    Thank you for your question, Milan. Yes, you can add mashed bananas to these muffins. You can also use dried cranberries or cherries instead of raisins. Enjoy!

    Second time I make these. There's no buttermilk where I live, so I use plain yogurt, add a dash of cinnamon and use Cranberries instead of raisins... they're AMAZING

      A helpful tip:
      Take 2%/whole milk and measure one cup. Measure one tablespoon of vinegar OR lemon juice. Mix vinegar, or lemon juice, into the one cup of milk. Let sit for five minutes.
      Ta-da, you have buttermilk.

    It’s exactly like my Grans recipes which is the best imo, except she also added a handful of rolled oats to hers, and she would make the mixture the night before and bake them in the morning for fresh breakfast food. Perfecto! It’s also how I make mine. Cheers!

      I too add oats for extra nutrition. I bought oatmeal at Dollar Tree intending to cook it but ended up using it to fortify bran muffins instead.

    These look wonderful. Can I use something in lieu of brown sugar? I'm diabetic.

    • @lukeherrington8555
      @lukeherrington8555 2 года назад +1

      You're already sinning by eating the flour. Instead of brown sugar I would suggest honey.
      However, brown sugar is the least adulterated version of sugar. I believe each muffin would be roughly 17G of carbs and maximum 3-5 grams of sugar. Closer to 3 grams, I digress.
      This is a very healthy take on a breakfast staple.

    • @lukeherrington8555
      @lukeherrington8555 2 года назад +1

      It will work. Will need to tinker with the final product for personal taste preference.
      However, in theory this would work.

    I can not get buttermilk, what can I use?

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  10 лет назад +4

      Hi, nuchannel123 - Great question! If buttermilk isn't available, you can substitute plain (unflavored) yogurt. Use the same amount. And if yogurt isn't available, use 1 cup of milk and stir in 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice to give it a slightly sour taste. Let this stand 5 minutes before stirring it into the wheat bran. Happy baking!
