      The s8 has a cool feature where it lifts the mop but in my opinion the negatives outweigh the positives with the roborock brand. For starters, leaving the mop area wet is just disgusting and leads to smells coming from it.

    • @NateBraska
      @NateBraska Год назад

      @@michaelhinchey that's not new for the S8 though. The S7 MaxV, S7, and maybe even S6 did that too. I agree with the smell, though the Ultra dock is just so darn expensive

    One thing that’s not in this review - and I don’t know how you’d include this - is the reliability of the software and how good their support is.
    For example:
    I used to have an Ecovacs T8 Ozmo AIVI and it forgot the map constantly, even when nothing changed.
    They broke all integrations with third party software when they switched over cloud systems and some are still broken.
    Then, the unit itself broke and didn’t turn on anymore. Nothing worked. Support was no help.
    Reading the r/ecovacs subreddit I’m not the only one. Tons of people have faulty units after a year of usage with support just straight up not helping and tons of people having really bad experiences with the software.
    I now have a Roborock instead and it’s night and day. It’s incredible how much more stable and higher quality everything is from software to hardware.

    • @Flebsy
      @Flebsy Год назад +3

      same situation with me, i bought 2 ecovacs T8+ AIVI's and completely regret it. constantly needs to redo the map like 50% of the time its started, which basically makes it borderline useless

    Interesting, thanks for sharing as the T20 isn't available in New Zealand. In my opinion, the auto-mop lifting is the decisive factor for most people, at least here where most homes have a mixture of floor types.

    Love your videos! One thing I'm curious about with all the robot vacuums is noise level. I don't think that's something you cover, but maybe I missed it. I would love to know how loud they are. As someone who works from home I would hate for it to be so loud that it could be heard during meetings. I don't expect total silence since it IS a vacuum, but would love to know how loud they are :)

    Great review, Ecovacs also has come out with two other new bots and I have both of them, there's the T9 Plus which I think has been out for a while but for some reason Ecovacs did not release it in the United States until now. The T9 Plus has some nice upgrades compared to the T8 Plus which is also a great robot. The other new robot is the N10 Plus, if you don't need object avoidance, this robot is also excellent. If you get the chance, definitely check out these two, I think you will be glad you did.

    I've had the Ecovacs T8 AIVI for a couple of years now. I would not buy another from them. The software is still buggy! You send it to a specific room and it goes to a completely different room! You can see it on the map. The room you selected and the Deebot off working in the wrong one! It get's stuck all the time. Sometimes in the exact same spot over and over. You put it back in the dock and after a bit it's stuck right where it was before. It looses the map often and has to be redone. The mapping functions are also buggy. Trying to split an area into two rooms becomes difficult. They also use the notification function to spam you with advertisements. All in all, I wouldn't call it in any way intelligent and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

    My narwal t10, which is admittedly a dinosaur nowadays compared to some of the newer mop bots, still doesn't amazing job on floors despite it not having a built in water tank. I think the disadvantage of not having a water tank is actually somewhat beneficial because it just means it has to go clean the mop more.
    This would obviously be a downside if I had a floor layout with rooms that need deep cleaning far away from the wash base.
    Less mechanical complexity on both the robot and the wash base though. I just wish the ecovacs had lifting mops, that's kind of a let down

    Ecovacs base features are good. However it is a premium priced product with trashy software, bad mapping and "memory" between cleaning runs. I highly emphatically do not recommend anyone to waste money on an Ecovacs product. I did and had to write it off and buy a top of the line Roborock a year later which absolutely destroys the Ecovacs. Beyond software, the Ecovacs T9 auto destroys itself, so I have to keep buying 100usd parts for it every 5 months.

      I have a X1 Omni and so far everything is working great. It hasn't forgotten the map and does the cleaning as per my preferred preference set in the app. I just empty out the dirty water and refill the clean water tanks. Rest it takes care of everything, Although I strongly agree that they definitely have room for improvement on the app.

    You know I can't let this one go. I've had 2 different X1 Omnis and they have both had terrible navigation. As an example, it started ramming into the fireplace hearth in a well-lighted room and it just kept on ramming. It had no idea it had encountered an immovable object. To add insult to injury, every time I picked it up and moved it to a new spot, it went right back to the hearth and continued ramming. The other day, it could not manage to park itself on the dock even though it was half on, half off. It said "clean the sensors", but they were spotless. As often as not, it cannot complete a cleaning run without human intervention. And that it cannot do both carpeting and hard surfaces in the same run is a pretty big con.

      i own a ecovacs T8... on forums about 90% of people are happy with them. but i agree 100%, their robot is 10/10, the software/firmware is 4/10. Its hit or miss. thats way ecovacs just replace your robot if there is a problem. They probably know it too.

    I feel like the quality of the reviews has dropped in favor of brevity. The way the reviews are structured and presented now makes it so much more difficult to actually compare different types of robot vacuums together.
    Simply using adjectives instead of data and numbers to describe the performance makes the comparisons arbitrary. Yes, they’re all good, but which is the best, by how much and in what areas.
    I dont think most average consumers tend to watch a lot of robot vacuum or vacuum reviews. The people who do are those that care about this stuff for one or another reason. And those people tend to care about accuracy, actionable and clear comparisons and transparency.
