This Liquid team is actually amazing with the addition of Stewie2k. Liquid gave him so much space to play the way he wants, and it rewards the team hugely.
The championship-winning round where he pushed up mid to flank banana exemplifies perfectly what stewie brings and what was missing in Liquid. You could never imagine anyone in any of the previous choking Liquid teams making a championship-winning individual push like that in that close of a game.
@@Jonathan-vc6xj of course I give him credit. He's been able to go in with more of a game plan, has his former IGL as coach, and Stewie awping here and there has really helped nitr0 with mid round calling. Also stewie doing secondary calling on entry has been great.
You don’t pick up a player with Stewie2K’s mindset of how to play the game and then not give him at least some degree of freedom to do that. He’s an intuitive, timing based player and if you don’t let him be that kind of playmaker you’ll never get him to reach the high ceiling that he’s capable of. That’s one thing that definitely concerns me about FalleN’s judgement now as an IGL, team captain and evaluator of talent. You pick up a guy like Stewie for SK/MiBR, changing the language in which the entire team communicates (a team whose main strength was always centered around team play and strong communication) and you just slot him into Taco’s role as a support/occasional entry and hope for the best. Imagine what FalleN may have done to s1mples development as a player had s1mple chose to accept SK’s offer.
Twistzz didn't need to even be mentioned in the list of misfit players because his previous team's name is evidence enough. 😎 Good video, I really enjoy analysis about team dynamics. The bit about EliGE kind of leaving Liquid was particularly interesting as well.
Really looking forward to cologne and hope to see Astralis against liquid. Feel like the game in Montpellier mainly went Liquids way because of Vertigo which felt a bit random and 50/50
Right, but D2 was open. Thorin mentioned this in his EPL video. If Astralis felt like they were a better team than they would have picked dust 2 instead of dropping it.
@@cosman24 Not the question tho tbh is it? I think Stewie is much more hungry as a player than the lazy autimatic. auti is actually a god but he can't be bothered to leave and actually do well. He is probably a better passive player and very stable but that wouldn't work with NAF in the lineup - they are basically the same player in the server. So while autimatic is arguably a better player, he wouldn't work in TL because there would be a role clash, kind of like felps and Fer. But if they could overcome that and make a shift, which would certainly be possible given adreN's strength as a coach then TL could be a much more stable team. However, I personally think stewie is a better fit not just because of NAF but because it allows TL to be a much more aggressive and insane team with strategy and raw firepower. So overall, autimatic would make TL stable but a stable number 2 (similar to TACO) that would always have lost to Astralis because the aggro wasn't there. stewie offers the leg up in aggro firepower
I think autimatic is like a classic liquid player. He doesn't bring the energy or the intuitive reads that Stewie brings. I think they would have been good, but they wouldn't have been able to get over the hurdle of Astralis.
@@beanburritocs autimatic hasn't left C9. It's a sunken ship he refuses to leave, he can't win with this team. They didn't even make it to the major and yet he didn't leave even tho there are teams that would snap him up in a heartbeat.
Liquid is doing great this year, definitely deserving of their ranking atm. However, unlike Astralis who has shown near unbeatable prowess up until recently, Liquid has still shown signs of being beatable. I think they'll win cologne, but I'll be backing Astralis to win Starladder this year in September.
The same astralis-type dominance might not ever happen in the scene again. Liquid are #1, not unbeatable and dont have an era, but they are the best team at the moment.
Adam Flexen Astralis isn’t bad, it’s a testament of how much the high level teams have improved. We’re in a state in CS where any team within the top 15 is capable of winning an entire tournament. Even with the struggles MiBR has had, they have beaten Astralis and Liquid in recent months (they’ve beaten TL twice in ECS). Astralis just needs time to adjust, they’ll be fine.
no I agree, the economy update as well as the AUG nerf has proven to be a major decider of how viable a team is in the current meta. As Thorin is saying, versatility is the key in the current meta. It’s why Liquid, Mouz, and recently Furia have all performed very well lately.

In adreN we trust. He knows how to utilize everyone on the squad. You're totally right, he has more space now.
