Hello from the Caribbean islands of St. Kitts & Nevis! 👋🏼
We spent our time touring the West Indies island with a side-by-side adventure through the rainforest, hitting all the hotspots along the way! Stopping at the Sugar Plantation built back in 1753 while learning some of the back history of the islands rich sugar legacy. We got the lowdown on several of the island fruits and plants from a local. We viewed the Brimstone Hill & the sight of Mount Liamuiga, the stratovolcano making up the NW side of island. We also visited the beautiful scenic Romany Manor Botanical Gardens, home to Caribelle Batik. We then walked through the streets of the capital, Basseterre. In the center of the city, known as The Circus, stands the green clock tower known as the Berkeley Memorial. We continued walking and saw the many fruit stands and shops while replenishing our thirst with a yummy fruit smoothie! Want to visit an island with monkeys!? This is the place for it! They hangout everywhere on the island, even in the capitals streets where you can find them dressed as pirates ready to pose for a selfie (or steal your food!) We then made it to the Amina Craft Market. A perfect stop for booths filled with many handmade gifts crafted by local artist. We visited with one of the local artist who shared her colorful artwork made from the islands calabash fruits and wood. After visiting with her we then made our way to the most breathtaking view the island has to offer. The picture perfect view had the Atlantic Ocean to the left and the Caribbean Sea to the right with the mountainous island situated in-between. We wanted to do more than view the beautiful water so we set off to Shipwreck Beach. On the taxi ride there we saw many small local villages and cultivated fields. The town has been hit by both earthquakes and hurricanes but the locals are proud of their heritage and day by day work hard to do their best at preserving historical buildings and are rebuilding their community. Once we were dropped off at Shipwreck Beach we hit the water with jet skis unleashing tons of built up adrenaline. After that rush we chilled out with some snorkeling near the pier! It was time to seek out the underwater life! Sadly our GoPro died and we were unable to capture the sea turtle spotted. We ended our time on the Caribbean islands of St. Kitts & Nevis by soaking up the rays of sunlight and visiting with the friendliest locals. Do we recommend the visit!? Hands down!!
