Linda whenever you open that door with a cup of coffee (or glass o' wine) in hand I just feel like I'm a friend invited over. Your whole property is just so appeasing and welcoming.
Your Neighbors must be so happy that you moved into this home. A delight for the eyes!
It's definitely a magazine worthy view for sure! I love it!
I agree, the neighbors probably love it!! How awesome to see this yard in your block!!
Linda,
It may be safer for you and others walking by the buried umbrella stand, to place an upside down pot or a pot with a large drainage hole over the umbrella stand. Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Your garden does not look cluttered. It’s beautiful and every time I see it I am in awe. Love your videos.
Keep the pumpkins! They have room there and will be so cute for the kids in fall when they're walking to school!
Linda I live in Columbus Ohio and every year I dig up the tulip plants and put them in a few buckets which I set in the garage till the greens die back and when they are done I separate the bulbs from the dead plant material and store the bulbs in a cool dry place until frost. This has worked well for me. I am addicted to your videos. You are an inspiration. Ronda
Great suggestion. I'm going to try that with my tulips
Yuliya from "Y Garden" channel showed how she "over summers" her tulip bulbs a couple years ago. I think she only keeps the ones measuring about 10 centimeters (?) or is it millimeters? She is a garden designer who gardens in New Jersey. Fabulous gardens!
"Have I missed anything?"
YES!!! The snowball viburnum! I spotted brief glimpses of it in the background, but wanted to see more of it's beauty up close.
Stewart, you must hijack Linda's tour while your favorite shrub is in full bloom.
I ran the picture of the mystery plants through the plant identifier app. It's Chinese ground orchid, a species of Urn orchids. Also known as hyacinth orchid or hyacinth bletilla. Botanical name: Bletilla striata. It is a hardy perennial. Hope this helps!
I did the same and got the same results
Same
The buried stand could be a tripping issue.
Perhaps put an upside pot over
Linda, I believe your little surprise may be a Bletilla striata Hardy Ground Orchid, The flowers are beautiful and the foliage that remains green all summer is also striking.
I cannot believe how fast your garden woke up. It's popping off!
I'm tardy to the party because we've been 3-year-old twin grandboy sitting and it's taken me this long to catch up. I would enjoy seeing some short conical topiaries growing in the ground in the east bed which you said looked bare. I simply adore what you have in pots. Love, Love, Love your Easter landscaping! Happy Holiday!
Your neighbors are so blessed to have you and hubs in the neighborhood. Not only is is the cottage and gardens so beautiful, but you seem like such a down to earth person. I love all of your videos and watching your gardens wake up and come to life. 😍
Three varieties of my tulips have rebloomed big time! They have been blooming for a month now! I live in 10a zone, so this is a miracle!!
Hi Linda, I have all of my spring bulbs in pots - tulips, daffodils, muscari, hiacynths... After they have bloomed I give them slow release fertilizer and take them off from the pots with all the compost and put inside plastic bags remaining after compost I'm buing. I make holes at the bottom of the bags for good drainage, creating from the bag a kind of pot and leave them in place nobody see them, watering sometimes, until the leaves will not dry (it takes 2-3 months). Then dig up and store in paper boxes in cold place (garage) until early winter when again I plant them in pots in a very well daring mixture of compost. They come back really well year after year, also tulips. I'm taking them out from the pots after blooming mainly because I have many of them and in this way I can reuse pots for planting annual flowers. Sending lot of greetings from Italy and Happy Easter to you and your family!
The lady that walked by crossing the street didn't even look at your garden!!!!! I couldn't believe it! It is so gorgeous!!!! When you opened the door at the beginning of the video ... I gasped! thank you, Linda and Stewart!
Shy person 😊
Probly doesn’t wanna be on camera
I was thinking the same thing!
I know right! I could she not see all of that beauty!
I suppose that the lady you referred to in the video may have been a bit camera shy or just respectfully aware of being intrusive in the filming ...
Linda I have never seen a yard so gorgeous. You give it so much attention.hello stewart
I love the purple pansies in the basket and pots by your front door!
Linda. I loved seeing the view you see every time you open your front door!
If you deadhead the tulips after bloom and give bulb fertilizer they should make blossoms for next year. My biggest problems with tulips is the squirrels and skunks digging them up in winter. To try to avoid that I put netting on top of the bulbs beneath the soil. When they get their claws caught in the net they stop digging. You can also use hardware cloth. I just save the net bags from onions and other produce. Fertilizing in fall and spring will do nothing for the flower; it forms the year before. It will only feed the foliage. Hope you manage to save yours in the pots. They’re beautiful. 💕😊
I hope to see the viburben… is it white now ?
Tip: put a chair above your umbrella stand,
when there is no umbrella in it.
That is saver for everyone.
I enjoy your garden ! Thanks !
My mom has that same shoot coming up right under her YELLOW Rhody! She thought it was a "starburst" lily she says ha hers are white with pink/red in the middle with long stamens. But I was still doubtful it was a lily knowing what they look like coming up. Saw a comment saying ground orchid and I'd bet that's correct! So excited to tell my mom what her mystery shoots are! 😁🙌 Your garden is beautiful Linda! I am redesigning my first larger scale garden for a long timw family friend and I can only dream of achieving the same rhythm and harmony you've created in your garden and many others! Stay sweet ❤🌿
So Very Beautiful!!! I would just want to be sitting outside all the time just looking at all that beauty!!! You are such an inspiration to so many!!! Love It!!!🌷🌷🌺🌺🏵🏵🪴🌱
OK Linda that was not fair. Now I want to tear out my lawn and redo like your garden.
Wow it is amazing!
🤣
I think it may be a Chinese ground orchid. Bletilla Striata 😊 your garden looks so pretty 🌞
That's what my plant recognition app says also.
Linda your spring garden is absolutely beautiful!!
Would you consider a video teaching about soil amendment, etc. and how to properly fertilize different varieties?
Than you in advance ❤
I sooo enjoy you, your staff, your home, your garden.
Linda, perhaps a other snowball viburnum in your front yard, it's linking with the side, give spring interest by blooming now, and Stuart is double happy
Hi Linda. You look so happy to be back home in your beautiful garden again!
Dear Beautiful Mum you're very good Human being and I liked your interest in growing beautiful backyard Garden with beautiful looking Plants which makes the life more pleasant and Happy, Healthy when ever the door opens in the morning or evening 🎉
I would trip over the umbrella stand sticking up!
Then place one of the chairs over it when umbrella isn't in it.
I was thinking the same thing as I am super clumsy, perhaps moving a chair over it when the umbrella is down, or placing a small pot next to it.
@@QueenAnnesLace13 Great idea! I was thinking the same thing!!
I've been told to also fertilize bulbs with higher P&K numbers once you plant or see them coming up, and again AFTER they've bloomed since the foliage is still taking up nutrients and photosynthesising.
I’m stealing your brilliant idea of burying your umbrella stand! I have a pea gravel patio & think it will work great❤
Linda, how proud you must be of your garden. I am proud of you too 🌷
Simply beautiful ❤. Happy Easter to all. Love from Rosie O from a rainy ☔ Devon, England 🏴 x
Hello from Southern California!!
@@jeriwebb700I bet it's warmer there than here. 2 inches of Snow fall here. 🌨️
Hello from Vienna Austria 😊
Hello from the beautiful Mts in Australia 🦘💕🙏🪴
I’m blown away by how fast everything has turned green❤
Linda, I suggest taking the bottom half of the umbrella pole and putting it in the stand so you don't trip over the stand stem. The garden just keeps getting prettier and prettier. I appreciate what you do and that you share it. Thank you so much!
We were moving slowly but surely into Spring here in New Hampshire until mother nature took a turn and blessed us with a foot of snow last week, although now the rain has begun and hopefully we're on our way again towards warmer temperatures. Thank you for this encouraging video of your beautiful garden ❤
Next two weeks is going to look completely different for you! 🎉🎉🎉
my plant identifier on my phone app said ......chinese ground orchid or hyacinth orchid ...and it said it was healthy...your yard is fabulous!! Don't you love spring!
That is a Hyacinth orchid - Bletilla Striata- recognized it all the way from Germany. Fröhliche Ostern
The transformation in your garden from winter to spring…..it’s amazing! Oh also I’m wondering how the carpet roses are going?
The mystery plants look like ground orchids.
What about a dwarf Albert spruce in that large void? The conical shape would echo your boxwoods. And you should be able to get a pretty large specimen for instant gratification.
They don’t do well long term in southern states.
Your garden is definitely not too cluttered! I absolutely love and am amazed what you’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time.
It’s a gorgeous little garden orchid Linda…you will love it! Your garden is such an inspiration, thank you for all the hard work involved in bringing these videos to us. X
bletilla striata
Concerned the umbrella stand is a tripping hazard. If you are carrying a tray of drinks you won't be able to see your feet and down ya go. Can you cover it with an upside down pot or idk, something bigger? I think it is a great idea for dealing with the wind. Absolutely love your garden.
Me again. How about trying your birdbath in the spot on the other side where you need height? Or another concrete feature that holds its own year round? 🌿🌿🌿
Those tulips are a feast for the eyes. Mine have yet to come .....36F here. You are absolutely right-Spring is so fleeting and sometimes we go from winter straight into summer temps! I love gardening. It is a labor of love. Looking forward to info on box woods. I have an agapanthis which spent the winter in my sun room. I want to get more and will sink the pots-excellent idea.
I just love spring, when you hold your breath to see if your new perennials come back.❤
I planted rye grass in 2 whiskey barrels with tulips on your suggestion, it turned out beautiful.🌷🌷. Full bloom right in time for Easter ❤. Thank you!
That sounds so pretty!
Photo Please!
Love that idea! I have several whiskey barrels!!
@@yvonnesmith2578 I wish RUclips would allow that! Sorry
Of course they allow it. It's just a pic of your garden. So come on now, we all want to see!
Your garden is a feast for the soul. Thank you for sharing & teaching 🙏
Loved your old house, but this one is just gorgeous. I can appreciate it, as I have recently downsized. Loving my 1 level living!❤
According to Google is a winter daffodil! Beautiful garden
Hello Linda, I looked up that plant on my PICTURE THIS app and this is what it says.
Chinese ground orchid, a species of Urn
orchids(Bletilla)
Also known as: Common bletilla, Hardy orchid, Hyacinth
Hope this helps!
Hot lips Salvia handles the summer heat very well here in Virginia. It gets tall and wide and it smells amazing. It attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.
the garden is soooo beautiful. thanks for sharing it with us.
I enjoy the garden experiments! I’m glad you are there to enjoy your gorgeous garden.
Proof that hot colors make the garden pop. Lovely.
I absolutely loooove the garden. It is fabulous!
thank you for sharing your joy!
Such a cute pic of you Linda “on your side” with the lovely backdrop of colorful tulips🌷🌷🌷
The joy on your face says it all😀

I love your home.. inside and out! I could have coffee and read a book there every day!
Yes the view from your Scenic Overlook is breathtaking and colorful! Great job!!! ❤
Linda it’s a masterpiece!
Hi, Linda. Thank you for your video. Have a good week. ❤
❤ the tulip pot ideas
It looks perfect! Not too cluttered.
Your garden is looking so beautiful Linda. I love it. Xx
Wow, oh Wow! When you opened your front door the colors of the flowers just jumped off the page. Spectacular!
Gosh Wow ! I am so jealous , Absolutely beautiful front cottage garden ..❤ Congratulations..All the hard work has to aid off Linda ..
So beautiful. I love strolling through your garden. 😉
There are some tulips that perennialise - maybe try them - I keep intending to do that - I just google which ones come back each year, for example Spring Green and Pink Impression ? Pink something . they both cam back beautifully for Dainty Diaries on YT. There are some love orange ones that came back - Princess Irene i think is one off top of my head.
Pretty ❤colors looks vibrant for Easter
I love the occasional yellow tulip.
It’s so pretty Linda. So thankful you showed the Indigo Frost as I planted 3 in a pot and didn’t trust the zone 7, but put one other in my garden , I thought it didn’t survive but maybe it still will show up! Patience.😉
Linda I would love to have some of those fox gloves. Cant wait to see them in bloom.😊
Beautiful!
Its so beautiful out there so pretty
Beautiful. The chartreuse color really pops in spring. Our spring has not started in the Midwest
Pretty spring nails too! Color? Thanks for always sharing!😎✌🏻
Mystery plant….reminds me of an invasive Helleborine, a weedy woodland orchid native to Europe. 🇨🇦
Glad to hear you will double up the stepping stones, good call. 👍🏻
Great walkabout looks pretty hope you get the size pavers you are wanting in there soon, things are filling out/in fast 😊
I'm looking forward to your upcoming boxwood video. 😊.
Linda, Your mystery plant looks like my Chinese ground orchid (Bletilla striata). Mine are the pink. They were my grandmother’s and I have moved them to 3 new homes. They were originally in zone 8 and now in 7a . They have formed beautiful clumps and bloom profusely. A perfect plant to share with friends. Love your cottage garden. You have Victoria and I have Jose. Couldn’t do it without him.
Excellent updates! Thanks for answering my Holllyhock question 😊
I was wondering the same thing.
That’s my type of Disneyland - I love all the colour. It looks beautiful Linda
Yes I do it every year with my potted tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. I take them out of the pots when all of the foliage has dies back, abd I store them until October when they are put back into pots of soil. They come back just as beautiful as the previous year, every time.
Looks beautiful. Hi Stewart
I love the agapanthus. I looked at them yesterday at the HD, loaded with buds, but afraid they won't survive our winter, but you gave me a great idea, bury the pot and bring it in during a freeze. Genius! I have the same issue with my front door locking me out. It's a Schlage and we've replaced it many times, and eventually it happens again. I have to keep it in "locked" mode and put the code in every time. I may go back to old school and get a keyed lock. The garden doesn't look too Disneyland, it's beautiful!
A weeping redbud can be pruned to an umbrella topiary. Mine is five feet tall and has a circumference of 48”.
The "dream" cottage! Linda, what is the nail polish color you have on today? It pops along with your beautiful tulips!
Hey Linda. I bought one sunshine ligustrum yesterday at Lowe’s to pot up & shape into a topiary. Thinking of you trimming up yours in a pot.❤
OMG! I want one!!
Hi Linda, you will need to repot the agapanthas every spring to get the best performance. They're indigenous to my area, and they rapidly send out tubers. In the ground, we need to divide every 2nd to 3rd year. I'm sure you will over winter well doing it in pots. They're evergreen for us in Cape Town, South Africa.
How about a large fountain as height on the East side of the upper terrace? Sad the Hollyhock seeds didn’t make it. Thank you for the update … I only ask you 6-8 times 😂 😂 persistence pays off 😊. Great WW today!!
I have the same boots and I love them.
Gorgeous I would just love to sit there with a cup of coffee and enjoy your hard work! Linda, PA.
Gorgeous, gorgeous! Love how you are so intentional with your descriptions and narratives. Are you saying “heighth” or “height”? My high school English teacher was so meticulous in teaching us pronunciation, that now my ears now perk up when I hear height with an H on the end instead of the correct pronunciation in which height and kite rhyme.🌷🌼🪻
Love too Disneyland 😎😎😎former cast member here⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love love your garden it’s gorgeous! I just want to go to homedepot n buy a bunch of plants! So warming!
