nor the Alco power that made the GBW a literal cult classic! Take a seat and not only blaze the main, but get the privilege of meeting some of the best employees in all of railroading-! If you were lucky enough to have been there your tears will be of joy for the memories, if you were not, then your tears will be of sorrow for having missed this monumental moment in time. Enjoy every living loving second, we sure did-! Phil “Vista”Dohmen
I can rarely add anything to your comments Phil. The fact that you were a part of the production crew and an inspiration in so many ways adds to the overall coolness of the East End Productions experience. RR
Thank you so much for releasing this series. Many years ago when I was a kid I had my dad order "Centuries of the Northwoods" from an ad in Trains magazine. It is still a prized possession of mine. I'm now into a 26 year career on the RR currently working in Green Bay. Thanks again!
You're welcome. Centuries of the North Woods was a milestone in the field of railroad video. The GBW series could possibly top Centuries from a production and quality documentary standpoint. RR
@EastEndProductionsArchiv-lm3lq Just a quick reflection on the Centuries tape. I received it as a Cristmas present. Of course, it was in the VHS player before my siblings and I finished opening the other gifts 😃. As I didn't know anyone who worked for the RR and being pre-internet, the tape opened up a whole new world for me. Good memories!
Two things about this: 1. I already have a SUPERB indication that this documentary will be just as insightful & educational as your visit to the Trona Railway years back. 2. What I like about the GB&W is that their operations are similar to their nearby railroad friend WC. Each railroad has a collection of Verteran DIE-HARD diesels that have become fan-favorites, the scenery their lines pass through is filled with peaceful environments, & above all personal from each railroad were always friendly with a down-to-earth down home flavor.
Good comparison! We always knew that the GBW's days were numbered, and we were prepared for the ultimate demise. The WC on the other hand hit us and MANY other railfans hard. We didn't see it coming. But we did have some fun with the WC before CN destroyed it and everything the WC stood for. RR
@@EastEndProductionsArchiv-lm3lq This is why I always prefer 90'S railroading to today's. It's a more simpler time for railfanning & you get more of what your looking for when it comes to variety.
I can't give a definite answer. We are releasing the sections as Bill finishes them. Subscribe to our channel if you haven't already and click the Notification bell. As soon as we release the next section, you'll know right away. RR

I’ve always liked the way they staggered the reflective tape on the sides of those Alcos.
The "checkerboard" frames were truly a GBW trademark. RR
