    so, what is angular speed? Is angular velocity the same as angular speed?

      just as with non-rotational speed and velocity, speed has just the magnitude whereas velocity has magnitude and direction. You can hear them being used interchangeably but technically angular velocity should have a negative sign for clockwise rotation and a positive sign for counterclockwise.
