I am guessing the same thing that is affecting the other races is getting into the werewolves. I am still not sure what exactly is going on. However, from reading the articles. The first two offical articles describe village members and even avacyn herself have a tingling feeling on the back of their necks. That is exactly what avacyn was feeling before she went cray. Sounds very familiar to the card "skin invasion" even says in the flavor text about that feeling. Could some unknown parasite be burrowing into the races and affecting them? It was also pretty odd that both articles took place around a forest. The first one being the ulvenwald and the second being a forest avacyn rescued the child from. Just seems a bit strange...
Magnifying glass more points to the oddities that have been seen in many other cards. Multiple eyes in "incorrigible youths" extra thumbs in "kessig forgemaster/flameheart werewolf" could possibly be a side affect of the "parasite" if thats what it is. Could be an Emrakul spawn indeed. I just find Emrakul hard to believe because it seems like Jace is being pointed out to the sea. With the tides going crazy is that something Emrakul would cause? The Onakke meaning the ogres? What makes you suspect them? I honestly have no clue what the culprit rather than Nahiri is. I want to say those parasites have something to do with everything. Or perhaps the moon is being pulled into innistrad by Nahiri? That would explain the tides changing. So many questions!
The whole "terror from the deep" reminds me allot of both the fishing hamlet from the Bloodborne dlc, and ofcourse what inspired it...the HP lovecraft story. I forgot its name. Also, i really hope Nahiri isnt summoning Emrakul, but it more than likely is. It just makes sense. Lastly, werent all the werewolves healed from the cursemute? I though they all were either cured totally or became wolfir?
It might be an interesting exercise to identify the werewolves in Shadow over Innistrad that are infected with this new kind of disease, as opposed to those who still have the old form of lycantropy. Here's my best guess for now: New lycantropes: Flameheart Werewolf (glows from the inside, has weird looking yellow spots all over his face that could be additional eyes still in growth - an also the extra thumbs) Lone Wolf of the Natterknolls (has weird blisters on his shoulder and also strange-looking skin slightly below his armpits) There might be others as well (I first thought about including Lambhold Butcher since his back hair looks weird), but I think these two are definitely "new" lycantropes. It should be noted that it's heavily implied that these two are lone wolves, while some of the more healthier looking werewolves (such as Gatstaf Ravagers or One of the Pack) still hunt in packs.
Is anyone else getting the sense that there might be multiple causes for these occurences? For instance, Nahiri may only be responsible for the angel's madness, but I think that the chain veil might be behind the warping of the inhabitants of Innistrad. They're turning into Onakke. The Chain Veil is entering it's final stage.
Hey Seiben, did you know that the card Tamiyo's Journal flavor text has different entry numbers. Because I have one with 922 and my friend has 343. cool huh :D
+Ty Morris Oh, how I wish the days would return; but the writers they tended to hire were usually mediocre, especially that Wintermute fellow. I love the concepts, characters, and world building, but i hate the horrible vagueness of the overall plots.
just a thought, most things drink... could nahiri have summoned a plague rather than trying to Summon a creature for her revenge? the water is mutating things?
I came up with a theory just now, involving the tendrils' resemblance to Eldrazi limbs. What if Nahiri isn't harbinging a giant monster, but a massive change to the species of Innistrad. So, the Eldrazi are monsters that feed on mana to do... something. WotC never really stated what the Eldrazi need mana for. Nahiri's Cryptoliths bend and twist mana leylines, redirecting them forcibly to the Drownyard Temple (I have another theory on that). This obviously affects beings made entirely of mana, but how does mana effect, for lack of a better term, "solid" individuals? (beings not composed entirely of mana will be referred to as "solid" for this theory). Anyway, I theorize that stabile mana leylines play some important role in the biology of "solid" organisms, keeping their forms stabile and anchored to the plane. Perhaps, without the stabile leylines, "solid" forms become more difficult to maintain. This could potentially cause the "solid" form to become Eldrazi-like, with tendrils and extra eyes and such. Perhaps the Eldrazi feeding on mana is an attempt to keep their unstable forms as stable as possible. This could explain a possible origin for Ulamog, Kozilek, and Emrakul; as beings who, long ago, f**ked around with leylines and turn into Flying Spaghetti Monsters. This seems like a very fitting revenge for Nahiri. Sorin wasn't on her world helping to stave off the Eldrazi broods, so she won't help him stave off an army of new, fun-sized Eldrazi. Also, it's possibly that the Cryptoliths serve an additional purpose of keeping this new Eldrazi menace trapped on Innistrad.
seiben do you know of any object that might possibly be doing this like the phyxria with their warping of species or the slivers making a come back or is emrakul playing a whole new ball game
Hey Saiben, what if Nahiri has an Eldrazi (possibly Emrakul) on Innistrad but has the thing trapped in a giant makeshift moon and somehow is hiding that giant rock, waiting to release its corrupting surprise inside
A "Briny smelling organ, made of tumorous unknown materiel?" Anyone else thinking Lovecraft influence here? It's yet again another reference to the sea and to these odd mutations we see in so many card arts thus far. My guess is that the fall of the/ or release of the Titans may have awoken other ancient beings across the multiverse, and what we are seeing is this beings influence on it's host plane.
+Mr.Northwind I like this theory a lot more than the common one of Emrakul attacking Innistrad, however, Emrakul attacking during "Eldritch Moon" set, is more likely :(
they are a completely different beast that I'm still trying to cover correctly. I stay up to date with them but I'm having a hard time covering things as they occur.
Alright guys here's my theory. What if we're seeing the after affects of the destruction of the two eldrazi Titans? Ugin said that there could be unseen consequences to the effects of killing the titans although he thought the effects wouldn't be seen for many generations. I mean ugin has been wrong before and these could be the more immediate effects on some of the planes
after looking back at some card art it now seems to be the work of a eldrazi im not saying it is emrakul but in fact a eldrazi is causing the infections to the land if you look back at some cards art from soi ogw bfz and rise of the eldrazi
Arlinn would hopefully be immune to the corruption, much like Karn, her spark should prevent something like that from happening. Karn only became corrupted by his core when he gave up his spark. It is possible that if the tendrils are connected to the eldrazi, however, that they could affect planeswalkers. Much of the laws that apply to how eldrazi work are an enigma to the members of the multiverse, perhaps they could through some means have the power to affect Arlinn, and, if so, what does that mean for planeswalkers everywhere?
Please, I love Emrakul. I love the eldrazi. I even love Marit Lage whatever that might end up being! But it would be a dream if there was something big like that behind it all. Innistrad might actually be my favorite block, with the lore and the mechanics in general. Zendikar my second. But if they tied together?? I don't have the luck.
i do believe that it has something to do with the silver moon of innistrad since nothing appears to follow its normal order or perhaps a new demon lord on innistrad
it seems these tendrils can affect both organic and inorganic things. in my opinion, tendrils appear to be akin to some kind of infection, as it seems to affect the victim on an individual level than a whole race.
Me and my friends don't really think it is the tentacle, but rather not the only thing that is corrupting them. These werewolves reside usual on Innistrad and transform during the full moon. What if this Eldritch moon is rather the true moon the werewolf's are changing into. Since Jace found out that Innistrad had a second moon, but for some reason is invisible to everybody, What if the moon everyone does see actually acts as to illuminate the second moon behind it causing these great changes. But what would happen if the Eldritch moon does not become invisible anymore? Would the curses and the corruption reach to beyond anyone could understand. That is my theory anyway. Oh and to add up to these corruption that is happen to them is maybe the Eldritch moon is somehow slowly become visible. As if a spell to suppress it is slowly disappearing by some unknown force.
Didn`t Avacyn create the Wolfir from the werewolves to help them with their curse, but they had to relinquish their human side for this. That may explain why this one did not transform back to his human form upon death. Also the Wolfir have a connection to the moon as all werewolves, which may have something to do with all the madness going around. They also have a strong connection to Avacyn who helped them with their curse, which could also be affecting them through the link they have. Or it could be the other way around, all the problems come from the moon and the curse it brings and since Avacyn worked with the werewolves the curse spread through them to her. There is definitely something out there!
the wolfir were created by avacyn yes, but not all werewolves accepted it. some refused and coninuted as normal. now I do think you may have a point, it not have turned back because it was a wolfir. in another story, a man completed cured by avacyn, not a wolfir but now just a normal man, turned back to the beast when avacyn went crazy. this could mean that the wolfir are now just as savage as werewolves without having a human side.
PS: on the topic of "forever winter" i would really love to see a new plane, that actually is forever winter, ala Ice Age. Kinda like Innistrad's subtle nod to one of my favourite MTG sets/time period in Dominaria...The Dark!!! PPS: i miss Dominaria. Id love to see a modern set take place in Dominaria, brought up to "standards" maybe reprint some classic legendary characters, and/or create planeswalker cards from classic walkers, like Lord Windgrace!! I was so excited when i heard about Venser. I really wanna see Teferi rebranded as a PW, kinda like that one card they made of him. Only taking place in modern time, not a nod to the past. Teferi could really compete with Jace for the new token blue walker. Jace needs to go away for abit. Im tired of him showing up all the time!!!
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.In a coat of gold or a coat of red,a lion still has claws,And mine are long and sharp, my lord,as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that Lord of Castamere,But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
These infections are very reminiscent of the Eldrazi's corruption of the vampires of Zendikar. Hell, even Zendikar's angels were corrupted by the Eldrazi. Just not in the same way...;)
I hate how some different outlets can just out and out spoil the entire story... major flaw in my opinion. but yeah, I'm waiting for official articles.
I think it's time for another planeswalker brawl Jace and Sorin vs Nihiri on one end Arlin Kord vs Illiana vess vs a corrupted Tamiyo. That's what I'd like ro see anyways
I don't care if it will be Emrakul, Marit Lage, or another spaghetti monster... Just *KILL JACE* ! Squeeze him into a perfectly flat blood & bones GuildPact, just to not mess with Ravnica at least.
this did not do nothing but make may once again say what the hell direction is wotc is going with one door open 5 more stand in front of us locked n needing to be opened
I just saw it's sad that sorin kills her I thought it will be liliana vess or Jace that kills her but now whos going help the human from the monster and stuff
Good news is she isn't. There is a story of her and Jace being attacked by Avacyn and Sorin intervening, "unmaking" Avacyn in the process. So she is alive.
Emrakul has now pushed some of her strong pulls onto Innistrad and is starting the plan of Nahiri. Emrakul takes on the mind, which later corrupts the body and makes the creatures her minions, or more so, her "children"...
am i the only one that would pay for a copy of Tamiyo's Journal in real live
Lore is Love, Lore is Life

This lore show is awesome. Oddly enough, the only show I actively try to catch as soon as they're posted :)
wow I'm honored! glad you enjoy it
I really enjoyed this video.
Tai Lopez IS a kamagawa moon person. All about that KNOWLAGE
lol, just me hanging out here with my weatherlight in my garage.
"A race of humanoids obsessed with research and knowledge" You mean every blue mage ever??
Yep, but no more jace plez!!!!!!!
+Ayden Sauvageau jace is the best :D
I just hope to see a Lagendary Werewolve soon. :)

Shadows over innsmouth
Not all just most I think
Awesome video, as always!!
hey Saiben, its not just eyes. many other cards have odd extra body parts. like forgemaster/flame heart werewolf has an extra thumb
that's a good point, it's basically mutating a bunch of creatures.
+SeibenMTG agreed, a lot of weird stuff going on
emrakul...
Minder how many dicks they have then?
Could be a precursor to some kind of mitosis-like reproduction. Inexorable Blob might be an early adopter.
It might be an interesting exercise to identify the werewolves in Shadow over Innistrad that are infected with this new kind of disease, as opposed to those who still have the old form of lycantropy. Here's my best guess for now:

Sorry, but, as usual, a very fascinating video.
We all know what's going on. Rise, RISE Emrakul, DEVOURER OF PLANES!
no pls.. let it be marit lage
Spoiler: It's Emrakul. Wizards forgot about ML
+KyubeetheEspurr called it

this series is amazing!
I absolutely love Wizard's storytelling. I wish there were Three novels for every block.

Hey Saiben, what if Nahiri has an Eldrazi (possibly Emrakul) on Innistrad but has the thing trapped in a giant makeshift moon and somehow is hiding that giant rock, waiting to release its corrupting surprise inside

It's going to end up being Emrakul. I was praying for Marit Lage, but no...sounds like Emrakul. Dang it
good work
i hope we get to see more of tamiyo, we could need a break from jace
I think in the next set the corrupted creatures will fall under the sway of this big mythic creature that is coming to innistrad!
I think youve got it. Enter: Emrakul
No Eldrazi speculation here, right?
It seems unusual that there's no side story in SOI, Instead everything is connected.
I would actually want to see a lore for the Mondronen werewolf pack.
Or even just a lore video for all the packs in Innistrad. :)
PS: on the topic of "forever winter" i would really love to see a new plane, that actually is forever winter, ala Ice Age. Kinda like Innistrad's subtle nod to one of my favourite MTG sets/time period in Dominaria...The Dark!!!

garruk's back?
If Tamiyo is not in Eldritch Moon, she will probably be in the next block where the moon plays a big role.
If Tamiyo isn't in Eldritch Moon, I'm going on a rant...
Tentacles with eyes? Emrakul IS ON INNASTRAD!
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.In a coat of gold or a coat of red,a lion still has claws,And mine are long and sharp, my lord,as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that Lord of Castamere,But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
what if tamiyo brought something with her from kamigawa by accident the way karn brought the phyrexian oil with him to mirroden on accident?
I want to see Geralf and Gisa.
These infections are very reminiscent of the Eldrazi's corruption of the vampires of Zendikar. Hell, even Zendikar's angels were corrupted by the Eldrazi. Just not in the same way...;)
What if the moon isn't a moon but something like the zombie moons from Deadspace?
Who else thinks tamiyo should still be alive but maybe even she is now a different form? I mean a mind Mage doesn't just leave their journal behind.
This is my bed time story
the new update for magic origins (the Video game) spoils many parts of the story. but still awaiting in how the story will go.
I hate how some different outlets can just out and out spoil the entire story... major flaw in my opinion. but yeah, I'm waiting for official articles.
+SeibenMTG I feel they screwed that up entirely with the flavor text printed on Anguished Unmaking.
and so he spoke and so he spoke that Lord of Castamere
The wolfir?
Oh god, that extra eye...
it seems to be all about the moon
With all this talk about Tamiyo, maybe Wizards will return to Kamigawa
As long as we go somewhere new first, please not 3 'returns' in a row
I think it's time for another planeswalker brawl Jace and Sorin vs Nihiri on one end Arlin Kord vs Illiana vess vs a corrupted Tamiyo. That's what I'd like ro see anyways
+shadowwolf YES! we need something with Karn, he is AWESOME
NAHIRI? she has been making structures around the plane and could be infecting animals like a plague.
That extra eye is creepy
When Seiben doesn't like your lore posts on Amino...
With so much lovecraft influence in this set I'm surprised any of the main characters aren't white males
+Coltin Yancey What, like Jace?
eldrazi. ..... planeswalker is possible! with werewolf in the mix lol
It's Nicol Bolas, always.
Yep
you mean yawgmoth
Emrakul is coming. As the Titan of corruption, these are the signs of her impending arrival.
The moon on innistrade should be the forth Titan.
Man I miss Garruk
I don't care if it will be Emrakul, Marit Lage, or another spaghetti monster... Just *KILL JACE* ! Squeeze him into a perfectly flat blood & bones GuildPact, just to not mess with Ravnica at least.
